OA Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

  1. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

Bryce heard a door shut and the voices blur behind a barrier, only calming him slightly, but also setting him into fear. What's going on? The only conscious connection he had was the soft warm grasp in his hand, which he desperately fought to try and feel completely. But the darkness held him down, ripping him apart inside and out....

Stu looked over at the man on the bed, his body writhing with pain and agony, and for a moment Stu had a metaphorical lightbulb appear over his head. It was dirty, barely shone, and had a few dead moths in it, but it was there. Stu stood up slowly and made himself known, looking at Sharra the the most saneness anyone had probably ever seen him have. "Lemme touch his head..." he muttered.

the serious face seemed to only be a hoax, because instantly Stu began to start spinning rapidly toward Bryce, making strange noises and occasionally squirting vinegar in Sharra's direction. "Just lemme get a quick poke and I promise I'll eat all your food!" he cackled as he spun around several times, slowly heading toward the pained Bryce.

Nositch looked at the rest of the group in silence, wondering what he could possibly do. He had admittedly little experience in using his powers for a healing purpose, having focused on how to use the weather to his advantage in combat. "While I know my powers well," he began an answer to Sharra's question, "I do not know them well enough to know how I could help him. If he's cold, I could easily warm him up, and the opposite if he has a fever. Unfortunately, that is all I can think of."

Noaitch thought for a moment. Maybe, he and this boy were not much different. Tormented by memories and pain constantly. Sure, the boy's was brought about by an outside source, while Nositch's was completely inward, but the thought still remained.

    [hr]

Solera ignored the man at first, not wishing to accept reality for the moment. However, he continued on with his small talk, slightly annoying Solera. She turned around, only to see the arc of flames coming from the man's scythe. "The only things we Kaichronans revere are the Kairos and Chronos, the true time and divine time," Solera began, nearly repeating word for word the lessons children in Chronopolis would receive so early on. "However, our ancestors did believe in a large Pantheon of rather silly deities, making new ones if ever a new concept or unfamiliar thing should arise. However, Kaichrona, and Chronopolis within it, were mere offspring of time itself."

As the two spoke, the young girl Solera had only seen lastnight came out. Solera felt a strange presence around her, as if the girl should have reeked of death. "My name is Solera Stigmí," the Kaichronan introduced, still sizing the girl up, "guard of the great city of Chronopolis, capital of the realm of Kaichrona."

Then, a massive pillar of light shone in the distance, its blue color spectacular against the bright yellow gleam of the morning sun. Solera, not knowing anything about this land scrutinized it for a moment. "Is that normal?" she asked, nodding in the direction of the seeming explosion. "Such a strange world this is..." she added in a whisper that only the keenest of ears would be able to detect.

Sharra's expression immediately changed to one of a complete lack of understanding as Stu requested for him to touch the head of an agonizing Bryce, which contorted into pure annoyance as the idiot began behaving like, well, an idiot afterwards. The Trained Sniper would have slammed him against the closed door, she would have dragged him out of the room, she would have smacked him to a point of unconsciousness... But her patience had a limit. And he was about to breach it. Sidestepping nonchalantly to avoid the transparent liquid, Sharra snapped at him, trying to maintain her usual tone of voice, but it was obvious she was angry.

"Stu, get out of here, or I swear I'll drive a bullet through your head right. Fucking. Now."

  4. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

"Let's start from the top. How old are you?"

"I don't know how long I've lived. I don't even remember a childhood. It's as if there is an eraser following me, and anything beyond a certain point within my memory is wiped away. I've tried the memory restorers, and even invested in the latest Memory Projector, but nothing works. It's almost as if my mind rejects these devices. The only thing I am absolutely certain of is my name, it's almost an unreal surety... as if it would be impossible to be anything else."

    ---

He walked a bit out from the shelter and through some trees. He'd have to finish with his pelts before finding the journal, but only because they had a life-span.

Something triggered within himself into action and in an instant, he leaped to the nearest branch, flipped upward to the next and continued this until he was atop the large tree, once again with his hand unconsciously grabbing into his folds for an item it would not find. His eyes were already fixed on the flying creature before his consciousness became aware of what he had done, let alone what he was looking at. They seemed to dilate as his conscious nature caught up with his unconscious actions. After a brief time, Fyuren finally registered what he was gazing at. A Flying, glowing thing headed this way. Glowing even in the sunlight.

He watched its approach warily, careful to remain relatively hidden within the topmost branches.

  5. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

    A disturbance.

Aniu's keen hearing picked up the rustle of leaves and branches and the forest itself alerted him to someone's presence. Or so he liked to believe. Perhaps it was merely the sheer refinement of his senses and awareness. Either way he cast his gaze below him, to the dark green leaves that withstood the harshest cold. He soared downwards now, his wings held out for balance as he came in to land not far from where Fyuren was hiding- not that he knew the human was there. Head and wings high, he looked around with scrutinizing eyes. As if he were ready to defend from some great threat.

Habit from his days of being alive.

And then in the corner of his eyes a glimpse of- something. Something that didn't belong in the trees. He couldn't tell what exactly without turning to face it, but it looked... human? He pretended not to know it was hiding there. Instead, he looked straight ahead, keeping it in his peripheral vision, and spoke out in a clear, calm voice, "Reveal yourself. So long as you intend no harm to myself or this forest, I will not attack you."

  6. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

Bryce freaked at the sudden chaos within the room, opening his eyes, but seeing nothing. Bryce yelled out in panic as he still saw darkness, albeit to everyone else in the room his eyes glowed with the intensity of the sun. Bryce desperately tried to move his body, but fatigue and an unknown force locks his figure into a twitching fit.

Stu stopped spinning and flew, or morelike tripped, toward Bryce, brushing Kaneli on accident and pushing her to the side. Stu reached forward with his vinegar-stained hands, gripping his fingers onto Bryce's head like a lock.

Bryce screamed out with fear, his whole body convulsing with confusion and panic. What was going on-

Bryce's body suddenly ceased to move, his whole body going limp, his eyes going dead, and his yells of agony died down. Suddenly Stu, too grew silent, his whole body ceasing any activity whatsoever. Stu's eyes suddenly shot open, somehow growing a bright white and lighting up the wall adjacent to where he was staring. His whole body rippled a moment along with Bryce's before Stu's eyes began softly changing color.....

  7. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

Kaneli quickly shifted her hazel gaze as the crazed man named Stu ran along wildly, grazing her side and dropping her down on the floor. With a slight sound of discomfort made by her right after, she quickly got up, looking like she was ready to strike the idiot with her strong and great fists. But, was that silence she heard? Kaneli thought for a moment as she whispered a thought she had that was not meant to be heard.

    "Why you little bastard-"

She looked at the two men closely, quietly. Both of them were in a trance-like mode....seeing that, her heart began to race quicker and quicker as she began to panic at the sight of the unusual silence and one of her fellow acquaintance in a complete coma. She quickly got closer to Bryce and Stu, looking quite afraid.

"B-Bryce..?" She whispered in a shaky way, "S-Stu..?"

Meanwhile, Scott- the silent man who kept himself locked in his room opened the door slightly. Just about a crack, and peaked his eyes out for a moment. The screaming stopped, the crazy hustle of everyone, stopped slightly. Scott sighed for a moment and shaked his head slowly, thinking that this shelter- along with it's residents, where something unheard of.

    Something, as he thought.

Something....a circus would have, to be honest.

  8. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

The Trained Sniper could not believe what had happened. The unfolding events were so abrupt, she completely lost the focus on reality as a mantle of silence shrouded the room. Tension condensed in the heavy atmosphere as the flow of time, for Sharra, seemed to delay--as seconds dragged on interminably. In a swift blur, she drew her Energy Drive handgun, immediately aiming it at the idiot who had apparently killed Bryce in an act of complete stupidity. She pulled the trigger... But stopped. No, Sharra noticed something strange. Bryce had not expired like she believed he had just fractions of seconds ago, This is just a reaction. And then she discerned, beyond her aiming gaze, unusual light being irregularly refracted in the wall of ice blocks. Stu's eyes were the source.

"Kaneli, look at this..." Sharra immediately stopped aiming, taking a few steps around to get a better viewing angle. The Trained Sniper blinked. Something was... forming. It was initially just pure, intense light, but it had become a blur, which, in turn, was becoming clearer. Features became more apparent, different colors could be discerned. It was a projection. She whispered to herself, "What the hell..."

  9. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

The projection swirled and swirled more, the blur stopping at the edges of the projection and suddenly a final view came in.....
Stu's eyes slowly faded back to normal, the projection dimming into nothing. Stu's body fell backward and hit the floor, completely knocked out. Bryce's body still lay motionless, breathing steadily. The room was completely silent for several minutes, the intensity of the information given palpable in the air.

  10. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

My name is Solera Stigmí, guard of the great city of Chronopolis, capital of the realm of Kaichrona.

The young amnesiac smiled, “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Miss Stigmí.” Despite the demeanor of this strange woman, Micayla could not help but be intrigued by the air of ferocity and assertiveness about her. There was just something within her that seemed to click when she looked at the woman; something so eerily familiar, yet so distant… Micayla couldn’t put her finger on it, but she recovered by introducing herself in turn. “My name is Micayla Copeland.” She sighed… it seemed that something about Solera was familiar to her. Ever since she lost her memory, the world had seemed so empty. So useless. So terrifying. Ramiro was her only anchor, and even he was indifferent to her. Almost apprehensive. She herself was frightened by his apathy, but was too hesitant to ask anything of him…

Ramiro grunted and turned his back on the girl. Her insolence would clearly not bring her any salvation in this land of damned souls and bitter tundra. From his new angle, he saw perfectly what Solera had referred to after she let loose her cookie-cutter greeting to Micayla, who had seemingly roused herself just for the occasion of listening to the two conflicting positions of ‘faith’ clash and butt heads. The pillar of light which Solera had commented on was clearly a sign. “It seems that the Gods of this land have heard you and answered with a sign,” Ramiro said, cryptically and with an air of mystery about him. “In my time here, I have yet to see something like this.” He began to wonder just what it was that had sent this beacon of light. He himself figured that the deities of this land had forsaken them long ago, leaving this dystopian shadow of land in its place, complete with a myriad of demons plaguing the nightfall…

We should investigate.” Ramiro was taken aback by Micayla’s sudden confidence. Before seeing Solera, she had seemed intimidated, and fearful. The sudden boost in her self-reliability was refreshing. From behind his mask, Ramiro’s mouth curled into a coy smile. “Yes, we ought to go and see what that is… if Solera has no disputes, we can break camp immediately.

The scene unfolded itself as the crazy Stu barges himself onto the unconscious boy. The light formed itself into a distinct picture that materialized itself in thin air. The scene was a disturbing one of blood and the tearing apart of an entire world. Nositch gazed upon it, extremely disturbed but finding himself unable to look away. Nositch shook his head as the display ended; a pair of deep, piercing red eyes staring out of it and seeming to linger even after it had gone away.

Despite the grim scene, Nositch chuckled to himself, if only out of realization. The thing that Stu revealed could be none other than a memory. A disturbing memory from the young unconscious boy."At least we know more about him," Nositch said, unable to find any other words. He could hardly take in what he saw.

He looked around, wondering how everyone else took it.

    [hr]

Solera nodded. She was admittedly more curious now that she knew that this was not a regular occurrence here in this frigid land. "Yes, let's go," she stated flatly, not revealing much, if any curiosity about the light, "It could be some more people. Perhaps someone who knows where we are.

Without paying much attention to the other two she had already met, she set out in the same direction as the light, ready for anything this land might bring, but still walking slow enough for them to catch up. If the light had come from other people, could they perhaps be other Kaichronans? Solera highly doubted it, but it could at least be someone who could tell her if she could get home.

  12. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

Eyes dancing across the landscape in search of options, Fyurendryl felt something he'd never felt before. Trapped. He wasn't sure why he was so worried, it was as if this creature were some great enemy he must evade at all costs. The light released some kind of unspoken message, but it was too late for reason.

The Caveman-esque being dropped a few branches, and with surprising strength, tore the the one he just upon straight out of the tree. He was acting now on almost pure instinct, his mind was near subdued as his body performed actions it appeared to be well trained to do. Slamming the three-inch-thick timber on his knee, it easily broke in half, creating two, very crude javelins. His mind beat against his impulsive behavior, trying desperately to regain control.

With a loud cry, as the creature would have no doubt noticed him by now rendering his stealth no longer necessary, and with a powerful headache, he released one of the jagged halves of the branches at the luminescent being with alarming speed. He was about to hurl the other when suddenly his inner turmoil exploded free, relieving his body of it's control, and unfortunately, his as well. As if he were nothing more than a doll, Fyuren slipped off the branch and fell through the branches to the ground...

  13. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

Upon hearing a branch snap, so Aniu's head likewise snapped around to face what was now clearly a human. He snorted. So much for a calm meeting, He thought dryly.

The human's battle-cry was enough warning and his golden aura engulfed his wings and fur, the spirit transitioning to his intangible state just before the branch-javelin would have struck him. The blow wouldn't have killed him- he was already dead, in any case- but it would have been painful and he wasn't sure how much he could be damaged in his Material form. At any rate, the branch passed harmlessly through the golden light, and Aniu saw almost before it happened that the human was going to fall. Torn between saving the human who had just attacked him or letting him fall so that he'd be somewhat easier to deal with, he compromised- speeding beneath the path of the fall while going back to his Material form, intending to catch the human on his back before dumping his assailant on the ground a few feet below.

  14. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

The flashes of each second phased past the girl's eyes. Simply put, Kaneli couldn't help but cringe at the bloody sight of a world merely ripped appart in a matter of moments. Kaneli thought to herself for a moment, her mind as empty as can be. Barely anything could be made out as she thought, just a cluster of brief flashbacks and haunting whispers. As soon as Kaneli forced herself to turn away, she felt that same chilling wave creep down her very spine, combining with her bloodstream and every so freezing her body with a paralizing fear of some sorts. After a moment, she turned to the duo and tried to speak, but she failed to do so. All she did was mumble a series of odd and unusual words, then bowed her head down.

It was obvious that Kaneli was beyond crushed at this moment. But as always, she tried her very best to hide it from the rest. Unknown as to why, It was at least understood as a gesture of consideration.

    ---------------------------

    Thud.

Scott closed the door again with a high sense of curiousity. He gazed at a particular silver item that was silently placed on a corner of the room. Slightly scratched up, yet, glowing with a shine due to the radiating and soft hue let out by a hanging chunk of ice mana above. Sure, Scott sure as heck had a need to absorb and filter that crystal due to his pre-set nature, but he resisted so much.

Scott sighed to himself, walking over to the Silver item- an Axe. "Fa...Fa geno kai testou." He mumbled to himself. But then, his eyes opened a little.

"Mina fa geno kai testou...." Scott tilted his head and silently spoke again, "Mina axeusi....kai geno fa axeusi helse foreu ka!"
Suddenly, Scott walked over to a pile of uniforms he had neatly folded on a chair and changed into his usual atire. Then walking out of his room and mindlessly walking towards the kitchen.

  15. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

No will. No sight. No hope. Falling... falling...

    ---

"I'd like to confide with you something I've told no one before. There have been many moments in my remembered life where I have acted without my mental consent. Not something simple or overlooked, but several minutes of decision making done by my bodies... instincts, for lack of a better word. I've killed birds with grass. I've climbed skyscrapers in mere minutes. I... I feel as if... I don't know how to say it... falling away..."

"Then we will just have to catch you."

"Catch me. Heh. I like that."

    ---

Thought! Control! What was missing nanoseconds before was now pouring back into his being like water into a glass. No matter how out of control he got, how far he fell, he always had someone to catch him. Fyurendryl's willpower radiated through his body, as his conscious took back control. Running calculations through his head faster than a super-computer, he knew this fall would kill him, but he had no fear. He would die as himself. Fyuren. Not the destructive animalistic machine he was a moment ago, but Fyurendryl the Inventor. He embraced his rapidly approaching death with a calm mind.

Suddenly a golden glimmer moved below him...

  16. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

The spirit felt the thud of the human upon his back, the spirit's golden-white fur revealed to be soft to the touch, more like a cat's than a wolf's. The fall wasn't enough to kill the human, especially not with that soft fur, but he'd be lucky if the impact hadn't knocked the breath from him. Aniu continued his flight, swerving around trees to avoid crashing before coming to a slight clearing. He was only a few feet from the snow, and sharply folded his right wing to corkscrew in that direction, dropping the human right there. With the snow, the human wouldn't be hurt too badly and if need be Aniu could deal with him on the ground. He continued his path even after landing, folding his eagle-like wings as soon as his paws hit the powdery ice and running a few meters before slowing to a stop. Warily, he turned to face the human that he'd saved, feeling a slight sense of accomplishment, and waited where he stood.

    (ehhhhhhhh short post)

  17. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

"A memory..." Sharra stared at the macabre projection, an unfolding catastrophe that had fallen upon the Crysian's homeworld. It was a black hole--a massive star which had collapsed in itself with its massive gravity, centering into a singularity--a point with a gravity value so titanic not even light could escape its all-encompassing grasp. And yet, there was something horribly wrong. Nearly at the finale, two red eyes pierced the void to stare at the viewer--or rather, Bryce. A malevolence so profound, so intense radiated from them... Was this what could be called true evil?

"Kaneli, you heard me." The Trained Sniper said, looking at the hammer-wielding woman, "Is there anything you can do?"

  18. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

The hammer-wielding woman simply looked at Sharra and nodded no, she seemed quite distracted and disconnected from reality itself for a moment. She turned back at Stu and the unconscious Crysian and simply stared for a moment. Her thoughts rattling,

It's almost like.....we both went through the same thing......

We lost what we loved.....people whom had a big role in our lives...

    ...Yet.....this time.....

.........This misfortune upon his people.....seems all too different..

With a weak whisper, Kaneli gave a little more detail on her refusal to do anything,

"Sorry Sharra," She said, "I.....I honestly don't know what to do in this situation..."

    ---------------------------------
With a slight smile across his pale face, Scott paraded down the hallway and made it to the kitchen. He looked around and tried to find Kaneli, but obviously she wasn't around at all. Scott sighed to himself after looking around and began to scrimmage around the kitchen- unknown as to why he was doing that, he let his wondrous hands feel around the counter tops riddled with plates and utensils. Suddenly, Scott's emerald eyes lit up with a slight glimmer of energy, then he suddenly made his way to the storage fridge where the meat supply was located at.

Besides all he was doing, any sign of that crazy and distressful man was well concealed.

    Maybe even gone.

  19. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

Stu's body twitched slightly, some mumblings coming from him until suddenly his now non-luminescent eyes burst open. Stu stood up and looked around a moment, scratching his head as he saw everyone in deep thought or in total shock.

"....." Stu stood there for a long moment, then simply walked out of the room after a long moment without a word.

Bryce's eyelids slowly flickered slightly as his body stirred. Finally, Bryce's eyes opened up, letting out a flow of tears that seemed to have been hiding under his eyes. Bryce looked over at everyone, his eyes filled with shock and surprise. Bryce already knew what had happened; when he felt the touch of a hand on his forehead, his mind seemed to stop and freefloat. He saw his memories fly away from him down a pathway, then projected through a light. The memories were returned to him, followed by a short moment of darkness.

Now he was awake, the full force of the memories hitting him. Before, only flashes of these terrible nightmares haunted him; he'd seemed to have forgotten all about it, a subconscious block toward the traumatizing memory. But now they hit full-force, the power and severity of what had happened hitting him powerfully. He remembered every bit, running from the crystal fields into the street, seeing thousands of people being ripped into the sky, gripping onto the pole with all his might... his whole race disintegrating before his eyes....

Bryce let out a short wail before cringing away from everybody, tears coming off and running down his cheeks despite his efforts to detain them. But now he realized he didn't want to hold them back; how could he not cry, not mourn for his entire race? It seemed inappropriate to pull it all in. And so, Bryce cried, gripping the bed from the sheer power of the feeling of grief overcoming him. The physical pain no longer added up or even came close to the loss of his family, his friends, his kin... his planet.

Bryce's vision blurred as he let his feelings flow from him like a torrent.

  20. Re: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

Nositch gave a small smirk as the boy let his.emotions overcome him. Who could blame him? Nositch himself spent many a night doing much the same for the first few years of his travels; even now, the flames sometimes cascaded into his memory, replacing current situations with the grief.that followed. Sure, a small mountain village could not compare with an entire planet, but in a way, Nositch and Bryce were much the same.

The boy then turned away, most likely to hide the surge of emotion that had been freed by Stu. For only a moment, Nositch paused to think of what he should do. Then, he walked forword out of the crowd that had gathered around the boy and put a hand on his shoulder.

Nositch knew that he would most likely be pushed away; that Bryce would not want to be comforted. However, Nositch knew what the boy's pain felt like, and he could not leave that be.

"I know how you feel," Nositch said quietly to the boy, a soft smile on the traveler's face, "believe me, I know how hard it is. I don't have a home to go back to either; it's gone, as it has been for many years now.
