Now that she only had one to deal with, the fight should start to go a lot smoother. Then again, they'd have to deal with that water elemental...

It crashed against the Razortooth's skin and burned it causing it to cry out before keeling over in defeat. Wesley smiled. His cerulean-colored teeth shone brightly. "Now to deal with the elemental..." his eyes fell to the featureless figure in the distance.

    The elemental rippled rather violently as Asima suddenly drew closer to it. The watery gel that composed its body sloshed in a very unserene manner as if to denote that it was now taking the woman's advance as a threat. It wasted no time in swiftly closing the gap between itself and Asima – blazing a new path of river with it – and unleashing a watery surge that seemed to sting more in the rainfall.

    Wesley quickly mixed up another healing salve as the elemental approached. He knew that with Asima drawing closer to it that a fight would be inevitable.   10. "Damn," the dark-skinned girl grunted. Getting hit by the elemental was a strange sensation--it hurt physically, but not in the same way that getting punched felt. Regardless, the elemental packed a nasty punch, but it wasn't until she heard the glass break and the rushing relief of a health potion that she smirked and chuckled. "Thanks Wes!" she called out. If he kept that up, she could definitely fight this thing. Well, as long as a knife worked against it...

  12. Asima whimpered as the liquid whip struck her. "I didn't even want to fight you," she grumbled under her breath. She allowed herself a moment to breathe, before focusing intently on the fight in front of her. The fight with the razortooths and now getting slapped around by water had spiked her adrenaline, but she'd kept in in check. No more. She adjusted her stance and dove at the elemental.

  16. With the elemental defeated, Wesley breathed a sigh of relief. He had worried Asima might not have the power to fell it, but she had proved him wrong and now all that remained was to pick the Dancing Aquaria Lillies and be on their way back to Arcedes. Not taking the chance for another elemental to appear, the chemist quickly waded out in the river over to the mossy rock and plucked both of the twirling flowers. "There we go," he called out cheerfully, "let's head back before it gets too dark!"

    The duo traveled back to Wesley's house with a spring in their steps. With the Bubble Dream Berries and the Dancing Aquaria Lillies, Wesley now had everything he needed to make the potion he had been attempting to craft for some time. He did not fork over the cash reward Asima had so desired right away. "I insist you wait until I finish," he had said, sitting at his work table immediately after entering the curious building. Asima, with no other option, was forced to wait as the man dashed about from instrument to apparatus, mixing and blending and crushing and combining ingredients. It took all of fifteen minutes before Wesley held up a large beaker filled with the most beautiful cyan liquid.

    "Eureka!" he cried, pouring a small portion of the contents into a vial. He quickly tossed it back without the slightest bit of hesitation, hardly swallowing before rushing over to an absolutely massive glass container in the adjoining room. Asima could see that it had been filled with water and had a small slot. Wesley finished swallowing the liquid and then shoved his head through the slot. A pang of panic might have rushed through Asima's heart, but it faded as Wesley did not seem phased by the water. In fact, it seemed he could breathe just as fine as if the water were air! He stayed with his head crammed in the tank for a few more seconds before pulling out and smiling his strange cerulean smile.

    "It works," he chimed, grabbing a towel from the nearby desk. He quickly dried his face and hair before returning to Asima with the beaker. He poured another small amount into a vial and handed it over to Asima along with the promised forty gold pieces. "My greatest thanks to you, Asima. I could not have perfected this Hydrophilia Potion without your help! As promised, here are the forty gold pieces and, as my special gift to you, a sample of that very potion. Drinking it will make you able to breathe underwater and resist the effects of water mana for a short while. And I will make sure to call upon you should I ever require your services again. Thank you!" He paused for a minute, smiling widely. His blue teeth shone vibrantly. It soon faded. "I hate to be rude, but I must ask you to leave. I still have a lot of work to get done and must concoct more of this potion... you understand, right?"

  17. Asima sighed heavily, wiping sweat from her brow.  She thought the elemental would have put up a little  bit more of a fight, but all of the adrenaline coursing through Asima's system was most likely what got her through the fight. She flashed a wide smile at Wesley, as he ran out into the river to collect his reagents. "Nice work!" she called out, trotting to the river bank with her client. Once he retrieved it, the duo headed back to his residence.

    When they arrived, Asima was expecting him to pay her and she would head back to the inn for the night, but instead he invited her in, then set up his worktable and busied himself with the process of starting his concoction. She folded her arms and leaned against the wall, watching the chemist work with a smirk playing about her lips. It didn't take him long to brew his potion. "It's pretty," she remarked, staring at the cyan liquid. "What's it d-" She didn't get to finish her question, because the man had already chugged a bit of it down. She blinked several times before getting up and following him into another room that had a large tank of water in it. She wanted to ask what he was doing, but she knew he'd just do something strange again. Maybe this would answer her question?

    Wesley then proceeded to shove his head into a slot on the tank, as if he were trying to drown himself. A look of concern briefly crossed the girl's facial expression, but it just as quickly faded as she realized everything the scientist was doing was for a purpose. Eventually, she realized he was breathing in the water just as naturally as if it were air. "I guess that's what it does," she said to herself. The man finally pulled his head out, his oddly-colored teeth visible in a smile. Asima grinned back at him.

    "I would hope it works, I didn't want you to drown yourself right after I spent the afternoon protecting you from river beasts," she teased. Wesley explained to the refugee the effects of the potion. He then promised to call upon her again if ever her services were required, then quickly switched topics to kicking her out. Asima giggled as she walked through his laboratory-house fusion. "Alright, alright. Take it easy, Wes," she said with a lazy wave.

    She stood outside his door for a second, still laughing to herself. What a strange fellow. I do like him though. He's kind enough, I suppose. She took in a deep breath, a smile still on her face, then headed back to the inn.
     
  18. And so Asima head back toward the inn with a smile on her face and some gold in her pockets. The inn was not as quiet as the young refugee might have hoped when she returned. Miss Mayella had worked herself into a frenzy in the time between breakfast and well after dinner. She stopped short upon seeing Asima, quickly wrapping the girl in a tight hug.

    "My goodness chile," she breathed, her tone hinting at immense relief, "I was worried you mighta gottin lost." She held the girl close for a few minutes before letting her down and giving her a good look over. She smiled her trademark pearly smile, but it did not last too long. Her brow furrowed and her eyes darted to the door. "Listen baby girl," she started, her tone almost anxious. "The guards've tole me there's a boy comin' to stay at the inn – another refugee – but I 'aven't see hide or tail of 'im all day. I'm worried he mighta gottin lost in one of the pubs. I know that it's late and you're prolly tire' but can you go an look fer 'im?" She took Asima's hand gingerly. "I can't leave right now. Miss Lena needs all the help she can get what with those pesky rats infesting her home. What do you say?"
     
  19. Asima managed a small laugh whilst Mayella crushed the girl's ribcage. "'m fine, the job just took a little longer than I thought," she giggled. As the innkeeper explained the situation with the new refugee boy, Asima almost immediately ran out the door, but managed to keep herself still long enough for Mayella to finish explaining. "It's no problem at all, miss Mayella," the girl said. "I almost dashed out the door as soon as you said you hadn't seen him yet. I'll bring him back in one piece, promise!" Asima flashed a smile at Mayella and headed for the door.

    She jogged through the building, heading first to the pub that she'd been at only the night before. Chances are if Asima got stuck there, so would the new refugee. She pushed her way through the crowd, looking for someone that looked like a refugee. In her excitement to find the boy, she realized that she had no idea what he looked like. Dammit, I shoulda asked Mayella, she thought, letting out a heavy sigh.
     
  20. Unfortunately for Asima, the boy was nowhere to be found within the Wormwood Tavern. Thus began her search of the city. She checked several of the taverns nearby. None of them held the boy she sought. The sun hung low in the sky until the young refugee decided it was time to check further away from the inn – she traveled back into the less friendly side of town and passed by Wesley's house on the way. It took her a bit, but she made it to the other side of the outer ring of the city. She entered the first pub which came into sight: The Drunken Apple Tavern.

    Inside, the bar boomed with a ferocious energy despite the night being incredibly young. As with the night she arrived, Asima finds the bar packed wall to wall; clamorous and music playing loudly with swift tempo and harsh beat. If anyone lived nearby they surely were not asleep. Several barmaids, all dressed skimpier than those in the Wormwood tavern, rush drinks to patrons – the refugee spies some grinding against large, burly men. Of all the customers in the bar, however, there is one who sticks out. A young man with bleach blond hair and a small pair of spectacles currently caught in the middle of four especially brutish men.

    Asima notices the supposed ring leader as the thug she faced just the other night – the one she decked unconscious. He currently has the young man held by the collar and it seems unlikely for him to be let go easily.

    Special Request: The Refugee Boy
