Original A.R.K.N.E.T. | Rogues

  1. RE: Original A.R.K.N.E.T. | A Galaxy Enslaved

WHP-01 was getting quite a bit annoyed by the constant blabbering coming out of Andrew. First in the bar, and now the car ride. After Jack brought up the case of Andrew's constant complaining, Wit decided to give his thoughts as well. "You know what? I agree with Jack here. I am sick of your complaining Andrew. Do you think anyone else here is having the greatest of times, shoved into this car? No, not exactly. Now, please do us all a favor and shut your mouth for the rest of this car ride." Usually, Wit tends to be pretty calm at times, but this Andrew person... He just seemed to dig right under his metallic skin, with his constant complaining and blabbering. "And you know what? I would be happy to provide the tape if you don't."

Screwing up his face-- in a charming, becoming way, to be sure--the black-furred Thenast tried to resist the incessant tickling in his nose. 'No good...!' he recognized, shooting his paws out to grab something; in the course of a second, he pulled a passerby's sleeve over to himself and reluctantly sneezed at the clothed arm. Sniffling and glancing up a second later, he put on an apologetic smirk and stared into the person's eyes. "Ah, sorry about that," Larsa muttered, already in the process of sneaking away. "But hey, thanks for being there." And with that, he rushed into the crowd, deftly weaving around people. Shaking his head and inhaling, he glanced around for a second until he spotted the duo he was tailing-- across the busy intersection. Kelyren was near them, traversing the pavement in that graceful gait of hers, although her proximity to the vixen and her mind-slave was somewhat unorthodox for a successful stalking.

Casually stepping onto the crosswalk as the light appropriate to his position turned yellow, and observing most all of the cars slowing down, Larsa scurried across the street. Not a second later, he heard a car doing the exact opposite of what the streetlight signified it should do; that one goddamn idiot who has so many important things going on in their lives they absolutely have to take advantage of yellow lights. A surge of adrenaline sweeping over him, Larsa almost imperceptibly turned his head and descried the marauding vehicle-- coming straight at him! Slinking into a quadrupedal run, he sprinted forward. His instincts firing instructions at his body, Larsa shoved his front weight onto the ground and swiftly swung his lower half around-- the vehicle careened not two inches past his nose, filling his ears with an inhumane metallic scream. Senses jarred, Larsa flipped smoothly over and scurried to the opposite side of the street, feeling wholly like he had reached a safe haven.

Sighing and glancing back at the road, Larsa allowed himself a shudder of relief. 'Geez. I mean, it's not the first time I've almost been run over... but you'd hope people would learn how to drive before they cause some poor, slow sap's funeral.' Taking a calming breath, the Thenast faced forward and observed the pair he was trailing-- the 'puppet' man looked to be speaking harshly to the captor of his mind. Suddenly, he cringed, in a way that Larsa recognized was caused by an electrical attack. Although, did he look satisfied? Hearing his derogatory quip at the vixen, Larsa decided the guy must have shocked himself-- most likely to make his 'mind partner' suffer. The night-pelted Thenast shook his head, feeling a sort of snide pity for the magician. 'A poor, slow sap like that. That kind recklessness and lack of self-preservation-- it's just... laughable, I guess.'

Putting aside his dispersions against John's berserker personality, Larsa continued following the electrocuted duo.

The white Felidi slouched in his seat, rolling his eyes as he made his best attempts at ignoring everyone else in the car as he sat uncomfortably in the backseat next to the fallen angel. Jackson reclined his chair a bit, letting his right paw control the vehicle in a relaxed and coordinated fashion as he flipped out his cell with the other. In a quick succession of electronic beeps he placed the phone to his ear, giving a sigh as he looked into the mirror, giving a smirk when he saw that Andrew had finally calmed down. ”Hey babe we're headed there now so get your shit ready, I don't want to have to wait for an hour just because you forgot a few bullets... I- no, I already told you, I found these guys at the pub... Listen! If I thought that, they'd be dead OK? Calm your tits... okay – I love you, bye.” Jackson snapped the cellphone closed and shoved it back into his pocket, giving an apologetic smile back into the mirror. ”Sorry, GF being paranoid  - She's annoying like that.”

Jackson pulled his chair forward, allowing Andrew some leg room, and by the white Felidi's relieved look, it was much appreciated. ”Jackson, I'm feeling a bit sketchy about this... th-the fucking, whats-his-name.” Andrew said calmly with crossed arms. ”I mean, he's in the middle of fucking nowhere, are we even sure he's worth driving all the way there? And whats the payoff for this guy – whats in it for us?”
”Actually, good point – Skeleton?” Jackson spun titled his muzzle to the mirror with an upraised brow, using Jack's nickname as a reiteration of Andrew's question. ”Usually I wouldn't have an issue, you know, helping another ARKNET member out, but... If I heard right, you were like, exiled or some shit – how are we going to get payed if the main source of the money isn't available to you? It isn't like we can show up in Drake's office with Sucky's severed head and collect the reward, we gotta' go through the whole fucked up system of accepting the bounty, signing our names, and scheduling for an appointment upon contract completion – all that nice shit...” He said sarcastically as he turned a corner, causing one of the hovering cameras to buzz by the left side window, causing Andrew to instinctively cover his face, shielding it from the bright LED's.
    ”Fuck, I hate those things...”

Quick bursts of energy were sent through Aurella's body as her muscles convulsed in a short lived, but agonizing manner. However even through the 'shock' of the attack, her body bore no marks of the attack, unlike John himself, who had seemed to get the worse end of the stick, especially due to direct contact with the spell itself. The vixen snarled viciously for a moment before giving a nightmarish smile. 'Oh you poor, poor boy... that looked devilishly painful – too bad I only got half of that.' She rubbed her wrist slightly as she spoke telepathically to him. 'I didn't really like that John, not one bit – however it gives me more incentive to just... throw you away. An aneurism is just a few thoughts away. However I think a lobotomy is more my style, good thing all new puppets of mine are easy to schedule!'

Aurella cackled audibly as she looked at John one more time, giving a mock pouting face. “Don't feel bad... you know what they say, seventh one is the charm – I do hope you'll last longer that all the other minds I've enslaved.” She said aloud as she put a single heel on the step, looking up to the massive metal door that stood before her.

The ARKNET building was an imposing tower of dark ebony as it sat in the center of the block, glossy and pristine. Along the wall, to the left of the door was a large black camera, the unmistakable 'A' on its hull. It darted from face to face, finally settling on Aurella and John. It's red LED blinked in a triple sequence, before producing a small scanning device.

The device jolted to life, bathing the two in a soft yellow light as it went up and down their bodies, causing a numb, almost weightless feeling to anyone who was unaccustomed to this procedure. ”Targets identified: Female Lycan, vulpine decent. Name: Aurella Cross. Second: Modified Human, innate magical abilities, currently under domination, shows no decrease in intellect. Please reveal your ARKNET serial burn.” The camera said in a dry automated tone.

Aurella smiled at John as she moved the hair away from the left side of her face, revealing not only her strange psionic eye, but a dark code along her left cheek, seeming to be a strange black fur pigment, as if it had been burned into her. '5EC2W01' Aurella gave a guilty smile as the scanner went along her cheek, reading off the code as it went, eventually granting her access, though the large steel door still hadn't budged. ”This is the fun part – for me, this will be the seventh time I've felt the residual pain of an Unregistered.”

”Please apply the preferred body location to the coding device” The camera said as a large gray pad was slid out of a panel in the door, seeming to radiate with heat.
”Well, what are you waiting for John? Go get your membership...” She said as she gave him a light push towards the coding device. ”Or do I have to make you?”

  4. RE: Original A.R.K.N.E.T. | A Galaxy Enslaved

Jack sat there stunned for a moment. Clearly some moron had been spreading misinformation. "Exiled? No such thing in my department. Finish or die. Or both, depends." he said. Shouldn't Jackson have known this? Not all sectors operate the same. It's about as bad as the average multinational video game publisher. Little to no internal communication save contract assignments. "Unfortunately, in my case, it was the latter. But no, I was never exiled. Dean wouldn't've allowed that, and I'm pretty sure most are aware of how high up there he is." He looked from left to right, nervous of anyone who could be watching. "Besides, it's not as if we have to concentrate on one assignment at a time. I mean the vast majority of those in the car right now are in ARKNET. Who's to say we could take another contract that brings us nearby? With all the contracts floating around I'd be surprised if the whole planet doesn't have a hit out on it." He placed a hand on the front seat and pulled himself forward into the front a bit. "And yes, I'm well aware of how dangerous it is for multiple assassins to be seen at all, let alone together. Since when have most of us actually given a shit about danger, though?"

  5. RE: Original A.R.K.N.E.T. | A Galaxy Enslaved

Kelyren glanced back as she heard the screech of a car, sighting Lacuna easily. She raised an eyebrow at the near-roadkilled Thenast as he gave a shudder, then returned to what the both of them, apparently, had been doing. Trailing the Psionic and her human companion. The Kitsune fell back a few feet from her targets to lessen risk of being caught, signalling with her tail for Lacuna to approach. She put her finger over her lips in a wry grin, a clear and probably unneeded signal to stay quiet.

They seemed to be at the ARKNET building now; lavender eyes narrowed at the scanner. That would be so tricky to get past, even with her own abilities in stealth. A steel door that almost certainly needed ID to get through, and the fact that there would be so much risk of getting caught. Kelyren stood back and glanced around, considering the puzzle before her. ID scanner. ARKNET personnel. Steel door--

    Steel door.

She grinned, then darted forward and ducked behind the corner of the building. The Kitsune signaled Lacuna to come hide as well before pressing against the wall and looking towards the pair. As the Lycan pushed the human towards some device, the faint but distinct sound of moving metal rose up. The steel door appeared to be opening by itself, when in reality Kelyren was merely manipulating the crystal lattice structure in the steel to force it to retract into the doorway. Minutely, the top and bottom corners of the door changed shape just enough to halt its progress and prevent it from opening or closing further, leaving a space just large enough for someone to walk through comfortably, one at a time.

"It should take them a while to fix that... and perhaps the human can be spared a small bit of pain now," She muttered, even if it was clear she didn't particularly care whether the human went through a bit of pain or now. Her tail swished in anticipation of the infiltration as she retreated from sight of the door. Oh, how I love mocking danger~

  6. RE: Original A.R.K.N.E.T. | A Galaxy Enslaved

'Back at the A.R.K.N.E.T. building already... why does it feel more sinister now?' Larsa wondered, picking up a more foreboding vibe from the obsidian-shaded domicile presently. The Thenast turned his eyes to the vulpine Lycan who stood in front of the protruding scanner. 'Evil beings doth dwell in the shadows...' the weasel mused jokingly. He continued with the same melodramatic mental voice, 'And in the darkness they--' "Bitch!" he interjected in a muttered breath, upon glimpsing Aurella's psionic eye. Instantly averting his gaze, Larsa sighted Kelyren motioning to him. A notion of panic in his movement, he slipped over to the wall, gratefully shielding himself from the spectacle of the paranormal eyeball.

Glancing around for a moment, the night-pelted Thenast turned to Kelyren. Tentatively sinking to the ground and peering around the corner, noticing Aurella talking to her rebellious mind partner and seeming to proffer him to the scanner, he whispered upwards to his Kitsune companion, "Do you have a plan, or--" and fell silent when the steel doors suddenly began yawning open, despite Aurella's companion not having interacted with the scanner. "It should take them a while to fix that... and perhaps the human can be spared a small bit of pain now," Larsa heard Kelyren mutter. And with what just happened...

'Huh. Pretty useful ability; the power to open doors... Invaluable, actually,' the Thenast wondered, marveling at how much more useful the Kitsune had suddenly proved herself. Slinking backwards and standing up, back against the wall, Larsa looked at Kelyren and, wielding a mischievous grin, stated to her, "You have no idea how much more fur I'd have on me now if we had met before today."

  7. RE: Original A.R.K.N.E.T. | A Galaxy Enslaved

WHP-01 was a little intrigued by the question asked. "You know, that is true. Other than the sense of danger, and excitement gained through this, I also would like to know. What are the incentives for this little trip?" He said to Jack, along with Andrew's question. The questions were answered pretty quickly in a lengthy manner. "Yeah, but lets just screw that rule for now. Strength in numbers, right?" Some truth would be in Wits words, however it was likely that Jack knew a lot more about what he was talking about. "Still, if you could explain to me why exactly it would be more dangerous to stick together? Still not so sure what you mean by that..."

  8. RE: Original A.R.K.N.E.T. | A Galaxy Enslaved

Aurella's eyes widened as she saw the door open before its appointed time, before even her slave had gotten his serial burn. The massive door creaked as it seemed to fight being opened by the kitsunes power. Unable to hold itself shut, the door lifted slowly, revealing a wide, gray hallway lined with benches. Sitting on the benches were many different races, all dawning suits of armor, covering them head to toe in a black material, covering their faces. They all seemed to be at attention, some seeming confused, while a few others – namely the ones closest to the door, stared at Aurella and her slave.

The vixen looked into the hallway, then out into the streets with a smirk. ”Convenient” She said softly as she began walking into the building, giving a stern glance to John, commanding him to follow her. The large group of men and women on the benches did not move, nor did they show any signs of emotion as the vixen walked past, flashing her pscionic eye in their direction.

At the left of the hallway, to deep to be seen by the outside, was a secretary. She was a tall Lycan wearing a simple pair or red and black robes. A red 'A' plastered to the front. ”I'm here to see Mr. Drake.” Aurella said quickly, facing the secretary who sat at her gray desk emotionless.
”Yes of course, he'll see you right away, I'll have the elevator wait for you.” The secretary thumped on her keyboard in quick succession, the beeps followed by a rush of steam that echoed from deeper in the hallway.
”Oh, yes. I'll need to get an alternate serial for my slave here – the door was opened by alternate forces, although – I'm sure you already knew that.”
The secretary nodded and typed more sequences into the keyboard, preparing the next serial burn that was to take place on the 2nd floor. ”Yes, I am aware of the door situation. Should I send a team outside?” the secretary asked.
Aurella shook her head. ”No, have them follow us upstairs, Mr. Drake would like to speak with them, he's been tracking them for some time now.”
”Of course ma'am” The secretary waved the two off towards the elevator as she sat quietly, waiting for the pair to enter the building, and be directed upstairs.

”Yeah, I don't exactly know what he means either, but... we're here, I just hope my GF's ready.” Jackson said as he pulled the car to the side of the road, honking the horn at a small two-story yellow house. Not long after, a slim, but rather short Lycan walked outside, slamming the door behind her. She had short grey fur and dark red hair that was arranged into a pair of long bangs, spiked up over her eyes. She toted a small green dufflebag over her left shoulder as a large submachine gun rested in her right hand.

She made her way over to the passenger's door and swung it open. ”Catch.” she said irritatedly as she tossed her dufflebag into the back of the car, causing it to land in Wit's lap.
”Somethin' wrong babe?” Jackson said as he rolled the window down slightly.
”I'm fine, let's just get this over with.” She sat herself in the car, slamming the door shut and buckling up quickly as she tugged the the bottom of her top, still gripping the gun tightly.

Jackson shifted the car out of park and pressed the gas, causing the tires to squeal as he sped away from the house. ”Well, Camo – these are the people I was talking about, completely normal.”
Camo burst out laughing. normal?! Um, have you looked at them Jackie? We've got a maintenance machine, and a corpse – I'm convinced you’re on drugs. Is this what passed for company these days? - No offense.” she said as she turned back, giving a single fingered salute to the others with an upraised brow.

”Funny Camo. Just don't start ok? This crowd has got no sense of humor.” Andrew said apathetically.
”Shut the fuck up Andrew.” Camo said, clearly having some sort of past issue with the white Felidi. ”So... what the hell do you people do? Other than possibly die multiple times.” She said as she looked  back at Jack and Wit. ”That is how you two ended up like that right?”

  9. RE: Original A.R.K.N.E.T. | A Galaxy Enslaved

"And that, in a nutshell, is how I ended up like this." Jack stated with a sort of 'final' tone as the group approached the path up the mountain. Looking out the windshield and up towards the sky, he spotted a traditional pagoda-esque building... surrounded by a palisades wall of sorts. This was it. This was, as they called him, Sucky's dojo. The last time he had come here, he had died. However, this time around it was different, as he was not alone. Here he faced one of the many major events that defined his destiny, as he hoped that by killing the one who killed him, he would be able to accomplish the goal set out for him as a Fallen Angel and resume life as it was before he had perished. Given his mainly robotic form pre-death, it was likely that the nanites that composed much of his body had entered a state of self-preservation and repaired his body just as he died, so as long as his body was still there, which was likely, killing Saki would hopefully let him resume control of it.

The sedan skidded to a halt as soon as he had notified Jackson, and he proceeded to climb over Wit to get out. "Well, this is the place. Just a short walk up the path and we can shove that retard's head up his ass."

  10. RE: Original A.R.K.N.E.T. | A Galaxy Enslaved

Kelyren pricked her ears up intently, at the moment looking as much like a cat as she did a fox. Peering around the corner of the building cautiously, she watched the pair enter the building without the door closing. Perfect, it worked. She chuckled a little at Lacuna's comment and responded in a low tone to avoid detection; "Well, it's always nice having a partner in crime~". She edged along the wall, motioning for him to follow. "May look into having you tag along another time."

She was at the door. The people inside seemed mildly confused, and why shouldn't they? The door opened up on its own, seemingly, and was stuck there. Quickly she considered. Everyone was looking at the door, sneaking in wouldn't work. And surely they'd have technicians on it in no time. Glancing in through the little opening visible to her, she noticed the vixen approaching an elevator, her human slave in tow. They'd have to follow her, of course, but there was no telling to what floor...

    Unless...

The Kitsune grinned mischievously. This was risky, stupid... but it might just work. Looking to her Thenast acquaintance, she nodded, keeping the grin for a moment. "Follow my lead." This was all she said before straightening her expression. Immediately following this she simply walked through the door, casting it a look of apparent annoyance, acting for all the world like she belonged there.

  11. RE: Original A.R.K.N.E.T. | A Galaxy Enslaved

"Well, the story is a bit too long to tell, but the gist of it is I was an animal tamer, didn't want to die early in life, knowing I had a dangerous job, so I had a robotic suit made for me to be transferred to after I died, which happened later in my career." Wit said, responding to Camo's question. "As for what I do... well, I work for ARKNET now."

The sedan pulled up into the parking-area."Well, here we are." WHP-01 said, as he proceeded to get out of the car. Wit hopped out of the car, after Jack had climbed over him. Man that ride was long... Being stuck in the back seat with that bitching Felidi... Still, the others are a crowd I could get used to. Wit looked around for a moment, and assessed his surroundings. The view from the mountain-top looked quite nice, being able to gaze far into the distance and the pagoda-esque building seemed to fit pretty well into the general area. Wit prepared his whip, as he knew he was likely to get into a fight soon. The metallic whip shot out of the palm of Wit's hand, and his metallic fingers fit around it as if he had been handling the whip for the longest of times. He looked over to Jack, and the others, and spoke up. "You guys ready to kick some ass?"

  12. RE: Original A.R.K.N.E.T. | A Galaxy Enslaved

"Follow my lead," Kel directed, then proceeding to walk ostensibly through the forced doorway. Larsa made an exaggerated expression of disfavor and then patriotically elected, within himself, to follow her. 'The casual approach isn't the most reliable method, though,' he contemplated with a twinge of apprehension. 'I guess if a guy can pull it off, it pays with less stress later, but it's a risky trick... Kinda' relies on other people, and how oblivious they'll be.' Just as the Thenast's new companion acknowledged the door in a minor, irritated way, Larsa glanced at the jammed opening, muttered audibly, "I can't work in these conditions!" and overall appeared as nonchalant as he could. In anticipation of any wrong turn the infiltration could take, the weasel deftly began producing more of his musk-- the odor which had been his deus ex machina countless times before, and probably wouldn't stop being useful anytime soon.

'What's with all these guys, though?' Larsa wondered, glancing innocuously around at the armored beings which lounged on the benches near the entrance. All of them seemed ready or prepared for something, but an undercurrent of atmosphere belied some misdirection, almost, among the caste. 'Black armor, from head to foot... What kind of job do they have that makes that necessary? I just hope they're not the security in this building... There's no way Kel and I could fend all of them off if we get discovered, I bet.' A small knot of tension and latent adrenaline present, Larsa looked straight forward and surreptitiously kept his focus on trying to glean more information about the foreboding building they had entered; the Thenast knew even the smallest minutia could be a factor in the success of an escape.

  13. RE: Original A.R.K.N.E.T. | A Galaxy Enslaved

The heads of the soldiers lining the wall followed the pair’s movements as they descended further into the building, the soft humming of electronics was everywhere mixed with the soft clicks that one would assume were hidden cameras. After a moment a horrible screeching sound could be heard echoing through the hallway. Behind the pair, the door was sparking, being dragged down once more before it skidded to a stop, hissing steam as it clanked shut.
“You’re Late.” A calm voice, as if it had anticipated the door, came from behind a small counter.  The tall secretary with her red and black robes faced the pair as they walked, her eyes falling on Kelyren, then Lacuna. “Mr. Drake is awaiting you upstairs – as well as his Lady Aurella, they wish to speak with you, and if you are lucky this will not be our final meeting…  I will unlock the elevator and send you up to Drake’s offices.” She moved her paws quickly, thumping loudly on the keyboard. “Lateness is not accepted.” She said sternly without looking up from the keyboard in a strange, late, afterthought.

    *****
The car shook as the two Felidi squeezed they way out of the small vehicle, the shocks making strained, rusted squeaks  as it wobbled side to side. Jackson, the first to exit, dusted himself off taking a long look of the many lush trees and vegetation around him, his gold eyes eventually settling on the large Pagoda-styled building that stretched up past the canopy of trees. ”Holy shit, big enough place?” He directed his question to Jack considering his past experience. ”Mind telling me how that got here?”

Meanwhile, WIT would find himself patted on the back by a slender furred hand. Camo stood behind the Prometheus with a slight fatigue as she used her free paw to swipe her bangs away from her eyes. “So, you don’t happen to have a coffee maker in there do you?” she said gazing down at WIT’s chest. ”’Cause I could really use some Java right now…” She covered her mouth as she yawned, taking a step back. ”Sorry, driving long distances makes me sleepy.”
”Careful, if you don’t wake up in time, ‘could affect your performance – then you’ll never wake up.” Andrew said as he walked around the car, taking an equal glance at the Pagoda roof.
”I’ll be fine” Camo said quickly, rolling her eyes.
”I could punch you, that might help.”

Jackson clapped loudly, silencing the bickering that as about to commence as he looked back with a satisfied look. ”Fucking finally, you hear that?” He said as he raised a paw to his ear, anticipating the: ’that’s the sound of silence’ quote. Instead, his eyes widened as the sound of snapping branches could be heard on the wind from higher up.
”THERE!” Andrew said loudly as several black figures could be seen moving across the treetops, coming towards the group. ”Good going Jackie, now they know we’re here – Oh well.” He said pulling out his shotgun. ”Time to party!”

    COMBAT ROUND 1 ‘Treetop Tabbies.’

  14. RE: Original A.R.K.N.E.T. | A Galaxy Enslaved

Jack looed around and then back at Jackson, intending to answer his semi-rhetorical question. "Huge faggoty morons like Sak tend to have huge dojos that scream HEY I'M TOTALLY NOT HERE for some reason. Me? I just prefer a simple room with wood floors and tatami mats." he responded, the first bit with an added hint of sarcasm, Short version? He's an idiot. But that's not important right now. What's important is--" He ducked below a shuriken flying at his head which appeared to have come from one of the higher canopies. "--is that we manage to kill enough of his losers that I can call him a chicken enough so he's forced to come out here and face us himself. He's a chicken anyway, but ludicrously stubborn about it." Jack finished, reaching back and drawing his katana in one quick, fluid motion. "What's wrong, Sak? Too afraid to come out here and fight me yourself? You now who this is, and you knew this was coming." he taunted, "No matter. I'll have fun disposing of your apprentices." He looked to the others. "Do whatever you can to force these losers to the ground. Climbing, cutting, blowing shit up; doesn't matter. Just get them down here." he stated shortly before spotting a low-hanging branch and jumping to it, latching on to it with one hand and hooking his blade's hilt around it to act as a stabiliser. Pulling himself up, he nodded and simply said, "Alright, goons, let's get this show on the road."

  15. RE: Original A.R.K.N.E.T. | A Galaxy Enslaved

Wit took a step forward, and was intending to go in immediately, when he felt a slender-paw pat him on the back. It was Camo, asking about if he had a coffee maker in his chest. Of course I don't have a coffee maker in me! I'm not a maintenance bot! He thought to himself. "Of course not, why would I ha--" Wit was cut short by the sound of a shuriken thunking into one of the trees, whizzing right past his glass casing. He looked over to the tree tops, where the shuriken seemed to have come from. Jack was yelling on about how Sal was too much of a chicken to come out himself, and it was obvious Wit's first real battle was about to begin, aside from fighting with animals of various kinds. "So, you want to fight?! Catch this! Wit said, as his hand slinked back into his wrist, revealing a blaster. It glowed a bright-blue and let off a plasma blast directly into the tree-tops.

  16. RE: Original A.R.K.N.E.T. | A Galaxy Enslaved

Recovering from the sudden noise of the door finally closing, Kelyren had to avoid raising an eyebrow or showing any form of surprise, but it was difficult. Had that actually worked? Did the secretary think they were someone else? Casting a casual, if sly, look at her Thenast tagalong, Kelyren grinned and spoke. "Well, then, get ready. Don't want to be late~" The remarks sounded casual enough, but Kelyren hoped Lacuna was sharp enough to catch the hidden meaning. Get ready to fight, just in case this doesn't work.

"I take it that the elevator, at least, is not broken. It'll send us straight to Mr Drake?" Kelyren asked, her tone of skepticism masking her genuine uncertainty. Her acute senses and powerful reflexes now were at the edge, the familiar thrill of infiltration coming to her again. This was why she loved her abilities. With a swish of her tail, Kelyren walked over to the elevator, leaning against it and waiting for Lacuna. She nodded at the secretary. "Thanks. See you again~"

'It's... uncomfortably quiet in here,' Larsa acknowledged, discounting the mechanical chattering that was to be expected in a high-maintenance, highly-important building like this. 'I guess it's not really a place for small talk.' The lack of sociable noises brought an atmosphere of tenseness down-- like the whole structure was that moment before the predator struck. Everyone in the building seemed covertly intent on not becoming the prey, and Larsa guessed no one would care about whoever did. So long as the victim wasn't himself or his accomplice, the Thenast knew he also wouldn't care, either.

Right when the mood in the building was about to reach a stifling point, a startling, grating sound lapsed through the long hallway-- Larsa cringed lightly and resisted the urge to spin around in fright. Mustering the detachment he always needed when on an infiltration job, the weasel casually glanced over his shoulder to see the door had been fixed, and not unlike the maw of a victorious beast, had closed shut and trapped it's new morsels inside. A subsequent uttering of "You're late," almost startled Larsa more than the previous unexpected noise. A secretary's station, oddly out of place with the linearity of the hallway, held a waiting Lycan employee, who proceeded to inform the duo of Thenast and Kitsune they were expected and were to use the elevator to attend their meeting. A trace of a disappointed frown sketched across the weasel's face, if just for a moment. 'We never had a chance of sneaking in,' Larsa realized. 'We only got this far because someone wants to see us.' Not three minutes in and they had already underestimated the corporation they had somehow gotten mixed up in.

Larsa glanced at Kelyren as she commented, "Well, then, get ready. Don't want to be late." "Of course," the Thenast replied absently, though still maintaining a casual guise. 'Even if she is acting, she's taking this too lightly. These A.R.K.N.E.T. people have got us pinned down, and we hardly knew it happened.' Paranoid at the thought that he was merely being funneled with almost no other choice, the black-furred weasel crossed over to the elevator. Even if the elevator traveled upwards, Larsa had a creeping feeling they were falling into the beast's stomach.

The secretary maintained a stoic look as the noise of hissing steam signaled the door of the elevator. A short ding was heard as Aurella and her puppet stood in the brightly lit chromed elevator. Many lights of varying hues glowed in the elevator shaft, as Aurella leaned in a relaxed manner against the handlebar in the back of the elevator. ”Mmm, hello again kiddies – So nice of you to follow me in here, did you see something you like, Or did you just have the abstract idea that we didn't see you coming?” She said as she swished her tail. Her voice was sinister and condescending as she wore a smile just as venomous as her words. ”Just like little moths – you flutter to the big red light, only to hit the zapper – heart... stops~” She said as she used her index finger to poke over her heart in emphasis.

She looked to her emotionless puppet – it was hard to tell whether he had given in to the domination, or had mastered the art of being completely empty, either way it was obvious Aurella was proud of him. She ran a finger down his face to his bottom lip and flicked gently, letting it flap back up. ”You should be so lucky...” she said to the pair, ”Soon he will no longer feel any of this world's cruel chemicals, or think anymore of this cultures lies – he will only feel the love I have for him, of course, he'll dissolve like the rest... in time.” She swayed her hair back, revealing her psionic eye. ”Would you like a taste honey? she said to Lacuna, ”I'll only take a few thoughts... maybe the will to breathe, or your heart? Would you like that?” It was clear she was mocking him, feeling superior knowing the pair was defenseless.

She pressed a button as she spoke her last piece. ”You should be exited, you get to meet the man who's run your lives this whole time~”

    *******

The black figures were none other than Saki's tabby cats trained in the art of ninjutsu. And while formidable, they were nothing short of underpaid goons fit for nothing more than a distraction while Saki got himself prepared. The first of the goons was a group of three. One managed to leap off a tree and glided towards Jack, katana aimed for his blackened eyesockets.

Then a second let out a high-pitched warcry as it landed in front of Camo and Wit. It swung its quarterstaff skillfully, but was block by a high kick from the lycan as she smiled and pushed the tabby towards Wit's cannon. ”All yours Robo~”

Jackson surveyed the area and looked to Andrew as the third was nowhere to be seen. He shrugged and lowered his shotgun for  a moment. Well Andy – I'm thinking-- OOF!” He was cutoff as he was kicked hard in the stomach. He rolled away in an effort to recover, but the big cat was no match for the nimbler ninja that followed him. Geez Andy – You're... really... fucking helping...” He said as he was kicked multiple times more as he attempted to force himself to his feet.

”If.. they would just... STAND STILL!” He said as he aimed his shotgun, firing wildly, missing as he tore up the lush forested ground with buckshot. ”Here... kitty, kitty... KITTY!” He shot once more, still missing, but managing to blow a small sapling clean in half. It made a slight thumping sound as it fell limply to the forested ground.

Andrew took a moment to look into the distance - there was at least four more joining the party. Things were about to get wild, that was for sure...

Jack, upon noticing the tabby flying at him with his blade out trying to stab him through the skull, quickly swiveled around and jolted his sword arm up into a blocking position, grabbing the hilt with his other hand on the way up to strengthen his guard. The tabby's sword clanged against his own, and then in one swift movement, he forced the cat's arm down and to the left, lodging his blade in the branch he was standing on. He then jumped and chopped the branch off the tree in a single movement, sending the unfortunate cat crashing to the ground below, right in front of Andrew's gun. "I noticed you were having a bit of trouble, so I made it easier for you!" he exclaimed, almost mocking the Felidi's objectively terrible aim with the shotgun. Grabbing the branch above him he pulled out three shurikens from the satchel on his right hip, fanned them out on their tips, and threw them vertically at the tabby facing Jackson. Proceeding to pull himself up, he pulled out another two shurikens and this time threw them at the other tabby near Wit and Camo. "Wit, Camo, you might want to move out of the way!"

The Tabby jumped down from the trees, and landed in front of Wit, and Camo. The Tabby quickly sprung into action, as it let out a high-pitched war cry, and swung its quarter staff swiftly toward Camo. She easily blocked it with a high kick, as if it took almost no skill at all. She smiled a bit, probably about how easy she thought the battle to come was going to be. She pushed the Tabby toward Wit, who had already began charging up another plasma shot. "All yours, Robo~", she said, as the Tabby quickly stumbled toward Wit.  "Heh, lets see how it likes this!" Wit swung his metallic whip with in-human skill, wrapping it around the torso of the Tabby stumbling toward him, stopping it in place. The whip coiled tightly around its torso, with Wit quickly aiming his blaster directly toward its torso. "Good bye!" He said, letting out the blast of plasma toward it. At the same time, he heard the shout-out from Jack. "Wit, Camo, you might want to move out of the way!" Upon hearing this, he jumped off to the side, after letting out the blast of Plasma. The two Shurikens thunked into the Tabby, as the Plasma blast melted into its torso. "Thanks for the warning!"
