  1. ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky ~

    "Alright, we're back."

The voice resonated through the underground shelter, as a female stepped inside and nonchalantly closed the frozen steel door behind her, which muffled the howling of the algid gales from the outside. Her piercing, confident gaze of amethyst appeared to analyze the area, despite it being her own home, as silvery threads of hair that extended beyond her waist seemed to almost flow harmonically. A white band secured by two elegant, silver butterflies rested on her head; an intricately patterned outfit as pure as the snow contrasted a phantom black skirt; a solitary, achromatic rose was displayed just above chest-level, where a triangular spot devoid of color featured an enigmatic, heart-shaped symbol. On her hand, an unidentified model of a semi-automatic handgun was held, a peculiar sphere glowing dimly cyan--a strangely soothing glow akin to Ice Mana Crystals'.

    Her name was Sharra Xirro.

The Trained Sniper looked contently around her own shelter. Identical-looking blocks of solid ice lined the walls and the ceiling, giving the ethereal feel the whole complex was suspended in a world of total darkness--a perpetually extending void without light. The main source of illumination was an evidently enormous formation of crystallized Ice Mana that was positioned in the center of the spacious room, apparently sustaining the structure. Crackling flames proved the existence of a small fireplace, located so that the emitted heat wouldn't melt the surrounding blocks of frozen water. There was a sizable, wooden table with several chairs that was often used to have breakfast, lunch or dinner and a smaller one that was restricted for her work. Three corridors in total branched from this HUB room, lit not by the huge Ice Mana Crystal, but smaller ceiling ones which provided a rather dim light. The first two opposed each other, leading to the guest quarters, eight in total, recently expanded so that the shelter would be able to house more people. The third was considerably shorter, and it lead to Sharra's own room.

"Kaneli, you there?" She called, her tone slightly higher than her previous statement's, "It's almost nighttime--mind cooking for us again, dear?"

  2. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

    Kaneli:

A bright chocolate-eyed look flashed at the tall-standing woman with a rather surprised look, and also a slightly tired one as well.

Kaneli was her name indeed; A young woman only 18 years young, barely up among the fruits of adulthood she stood. Sitting upon a wooden chair in which creaked when she moved slightly, she stood up and took a stretch.
"Well then, Time passed by so quickly for you guys while everything seemed to have gone so slow for me." She chuckled a bit playfully. A radiant sound of cheerfulness echoed around the room as her mouth sputtered those words in a rather quick manner- She was one to speak rapidly. But despite of her apperant happiness and her pretty face, she hid deep sorrow and a mourning burden on her shoulders.

Being left alone. Having to let go a line which kept her connected to the planet she stepped on....Having a smile like hers showed much strength in her. It came natural to her, sadly. She acted like if it was only second nature.

She let out a smile with her light pink coloured lips,"As for your question- Sure thing~"

    Scott:
As the night began to take it's place among the riged skies of the planet, The blond haired man- just about the age of 19 stood in complete silence. His gaze curiously shifted back and fourth between the two women in front of him, and the fireplace. Scott Brita- A very curious man who conciels himself in a shroud of secrecy. Only to daze the people around him and fire out small but suddle details of himself with words nobody can ever understand. He sat on a chair just a bit away from Kaneli with his scratched up fingers 'druming' a rythm on the bend of his knee. A gaze of neutral wonder filled his face of an expression only he can explain.

He just sat and stared. Nothing else.

  3. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

He watched as the sun reached its final limits, peaking as much light as it could from it's low angle. The radiant yellow light dispersed along the sky, altering deeper through and beyond the hues of red until finally reaching the dark blue of the near night sky.

Fyuren returned his focus to his work. The large deer skin was near complete, a few final touches and he would be returning just before the last of the sun passed beyond the horizon and plunged the world into darkness. He had to maintain himself, keep busy. The constant work was more than just a means to replace his current... planty... wardrobe, but it helped him remember his old life... before the "trial". Back when he could work wonders with the vast technology available and even some not so obtainable. The things he could do with reactor core marveled all he knew. He had such a future back then... if only...

He pushed the thoughts from his mind. That was then, let's focus on the now. His hands expertly combed across the fur, brushing out the near non-existent imperfections before pulling the skin over his shoulders and pulling his arms through the arm holes. It was a bit tight, but the deer was smaller than hoped. It'll do until the other skin is ready.

The light had gone down more than intended. He'd been dwelling more on the past more than ever. He should have been half-way back home now if it weren't for that ship... out of all the devices, it had to pick up on the one that dumps him almost no better than when he started. I'm doing it again, I need to get back. He did just that; started back to the primitive bunker...

  4. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

Something nearly as bright as the last few rays of the sun lay atop a small cliff, watching with consternation the ever-darkening sky. From the ground, all one would see was a soft golden glow, but upon reaching a better angle, a creature somewhat resembling a large, gold-and-white wolf with the wings of an eagle would meet their eyes. It was he who radiated this visible aura, a spirit named Aniu who considered himself to be a guardian of the nearby forest. And it was his sapphire eyes that watched the arctic wolves return to their dens, their only protection against the dreaded... creatures known simply as the Nightmares. He sighed.

He had his protections against them. He could fly and they could not, and being a spirit, he could soar for the entire night to avoid them. But if he needed to get closer to the ground to protect someone or something, he would easily be in range- but as was proven just recently, he could cause the golden aura radiating from his fur to become so bright that the Nightmares simply vanished during the flash- and though they returned quickly, it was enough for him to do what he needed to do. Aniu had protected the ones he'd meant to, and even though one had suffered The Nightmare's Touch it had only seemed to be a glancing blow.

... Still a spot on his "record". So many minor fails and half-victories when doing his duty lately. First, a ship had crashed in his forest, not only destroying a small chunk of it but destroying his own makeshift shelter. A guardian of the forest? When Aniu had approached the crash site to investigate(stopping on the way to observe the girl he would later rescue, as it was rare that he saw anyone in his forest other than the wolves), he'd simply mourned at the lost of his shelter and not having been able to do anything to prevent it. Yes, at night shelter was more important than a small part of the forest, but...

Aniu shook his head to clear his thoughts. The night approached swiftly, and if he was caught on the ground when a Nightmare just happened to be there- he was a spirit, not a spirit protected by the shell that was a living body. He might have looked alive- in his material form. But in essence he was still the very thing that the Nightmare's Touch damaged...

... Speaking of which. He sighed again, standing and spreading his magnificent wings. He needed to get going. But then a thought occured to him- a way to prove to himself that half-victories and their ilk weren't his lot. Aniu had something besides the forest to protect now.

    He took wing.

  5. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

Nositch Muraki stood just behind the three others who had walked inside with him, his eyes gazing about the structure. An assortment of ice and fire graced the shelter, arranged so that they could coexist without the ice melting. Most of the light came from ice mana crystals, giving the corridors a rather ethereal glow.

Slightly amazed, but mostly just tired, Nositch looked towards Sharra, then to Kaneli. "A bit of food does sound pretty good right now," Nositch admitted, his stomach starting to growl now that he was thinking about a meal, "I haven't had a cooked meal in a while now."

  6. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

As impeccable time as ever, a body suddenly flew out of nowhere, slamming into a wall and hitting the ground once again with a loud thud. Stu looked up at everyone from his new vantage point, speaking in what seemed to be German. He pointed his hands at the ceiling and shot a fountain of vinegar, which hit half of the fire and putting some of it out.

Stu looked over at the fire, then at Sharra. ".....I swear it wasn't me." He said simply, rolling away on the ground in an effort to flee.

Meanwhile, laying in a dark room, Bryce groaned as night terrors struck his thoughts. His whole upper torso was stripped of clothing, instead almost completely covered in bandages. The ravaging wolves made of shadow had truly torn him apart, leaving him to die. Luckily he had been found in time...

He moaned louder and louder, his body surging with pain along with his mind. A small blast of energy left Bryce's body in rage and agony, hitting the walls with a small bang. He was in true despair.... his whole planet ravaged to pieces before his eyes. Why couldn't he have been done with next to his people?...

  7. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

The sun was nestling itself in with the arctic terrain, casting an enigmatic purple glow across the plains where Ramiro de Luca made his shelter. His black hair rustled in the wind as, behind his mask, he prepared for yet another night of agony in protecting both himself and his amnesiac companion. Micayla, her name was. Turning his head to see the shelter itself in his peripheral vision, he saw her poking her head inquisitively out of the ornately decorated tent, as though she was wondering what he was up to. “What is it, girl? What do you want?” Harshly, he barked at her through his mask, slightly blocking out the sound and giving the words a harder edge; coincidentally provoking the wind to speed itself up in its assault upon the world. She looked timid, as though he had just laid a blow upon her cheek.

“It is cold, sir. I was only wondering…” she furrowed her brow, deep in concentration, as though she were attempting to recall something, before speaking again, “…nevermind. Just come inside soon…” With that, she poked her head back inside of the tent. Ramiro sighed. The girl made him uncomfortable. She couldn’t be a witch; she had not displayed any of the regular signs… however, the aura of death that she gave off was unquestionable. He feared that, if not kept in check, she would destroy him.

He turned and reentered the shelter. It was a modest place; nothing short of quaint for the constant travelling of the duo. In the centre of the rounded pagoda lay a humble fire pit, which, though unlit, Micayla hovered around, looking at him pleadingly to coax a flame out of the coals. Again, he sighed. Channeling his Mana into a single finger, he gestured at the pit. Exploding into a roaring fire, the surge of heat soothed the two companions. They sat in silence for a number of minutes, before Ramiro spoke up…

“Get some rest. I’ll keep watch for those ceaseless witcheries.”

Obeying him solely out of fear, Micayla curled up beside the fire, though at a safe enough distance to not catch from a rogue spark. Ramiro’s painted mask watched her like a hawk until he was sure that she was asleep. The phantom beings from the beyond tormented the pair endlessly. He wondered whether they would find civilization soon, or would they be doomed to face the bitter cold on their own wits alone? But most of all, the prime thought in Ramiro’s mind, was what madness lurked beyond the defenseless demeanor of the blonde girl that slept in front of him…?

  8. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

"You know what to do, then," a light smile crossed her expression as she heard Kaneli agree. She, of all people, knew that Kaneli needed a way to distract herself from the grim thoughts of her deceased sister, as it only served to fuel the Nightmare's Touch and depress her even further. Her gaze shifted from her to the sitting man who was shrouded in complete, almost eerie silence, "Hello, little guy."

However, the smile completely vanished as a person flew across the room, painfully crashing into the wall. She heard the ice crack as the body slumped over the ground and started speaking in a foreign tongue Sharra didn't understand, to add to her irritation. One could very easily label him a mentally challenged person, or that is what the Trained Sniper believed him to be, at least. She finally managed to open her mouth at Stu's rather bizarre appearance act in order to spit out an angry complaint, but the words never left her mouth. He extended his hands before launching a liquid from them that fountained into the medium-sized fireplace, reducing it into a petite, sizzling struggle of small embers.

She nearly felt a vein snapping inside her brain as Stu had the audacity to not only deny the happening immediately after its occurrence, but to attempt to flee. In an impossibly swift motion, Sharra appeared to blur and unfocus out of reality as she appeared next to the rolling retard in the same manner, quickly grasping his shirt and lifting him up.

"I thought I told you to behave," Sharra nearly spat, trying to maintain herself collected. She surely wasn't going to stand this fool, especially since this was her own abode, "If you--" a small bang that came from inside a room--Bryce's room made Sharra loosen her grasp on Stu, letting him fall to the ground again, "Now what?" she sighed, glancing back at Scott, "Little guy, could you check on Bryce?"

  9. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

    Kaneli--------------------------------
Her face filled with some joy at somewhat hearing and figuring that she was depended on when it came to 'fine' food. She wasn't such an expert on delivering such cuisines in this vast blanket of mystic white wonder they seemed to have adapted as 'home'- especially since many items such as spices and fruit were either not found at this time of year or were not available. Period. So what Kaneli had in her spice bag was simply something rare, thus, wanted.

She looked at her fingers calmly and smiled, "Well then how about some seasoned wolf meat- I know it's not much, but you know.....Variety paints one red dot among the dots of black....Desire ensues upon the most various of wonders." Kaneli stopped for a moment, then shrugged. "Oops, Kinda...Really didn't mean to drop any of you a hint of gibberish. I'll get to it now, but I'd like someone to at least help me cut the meat a bit, my hands will be awfully full."

    --------------------------------------------------------------

    Scott------------------------------------------------

As the soft and charming words of Kaneli escaped her mouth, those chosen splendors of sound echoed into Scott's silent mind in a way that made Scott stand up and walk over to Kaneli. He stared at her with a gaze that would mostly split the heart of one. But it was normal for Scott- his face would show so many solid expressions yet, his emerald coloured eyes remained the same. Serious, blank, mysterious. With a radiant shine it shown even when he expresses nothing.

    Nothing...

    Was something to him.

Scott gently placed his scratched up hand on Kaneli's shoulder and gave off a small smile at the woman, suggesting her that he would be happy to assist her. But after a thought surged into his mind, he retreated his hand and simply turned back.

His cheeks warmed up slightly at the stupid move he made. And only one peep was made by him, "Ja...." He whispered with an uneasy tone.
    ------------------------------------------

    Both Scott and Kaneli--------------------------------------

"...Wait, what the heck are you even doing?" She said in a surprised tone. It was clear that Kaneli did not like being handled in any way. But she brushed it off as Scott stepped back and whispered a word without definition. She then got back to what she was then about to do.

But as she was about ready to pull out that bag of spices for the nighttime ritual, a suddenly harsh yell was made far from where she was. Kaneli stopped for a moment and looked towards that direction. Whispering, "What the-"

She suddenly looked at the rest, then said in a stern voice "C'mon guys, This doesn't sound so good."

She then ran in a worry she only shows to her friends- well acquainted people, of course.

Scott glanced at Sharra and nodded. He obeyed her word and got up, following right after. [/spoiler]

  10. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

    Stu:
Stu took the moment to poke Sharra in the face despite the fact he was almost mauled beyond comprehension, then ran around the room laughing before slamming into the very same place as before. The crack surged up the wall, making some of the ceiling chip off and hit Stu on the head. Stu hit the floor with another thud, suddenly speaking in German once again. Stu lifted his hands, a sudden threat of the fire approaching as for some odd reason he began to repeat his actions.

    Bryce:
Bryce paid no heed to anyone who entered the room, his coma keeping his conscience locked in a room of terror, to forever replay his world ripping to pieces and sucked into the mouth of pure darkness. His hands had a death grip on the bed he laid in, his body convulsing slightly as he let out another orb of energy that dissipated. At this pace, the night terror was slowly tearing himself apart, making him loose more energy than he could afford. His body slowly began to relax as his loud yells turned into quiet, lengthened moans.

  11. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

Darkness was coming fast. Too fast. Running through the myriad of trees, the young girl seemed to disappear at times, reappearing a few feet ahead. Remembering the night before, she knew that she would have to find shelter soon. Those strange aberrations of energy would hardly leave her alone -- she only barely escaped their touch.

"Kairos... orizei... chrono," she mumbled under her breath, repeating the motto of her home realm of Kaichrona, "I cannot die here... I will not. By the council of Chronopolis, I, Solera Stigmí will return... Somehow."

The girl named Solera stopped. Seeing a small light in the distance, she knew that it must have been a fire. If not for the extreme danger of this new realm, she would not even head near, but she knew that she had to, if only for her own safety.

She started toward what she knew had to have been a shelter, her long white hair, decorated with ponytails, bobbing against her waist and the large, clock-like weapon on her back. As she got closer, she could see the outline of the makeshift shelter becoming clear.

The sun finally decided to take its final, lazy drop over the horizon, where it would give light and safety to another land... and leave them behind here. Finally making her way to the shelter, she looked upon it with a scrutinizing eye. "Not the best I've seen," she criticized, hardly able to find anything good to say even in this situation, "but it'll have to do... at least for tonight. Is anyone there?" she finally asked in a loud voice. "If so, you need practice making shelters," she added with a quiet, almost-whisper.

  12. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

    Ugh...

The bony hand of the man named Devis Gurien was covering his face as he struggled to awaken from his slumber, which had been interrupted by the sound of a small bang. To his surprise, he found himself lying in a corner of the HUB room. What made him sleep there in the first place was a mystery to himself, as to why he decided to take a nap, whether he was tired or just bored at the time.

But those questions were cast aside by a different question, as the creepy red eye on the back of his hand watched as Kaneli and Scott left the room and down one of the corridors, leaving him to wonder what the hell was going on. He removed his hand from his face and placed it upon a nearby wall, his claws digging into it as his struggled to stand up. His silver eyes glanced at the corridor for several seconds, then glanced Sharra. Upon finally getting onto his feet, he asked, in somewhat of a tired tone, "Sharra, what's going on this time?"

  13. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

    Smack.

Sharra was now directly in front the unconscious body of Stu, wielding her enigmatic weapon from the muzzle, signifying she had just smashed him with the hard, solid grip just as he had attempted to run away for a second time. The Trained Sniper knew she had went too far, but so had Stu--the blow was just supposed to cause unconsciousness by the shock of the impact, anyway. With a single-handed motion, the gun was in an optimized holster attached to the reinforced thigh-high stockings she wore.

"Well, what a day this has been, hm?" she turned to Devis, who had just woken up and had asked a question she couldn't even respond accurately to, "It's probably Bryce again." and, as if she didn't want others to notice her concern, she simply added in her own thoughts, I wonder what really happened to that kid.

  14. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

"So does this happen often?" Nositch asked as Sharra finished dealing with the strange, seemingly demented person that had slammed against the ice and put out the fire. "I must say it seemed like it with the way you handled it."

Chuckling slightly, this was not the first time he had seen someone act in a similar way in his travels. many times when visiting different towns and villages, Nositch had seen playful children act in much the same way with each other. The only thing that really got to him, however, was that someone as old as Stu was acting like that. Someone of that age should have been ashamed by that display of behavior.

  15. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

Kaneli opened the door carefully and looked around the room which was slightly ravaged by Bryce's sudden burst of insanity. She gave off a look of pitty, sensing that the man was indeed in dire pain- physically and emotionally. She proceeded quietly to his bedside and placed her hand on his forehead. "Fever."

Scott soon entered the room as well. His energy field then began to reveal itself and flash a light green light for a moment; signaling that the mana flowing around him was low, unstable. Scott then proceeded to the bedside and looked at him to see what was wrong.

"Blondie," She whispered. " Can you get me my bag, it's at the table.."

Scott simply hid his response. The frigid emerald eyes stood unchanged, but his expression showed a slight sign of either annoyance..

    Or slight jealousy.

Scott simply left the room and headed towards the table with a slight poise. Each step he took, he grunted a few words. But then smiled for some reason when he reached the bag.

Once he reached and grabbed the bag, he quickly went back into the room and handed it to Kaneli. His face, yet again.....showed no more expression while he remained in an eerie shroud silence.

As a blast of energy is released again, Kaneli jumped with surprise and yelled out a little "Ahh! Hey! Calm down! I'm not an enemy!" She simply grabbed his hand carefully and placed it down, trying to calm down the distressed man.

"Ja." Scott mumbled while he looked at the energy ball being released.

"My goodness- Not even I would act this way when sick." She whispered.

  16. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

A blur of bright gold shot across the rapidly darkening sky. With the speed it moved it might have been mistaken for a comet if it was not quite so large. Or winged.

Aniu sped through the air, his visible aura seeming a little brighter, blurring out the winged wolf underneath as the spirit was in the middle of his transition from Material Form to his vague and intangible Spirit form. This was more protection than anythiing else; physical blows did harm his Material form but instead passed harmlesslly through the Spirit form. He wasn't concerned with those he'd rescued and their companions- he was fairly certain he would be recognized and not attacked. But who was to say that they were the only ones settling upon the tundra?

It also aided his speed. As his form blurred and finally vanished into a golden aura in the vague shape of a winged wolf, he was no longer restricted to how fast his wings could drive him, and instead his speed picked up as levitation took over.

He really had to stop idling away his time. Not that he had to eat or sleep, and his time wasn't even limited as was forseeable, but the endless days and nights with nothing of purpose to occupy himself with sometimes got to him. Aniu vaguely wondered what had become of those two that he had rescued. They seemed in good hands...

His thoughts were cut short as he caught a shout below. Glancing down, Aniu spotted a girl and a quite ornate tent... He glanced at the sun's position. Dangerously close to nightfall, but the girl seemed to have shelter- or was she asking for it? Lost in his thoughts, he hovered above, a bit behind the girl, rather, and waited to make sure she would be accepted into the tent.

  17. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

In a land of cold, sunset is as unwelcome as a faulty energy core. Not only is everything plunged into darkness, but the frigid temperature drops even more. For once, Fyuren was feeling grateful for the Release Chip built into his brain. A simple device that simply allowed the person to control more systems within his body, such as body heat or memory. Although Fyuren loved technology more than most, he never could get past the idea of having it inside him. This is why he turned down the few opportunities to become partly cybertronic. Now he wished he had added more... at least he'd have something to tinker with. Maybe he could get Sharra to let him mess with her gun...

He was coming up on the underground shelter now, and the sun was almost gone. He brushed off his new fur vest for no real reason as he went down the steps. After an unsuccessful attempt to open the door, he realized he had been locked out... again. Sighing, he rapped at the door. They sure are tight on security...

  18. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

    "Unfortunately, it does."

Sharra took a single step backward, leaning to the immense Ice Mana Crystal. It was a cool, refreshing sensation due to the fact the Ice Mana inside grew active upon having a body in contact with the natural structure. She said nothing else. Her mind was completely onto entirely different, a distressing thought that had surfaced when she wondered about Kaneli. Usually wouldn't have been assaulted by it, but considering the recent events and revelations, it was inevitable. Sharra took a deep breath, attempting to clear her mind, and finally exhaling her grief. It was now she who needed a way to distract herself.

Short, metallic rapping broke her concentration. She had completely forgotten Fyuren had gone out, and she had nearly locked him outside, with the nocturnal, phantasmal legion that was the merciless Nightmares. The Trained Sniper turned to Devis,

"It's probably Fyuren. Mind opening the door?"

  19. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

Kaneli glanced around the room as she stood her spot with a a stern expression. With the worry that she couldn’t calm and contain Bryce increasing, she quickly gave out a groan and nodded her head ever so slightly. Her young eyes were very dim now. A tired feeling filled her face and made her a little more sluggy. She hasn’t slept well in two nights, and maybe this night wasn’t gonna be any different.

Her dreams were her own torture. A chasm of darkness- feeding off the shadowy depths of a dampened soul. The memory of a crushed little girl who was her sister haunted her. The bloody girl- crimson liquid running down her head while under the weight of a huge ship crushed her heart every night, every day, every moment…..every second. But as always, Kaneli did her best to keep the racing tears from parading down her soft face. She did her best to look brave. But Kaneli couldn't help but whisper to herself.

“…I’ll be heading off now. I think I can cut the meat myself.” She whispered, then walked out of the room where she glanced slightly at her room as she was in the hallway, thinking,

    “…Another sleepless night..”

Scott stood sitting on Bryce’s with a bewildered glare while he watched Kaneli walk off.

“….“ He stood there. He looked confused and concerned, but his only focus right now was to make sure things were a little alright for everyone else and not for him. Because under his situation, anything that did not involve him being home was not normal for him. But Scott never seemed to have placed his own wellbeing over anyone.

He simply placed his hand on Bryce and patted it softly thinking that it might help.

  20. RE: Arc 0 ~ An Aurora in the Night Sky

The flame crackled in an uproarious fashion. Its core intrigued the Witch Hunter; he had always had a love for watching the flames dance about with the shadows, casting an intricate, ever-changing Rorschach on every surface. Today, they played on the person of the sleeping Micayla. It would be so easy for him to simply relieve her of her life; though Ramiro could not stand to have the blood of an innocent on his hands. His scythe rested uncomfortably against his back, as he became very much aware of its presence in his life…

Suddenly, an uncanny rustle snapped him out of his thoughts as he whipped around, scythe already in hand with its sickening curve glinting from the light of the backdrop of flame. He prodded his wicked weapon through the opening of the lean-to, hearing a distinctly feminine, if ethereal voice, with an accent the likes of which Ramiro had never heard before. He growled at the girl outside of the tent, silently, so as not to awaken Micayla, “State your purpose of being here…” It was not a question; it was a demand. Her cynicism towards the shelter was not what had gotten Ramiro, so much as her eagerness to barge in and take up precious space and resources…

…Or perhaps he was unnerved that he had come so close to being alone with his thoughts, but yet so far away with a new disturbance?
