Pokémon X and Y

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous Conjectures' started by Lord X-Giga-X, Jan 8, 2013.

  1. DAT BOXART

I really hope this actually confirms WPM's source.

... Also, I note one of the cities is called Lumiose. Wonder if this has anything to do with Xerneas's glowy antlers.

    probably not but ehhhh

  2. All this new Pokemon stuff makes me want to get a 3DS. Stahp.

  3. I think it's probably referencing Paris, The City of Light.

So, does anybody have a clue as to why it's called Karos?
I mean Unova's name was called Unova because "UNited states OF America"
And Kanto because of that region in Japan.
Johto because Johto means castle palace. (Referencing those towers, I think?)
    Hoenn mean "Rich Connection", iirc.
    And Sinnoh "God within". (Arceus?)

  4. I went through numerous translations, and found that: karo, shrub that produces shiny leaves with a soft white underside and red flowers (native to New Zealand).

So.... its telling us that the new region is supposed to represent New Zealand? *shot*

  5. I only want the game to slave around a Gogoat.

    (Damnit I need a 3DS.. ;___;)

  6. Wrong gen. :p

(also I read that as N-slave...)

  7. omgwtfbbq stahp boxart y u make me love this gen more and more

  8. WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOA!

It seems that Pokemon X and Y are getting a 90-minute presentation/Q&A at E3. June 11th starting at 6pm PDT. And that's within the timeframe of CoroCoro being leaked.

Looks like June's gonna be a great month for XY content.

  9. I just thought of something, note that this is a bit of a joke speculah.

What if Farfetch'd gets an evolution based off of duck a l'orange. Think about it. The joke with Farfetch'd is that, with it carrying a leek, it has what one needs to cook it. The Kalos region is based on France. Duck a l'orange is a French dish.

Best time for a Farfetch'd evo ever.

  10. So we're going to be getting a Pokemon Smash XY Special on June 16th. Like that'd really matter, seeing as we'd just be getting a refresher of what we already got from E3 and CoroCoro. Plus really, I don't think it's worth sitting through that weirdness just for that.... o___O
So yeah.... just wait for what we get from E3 and CoroCoro and BOOK IT!

Also, if they're really doing this E3 presentation/Q&A, then we can all guess one thing that's going to be brought up during this.

  11. Sylveon. Biggest ragenigma for a couple of forevers yet.

But, yes; I want to know more about Xerneas and Yveltal and the starters too. =U

  12. Well, apparently Nintendo Direct had a segment about XY. What was revealed:

-Unsurprisingly, Fairy-type was revealed. And included in this type are Sylveon (the Intertwining Pokemon), Gardevoir, Jigglypuff, and Marill. (The last three have it as an additional type, which makes Jigglypuff Normal/Fairy. Strange...) Two new attacks in this type have also been revealed: Moonblast (which Sylveon can learn; it can lower Sp Atk) and Fairy Wind (which Gardevoir can learn). In addition to being super effective to Ice and weak against Poison, it's confirmed to be super effective against Dragon.
-Two new Pokemon have been revealed.
First off, we have Noivern, the Sound Wave Pokemon. Flying/Dragon. (Flying as the primary type? That's unexpected.) It can learn a new attack called Boomburst, which can damage all other Pokemon on the field. Sounds like a good move if you don't mind hitting your allies in the process.
Second is Vivillon. Bug/Flying. Capable of learning Struggle Bug.
-There's a new interacting feature called Pokemon-amie. It looks.... interesting...
-Looking through screenshots of Pokemon-amie, apparently the male player is named Xavier. Charles anyone?
-And finally, it's been revealed that XY will be released worldwide on October 12.

All this can be seen in this new gameplay trailer.

If there's anything I missed, I'll try to edit in soon.

  13. *tears everything up whilst muttering "fuck you giga, i was trying"*

    Anyyywhoo~

One thing you missed was we can apparently "step on" Pokemon to encounter. If you look at the Helioptile's encounter around 0:45 in the video, you can see it read "Whoa! The wild Helioptile you stepped on attacked!"

What I'd like to know is what moves the two Legendary Pokemon are using towards the end of the video. Xerneas seems to be using Ice Beam (to me at least) but I can not tell you what Yvetal is using. Maybe another new move?

  14. Yeah, that one thing.

Anyway, went to look at the attack, and...
Yveltal's using Hyper Beam, which seems to have its Gen I sound effect again. o_O

  15. I WAS ABOUT TO POST "SHIT NINTENDO SAYS: FAIRY TYPE."

BUT OKAY I REDACT MY EARLIER HATE NOTICE.

This is awesome. Vivillon included. And I totally like these two knew ones.

    Also Xerneas Fairy/Ice GOGOGO.

  16. Yeah, let's all assume that Xerneas is an Ice type because it can learn Ice Beam.

Anyway, decided not to add this to the post above:
On the foreign sites, it's been said that Vivillion evolves from a Pokemon named Spewpa. Nothing has been said specifically about this Pokemon, nor do we know if this is even its English name.

  17. Anyone who thought Sylveon would be Flying can officially suck it.

    Xerneas Steel/Ice calling it now.
