Super Smash Bros 4

Geez, what's with all the confirmed royalty lately? First Rosalina, then Zelda, and now King Dedede. What's next? XD

 

I'm a fan of the way they've redesigned Dedede for this iteration of Smash. He looks a lot more expressive in Smash4, and that bodes very well for the amount of detail the developers are putting into their characters. Dedede was not very expressive nor animated in Brawl, but his eyes seem to pop out more in his Smash4 art, and he also just overall seems more lively now.

He also looks like he could have come from the anime which amuses me greatly, especially if we end up with lines not voiced by Sakurai but by the anime's voice actor.

Seriously like, King Dedede is my favourite villain of all time. I don't even know why, he's just awesome.

I'd definitely be in favour of K. Rool joining the fray, honestly. I can see him having a very interesting variety of moves derived from the DKC series, for sure. And the alternate costume possibilities... glorious, really. I'd love to either see him, or Dixie/Kiddy as a duo somehow. Not that I am very knowledgeable on the subject matter of Donkey Kong, but that would be what would be most interesting to me!

Also, on the subject of Dedede:


Just the sheer upgrade in how expressive he is now, and how much less derpy/one-dimensional he is... wow.

The rumour mill is again turning! This time, with word of Palutena being a playable character. Here are a couple of possible screenshots that could be real or fake; this is for you to decide, ZEJians!

Hmm.... It's possible. Although she's not the next to be revealed for the game.
In fact, the next character is a veteran. Returning from his debut in Brawl, it's the Aura Pokemon, Lucario!



It is unknown at the moment whether or not we'll be seeing Mega Lucario as a result.

 

Personally I think it's totally plausible as a Final Smash if they're doing that mechanic in this game.

 

Personally, I'd like to see Mewtwo return more than Lucario, but I am equally okay with having him in the fray once again. He is very fun to play as in Project M (in fact, he's really good), but now that I've had a taste of the 'true power' Lucario can offer, it'll be a touch disappointing to return to his Brawl mechanics. The masochistic aura thing just wasn't that innovative.

He was my main in Brawl, so it's exciting to see him return as a veteran. I actually liked his scaling damage mechanic, because it made him the keynote 'comeback' fighter, although I agree it would be more interesting to see a more fitting mechanic, thematically. As for Mega Lucario, my opinion on the possibility relies entirely on what he would actually do while in the form. It might be interesting to see a mechanic where he transforms into Mega Lucario after a damage threshold, and his smash skills gain added effects (barring Final Smashes being implemented).

A couple of days ago, we've had Palkia revealed to be one of the Pokemon to be sent out of PokeBalls, attacking with Spacial Rend. Today, we've had a new assist trophy revealed. And... Yeah, I don't know how many people would have seen this one coming:

Let's give a warm welcome to everyone's favourite underdog... Little Mac!



This will certainly quell a lot of the fans dying for his inclusion! I am quite pleased to see that he is getting moved up in the world from Assist Trophy status to playable. It was expected, based on the Arena stage, but Mac is most definitely a welcome addition! I loved hearing Doc's motivational quotes to him in the trailer, as well as Samus sizing him up.

It appears that he will bring an interesting set of mechanics with him, into the fray, as well, which bodes well for the diversity that Smash thrives on. What, with Rosalina bringing the Lumas, the inclusion of Mega Man, and now Mac Daddy bringin' the hurt onto his opponents with his meter of sorts, Sm4sh is looking very impressive in terms of its characterization!

I must say, though, I am a little disappointed by what appears to be his Final Smash... HULK SMASH is not a particularly creative or innovative. After all, green is not a creative colour.
