Super Smash Bros 4

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous Conjectures' started by Wonder Smash, Jun 25, 2012.

  1. So Sakurai threw us a curveball today and unveiled a Rayman trophy. And, as for the video...

MAN FE: Awakening got absolutely spoiled rotten today! Robin, both male and female. Chrom. Lucina. All revealed in one fell swoop. Crazy twist of events. Also, good ol' Captain Falcon unveiled. All in one bite-sized 3-minute video. Fire Emblem fans should be counting their lucky stars right about now. Your move, Gematsu leak!

  2. Well then, that was one hell of a video today! I was totally expecting Shulk for some reason but this was somehow better!

Odd thing, though: On the official SSB page, Lucina isn't getting the same newcomer treatment. I wonder if this means anything.

  3. Well, on the main page, she doesn't get that treatment, but on her own page on the site, she is marked as a newcomer. Looking at things, it seems that they needed only one of the two to showcase the trailer and the artwork, and Robin seemed to be the more prevalent out of the two, so he was used for this end.

Then again, I don't play Fire Emblem, so I probably don't know what I'm talking about here.

  4. It should be noted that Lucina also pops up in a full newcomer box on the mobile version of the site. A little odd, but I think Giga's reasoning pretty much explains it. Robin, toting the totally new moveset, definitely got the best treatment in the trailer out of the two newcomers; ergo, he was the one most willing for the big box with the art showcase and all of that.

    >>Flash forwarding to today's update>>

YES. I never actually played as Meta Knight much, but his confirmation is pleasing. To have Kirby and Dedede without Meta Knight in the middle would've been ludicrous... then again so were the thinking patterns of anyone who thought he'd be cut. :5 He looks really cool this time around, too. Nice glove armor!

Nightmare Wizard as an Assist Trophy? This is awesome, yet scary at the same.

  6. ...okay, I'm a little disappointed that the Kirby assist trophy isn't Chef Kawasaki. But Nightmare's still awesome. I'm curious what attack it's going to use, though... the point and blow stuff up attack?

  7. From the Miiverse text, it looks like we don't get anything quite so cool...

"Pic of the day. Nightmare Wizard appears as an Assist Trophy! He will engulf the stage in darkness, and fighters will need to brawl blindly for a while. Look out for the effect before it goes dark, and play it to your advantage. Blinding and reversal effects even make the computer players mess up."

Unfortunately, it's another one of those stalemates-until-you-or-your-friends-fall off the stage things for those who opt to play it as a party game. He looks really neat though!

As for today, we received the good ol' JUSTIN BAILEY Zero Suit Samus. Now with 50% more broken spine action!

"Pic of the day. Looking at the number of days we have left for development, it would be an impossible task to create this… That's what I told my staff. But thanks to the determination of her female designer, these Zero Suit outfits got completed in time. From the ending of Metroid: Zero Mission, here's Samus in shorts!"

    Extra Bonus Picture:

"Here's a look at the 3DS version. You can use the same outfit variations in both the 3DS and Wii U versions."

This also means that Brinstar will be returning from Melee, based on that second picture!

  8. Do we have any idea who Justin Bailey is?

Also, I'm laughing at the comment about the female designer. "Our female woman designer with a vagina designed this outfit because of her determination, not because of fanservice or anything. Yes."

  9. The JUSTIN BAILEY thing is actually a password in the original Metroid that allowed you to play as Samus without her armor.

Though really, neither of the ones show are the result of using that password.
... Come to think about it, the blue suit is actually from unlockable artwork in Fusion.

  10. Yeah, that was my bad apparently. Hunch pointed that out as well when I posted it on Acanthite.
shameless crossposting is great fun lads

It's just a couple of Samus' alternate outfits from her various outings in artwork. Not the actual JUSTIN BAILEY costume. Though that would be pretty cool too, especially if it came with the green hair. Perhaps Project M will do something with that.

  11. Ohey, leaked gameplay videos with new characters: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsKwxhG3ioc6FDKupmlVHZQ

    So, discuss!

I for one now fully believe that roster leak from a few days ago

  12. The roster is pretty much confirmed at this point.

The question is, is the DLC real? I'm pretty certain the DLC has to be on-disc for online purposes so that you don't play a match against a character whose data isn't in your game, which means all five characters are on the cartridge if the leak is real.

  13. Nintendo of America has now taken down the videos due to copyright claims. As far as I'm concerned, that's as good as saying, "Yup! It's legit!"

    So, yup! It's legit!

I'm honestly looking forward to this immensely. I can't wrap my head around most of the detractors' logic when they were so excited for the game pre-leak. Does one character being in or out really affect your purchasing the game or not? Whiny infantile beings, you lot are.

I've seen the videos before they went dark. Bowser Jr.'s play-style looks really neat -- only Sakurai could make him work that way, and if the Koopalings as alts rumor is true too, then that's even cooler! Shulk, I'm really looking forward to. Loved Xenoblade. I'm looking forward to the Gaur Plains stage even more. BEAUTIFUL landscapes, that game has!

    Lastly.
    Duck Hunt Dog.
    Yes.

  14. Following the leak of these characters, they've pretty much decided to "reveal" one of them on the site. Which one?

  15. Aw yiss, Shulk. He seems to have amazing range and that mode-changing ability of his is wow.

I feel he'd be so OP for Smash Run, being able to traverse that large terrain and collect power-ups so effortlessly.

  16. And it turns out that another leaked character had appeared in an official video.

Look closely when Pikachu's taunting, and you'll be able to see Ganondorf outside the screen boundaries.

  17. Got a press copy of the demo.

All I can say is yes.

  18. I got a demo too.

So good. Link is so much better. And Megaman and Villager are fun as heck to play.

  19. While I myself haven't gotten the chance to play the demo yet (I guess I'll be waiting for the full version to come out over here), I do want to hear the thoughts of everyone who has played it so far! How much content does the demo have, anyway? Is it worth picking it up so close to the full release?
