ARKNET Reborn: Pitchdark ~ Enter the Jungle

Discussion in 'Freeform Roleplays' started by Nebulon Ranger, Apr 30, 2012.

  1. RE: Pitchdark ~ Enter the Jungle

X found himself a decent place to sleep, but, not being able to get comfortable, he burned a few leaves with his voice, trying to calm himself. He finally fell asleep after an hour of this.

  2. RE: Pitchdark ~ Enter the Jungle

T.E.N. Immediately turned to the direction of X, almost enraged at X's constant ingnorance to their situation. "I'm sorry, but I've gotten to the point... " T.E.N. said as he charged up his cannon, pointing it at X's head. "I have but two reasons to refrain; one: The additional noise could attract more of our enemies. Two: Killing you would prove to be a waste of my energy, but I wait for judgement." He looked at Judas, his naos lighting up the entire clearing in a deep blood red. "Or I might just let Judas crush your windpipe, being a werewolf-vampire hybrid it would be quite easy for him to crush your windpipe with his more-than-capable jaws." he chuckled, "At least you'd finally be shut up... " you can detect a slight maliciousness in his voice... making it clear that he used to be quite the malefactor. "Decision. Now. " he said softly, keeping his eyes on X.

Drudo had already gone to bed, and was sound asleep. Through something different could be said for the other party members, if anything was to be said about his loud snoring habits...

  3. RE: Pitchdark ~ Enter the Jungle

Rose has always been a light sleeper, and over the small chatter of TEN and the others, as well as the snoring coming from Drudo, she was having quite a hard time sleeping.

Erkin was not really tired, he never really did get much sleep when he was alive, but even now that he has been reborn, he has retained the habits. Erkin figured that if he probably would not be able to get much sleep, he had minas well stay up to keep lookout with the Anubis-shaped robot, and Jude. He knew he had great stealth skills, as well as fighting skills if it came to battle with what ever creatures may lay here on this planet, but ofcourse if they died of starvation first, then they would not even get to meet their first battle. Erkin walked up and stood about a meter to the side of Jude to then help keep lookout.

"I figured you and the Robot over there could use a bit of company, I was never one to get much sleep..." He said to Jude.

TEN, I would need more than just X to fully be rid of my hunger for the time being... Jude relayed this in a telepathic message to TEN. He seemed to have been eying Dark as well for the past day, but it seemed nobody had really noticed. He then turned to Erkin in almost a blink of an eye and said, "A watch party is never complete. However, TEN holds the final decision." He said, continuing to ask of TEN his opinion without even turning to look at him. TEN, keep Erkin distracted. I do feel my hunger rising. Jude then began to think to himself over various things, not the least of which being how exactly he would bite X as to not wake him up. He didn't want to cause more unnecessary noise, even if it were to come from the vocal chords of another. Hmm... If I attempt to hold him there, in place, he may feel something is not right and awaken. Difficult situation, indeed. He need not have given any thought to Dark, on the other hand, as if the current situation regarding his sleeping habits were to be of any indication, he slept like a rock until someone yelled in his ear to wake him up. He must remember to be quiet as to not ruin the distraction and wake X up, however.

  5. RE: Pitchdark ~ Enter the Jungle

T.E.N. Gave a mental nod to Jude, and turned his attention to Erkin. "I beleive it is a welcome change for someone else to lend aid in the protection of our rather small group... However I do not and will not approve of anytthing that causes any more unnecessary disruptions or loud noises." T.E.N. Made his best attempt at being brief, though sadly his voice recordings could only go at a set pace, so he would have to put things in simplest terms, at least until he was sure nothing was about to rip him apart... if that day ever came.

T.E.N. Got to the matter at hand and thought of something quick to distract Erkin. His eyes flashed for a moment as he processed an Idea. "Erkin." He held out a cold metal hand."My name is: T-E-N. Serial: 1437765231978609. It comes to my attention that out eastern flank hasn't been fully scouted. I would do it myself, but unfortunately I can get around as fast as you can." He gestured to the eastern flank, opposite the lean-to. "Why don't you do a once-over, make sure its secure. Please do take your time, and if you see anything organic, please do hesitate to interact until you are fully aware of what it is."

T.E.N. Waved Erkin off, and went back to examining their surroundings, and watching Judas out of the corner of his eyes, and if need be, handle anything that made too much noise... Naturally.

  6. RE: Pitchdark ~ Enter the Jungle

"Well, dont worry. Believe it or not, in my past life, before I became what I am today I used to be quite the quiet little person... If you know what I mean. I promise you that I will not do anything to bring our small group here into any more danger." Erkin thought to himself for a moment This robot is being awfully brief, although it may just be his personality, still... I had better be a bit careful After TEN asked him to scout out the eastern area Erkin says "Well, I would be happy to do anything to help the group out as much as possible, and I will be sure to hesitiate from interacting with anything unless I am 100% sure of what it is, and even then I may get some secondary approval from you, or perhaps Rose." Erkin then slowly crept off into the eastern area away from the small clearing, and prepared to scout the area out a little bit.

Hopefully I was simply being paranoid about that robot, although he seems to have his mind set on the best intentions of the group... Still, I should be extremely careful, and cautious of my surroundings... Erking thought to himself as he went to scout out the area.

  7. RE: Pitchdark ~ Enter the Jungle

Thank you, TEN. Now, to the matter at hand... Jude said in a telepathic message to the Prometheus while moving in the direction of the sleeping X. With every step he took, bit by bit, his lust for blood began to overtake all other thoughts going through his complex mind, until finally, while almost kneeling over the Ithzon, he could think of nothing else. It all happened in what seemed to be an instant following that -- a flash of deep red, the sudden extension of claws and finally, the sinking of razor-sharp fangs into the neck of an ally. From the perspective of the vampire, it -- the bite -- was almost surreal -- a slice of heaven handed down to... whatever planet they were on. A few moments later, Jude withdrew from his terrible grip on X's neck and almost dashed over to Dark. With eyes still red and claws still extended, he sunk his fangs into yet another neck. As Jude drew blood from Dark, he felt a strange sensation, almost as if something had been released from some sort of hole in each of his fangs. This was the very thing that had turned him into a vampire, and now the fast-asleep Dark was getting the full dose of it. He would not remain a mortal for very long after this point.

After drawing the last needed ounces of blood from Dark, Jude once again released his grip, his claws retracting and eyes fading back to the deep, vivid blue they were before he let his hunger overtake his conscious thoughts. Returning to TEN, he simply muttered, "X will most likely not have the energy to speak come morning." He then returned to his duties, an almost evil smirk tearing across his face as he did so. X will not have the energy to resist at a later time as well... He thought to himself, giving a mental cackle as he did so. Oh, no he will not....

  8. RE: Pitchdark ~ Enter the Jungle

T.E.N. placed a hand on Jude's shoulder. "While I do respect the fact that you must feed, I advise you to not use everyone in the group, as I'm sure you realise that gives you less and less people to use as... 'Cattle.'"

I will have to speak with Rose in the morning as I may have an Idea to help sate your appetite, In the meantime I am sure you know of the consequences of your actions? Now we have 2 members that will be too weak to help in any physical situation, let alone healthy enough to survive any of the unknown diseases and parisites that are more than likely present on this planet, so I do hope you know what your doing... He projected the thought to Jude, thankful to be able to place some trust something other than his weaponry for once.

  9. As Erkin began to scout the eastern portion of the clearing, he noticed not much that was particularly out of the ordinary or att all suspicious in most manners of speaking. Around this area were the remains of the felled tree used to make the structure the others were currently fast asleep under -- dense tropical wood that at one point served to bolster support for the massive palm-like leaves that the tree once bore in its wide canopy. There were other trees like it that helped to form the border of the clearing, along with some odd shrubs and a few scattered clusters of flowering plants both inside the clearing and forming the border with the trees and shrubs. Nothing too extraordinary for this planet. However, as Jude bit X and Dark, a faint red glow seemed to emanate from behind him, however it faded as quickly as it cropped up, and if Erkin were to turn around, he would notice that Jude had seemingly not moved from his initial position near TEN.

Meanwhile, Jude gave a mental sigh as he responded to TEN, I see. Even though I had no intention of biting any of our other compatriots, I see your point and agree that something must be done to prevent any... incidents. We shall speak with Rose after dawn breaks.

  10. Erkin, after having done quite a bit of scouting through that little area noticed that there was not much out of the ordinary. Nothing really looked suspicious, or atleast wouldnt to him, but might to someone else, as there was a felled tree there. As he looked around, Erkin almost thought he could faintly see his shadow ahead of him, which he thought was odd since it was Dark out, but he continued to look around anyways.

After finishing up his little expedition around the clearing, he slowly walked back up to T.E.N., and said "Everything around here seems to be clear T.E.N. Not much seems out of the ordinary, unless of course you counted the tree we fell earlier. I can say though that there were a few flowering plants, which could proove useful if we could figure out if they are poisonous, but other then that, I dont really have anything else to report."

Erkin then waited for a reply, which he assumed may be for him to go back to the area and keep a watch on it for the night, however he was not T.E.N, so he did not exactly know what he would tell him.

  11. Jude, upon hearing Erkin return to the group and later, his reports on the current situation, replied, "Ah. Excellent news, Erkin. I shall bring the subject of the flowering plants up with Rose and TEN in the morning. However, for now, we should best keep ourselves alert and responsive to any dangers that may show themselves later on, though given your swimming report, there is likely no such danger. Not tonight, at the very least."

    ~ The Next Morning ~

In the shelter, one could see the forms of Jack, Dark, Rose, Drudo and X fast asleep -- though Dark had been hanging from a crossbar the whole night. The group had indeed survived the first night -- Erkin's report was correct. No danger.

The clearing had shown no evidence of intrusion that morning, as everyone had still been asleep despite the sun being in full force. It was very quiet at the time they had all been sleeping like rocks, but that silence, as well as everyone's sleep, had been broken by the loud crash of yet another pod hitting the ground beside the others. Jack, being the first awake, bolted out of bed and went to investigate. "What the..?" He asked, half rhetorically and half out of shock at the arrival of another pod, possibly containing another team member who may have not made it on time. Jude walked casually over to him, posing the obvious question, "What seems to be the matter, Jack?" Jack simply gestured towards the dust-shrouded pod as if to say 'you figure it out.' Taking the hint, Jude further approached the new arrival, posing yet another question, "Hello? Is there a living being in this shuttle pod?"

  12. A shudder, followed by an overwhelming boom caused Nathan's mind to reel. This form of transportation he definitely did not have grasp of. It seemed like an eternity before his vision came back, his hearing returning after he had blacked out. What just happened? Looking about the innards of the pod he was in, observing the technology of which he could only attempt to understand, he groaned out. Definitely a strange form of travel. His hand slowly made its way toward the ejection lever, causing a shudder from the pod before a large portion of it sheathed away, revealing the world to him from his confined metal cocoon. He coughed as a massive amount of dust and smoke overwhelmed his surroundings, making him brush the air in front of him before he attempted to pull himself up. Taking a step out, he was glad to feel solid earth beneath his shoes, causing him to take more steps forward. He stretched, attempting to rid the rigidness that had locked his body from the immense sensation of falling at high speed as he looked about.

Dust still obscured his vision, but by squinting, he could make out figures in the distance. Had he made it? He sighed, reaching under his leather jacket and scratching an itchy spot on his side, before suddenly his instincts alerted a form advancing toward him. Reflexively his hand reached behind his back, only to make him tense when he felt nothing there. His blade as still in the pod. Swiftly he reached back into the pod, grabbing his blade and turning, only to meet a humanoid figure.

His muscles released only slightly as he figured that this was not the enemy briefed. "I.. Yes..." he responded, composing himself as the dust cleared. The morning sun caused his reddish-brown hair to give an almost firy look, a breeze aiding the look to act as fire. His amber gaze looked over the lycan before him before slinging his weapon over his head and shoulder, firming it against him. "The name's Nathan."

  13. A sudden crash awoke Rose from her sleep, not that she had had much in the first place. She rubbed her eyes a little bit, and put on her glasses, which she pulled out of her shirt pocket. Upon putting on the spectacles, she saw exactly what had happened. It was another one of those metal pods that she and her team members had arrived in. She figured perhaps it was someone who had left late, or perhaps the pod had gotten a little off of course, but no matter, because it was here now. Rose stood up, just as the door to the pod opened. Out stepped a Male human. Quite a rarity considering that she had been the only human here so far. Rose slowly walked towards the pod, and heard the man who had walked out of it saying "The name's Nathan."

Rose figured that this was not an enemy, as he arrived in one of the pods which we had arrived in, as well that it was said that our enemy was alien. She walked a little closer, and introduced herself to him. "Hello Nathan, my name is Rose, Rose Montoya. You know, it seems to be quite a rarity for a human to show up here, considering that the rest of us seems to be either Lycan, or some other humanoid form, which is not human. Its good to have another member on the team, and I welcome you aboard." Rose said, while she adjusted her vision a little bit more.

Erkin as well heard the Crash, I mean, who wouldnt? In fact, he was awake to witness it as well. He did not get a wink of sleep last night, and for some reason he really did not seem to mind. He looked over at the seen, a bit of dust and smoke still rising from the crash scene. He hoped that the pod would not simply burst into flames, because if there was an ally inside, that would likely mean the end of him. Just as he was finishing that thought however, the pod started to open. A bit more dust and smoke flying out of it. Once opening, a man emerged from the inside. The one thing that suprised him though is that he wasnt Angel, Lycan, nor Prometheus. He was actually human. Erkin decided that he had best not go over there and crowd the area up more, with Rose over there as well as a couple of other people, our new visitor would feel over whelemed. Erkin would make an effort however to learn his name. Erkin decides to wait a little bit until he is out of the small crowd.

  14. Following the crash Drudo instinctively grabbed his rifle and pointed it towards the sound. He held it here for a moment, quickly lowering it as he saw a latecomer through the parting smoke. He placed his rifle on his back and stood up, atempting to gain some composure after being awoken so suddenly. He looked at the rest of the group. They all seemed so eager to meet him, However Drudo was just as well to get a drink -- and maybe some food into his system before using too much energy on patting this newcomers back.

T.E.N. shifted in place as the pod made slight quake in the ground from impact. As aways he stood staight and rigin, seemingly apathetic towards having another member of the group. He crossed his arms. it was obvious he had mixed feelings about everything, he knew already that it was a struggle to survive, now with the added person needing rations and other necessities, it was quitepossible that if this persn couldn't commit, it would put everyone else at risk.

  15. "Urgh... What was that?" Dark said, obviously not altogether there or even awake yet. The sudden crash-landing of Nathan's pod had shaken him from his perch on the one of the shelter's crossbraces. He got up slowly, and as he did, he noticed the new arrival. "Who is this? A new arrival? He asked inquisitively. "Yes. His name is Nathan." Jude replied, "Welcome to the group, Nathan. If you have any questions, feel free to ask Jack, Rose, TEN or myself." As Jude listed names, he motioned to each one, excluding himself, in turn. "Ah yes, I do believe I have forgotten to introduce myself. I am Judas Numidius -- Jude, if you will." Jude said politely, "The one behind me is Jack Evans. If you would like, you may formally introduce yourself to us."

Meanwhile, back over by the shelter, Dark was stretching his joints when he noticed something funny about his neck. "Huh..?" He said, surprised. There were two holes in it. He had been bitten. One of them was a vampire, and now he was as well.

  16. Nathan looked about the group as they had all seemed to congregate to greet him. Must be a lonely group. He listened to all that came to greet him, nodding and smiling to each. "Well uhm... thank you," he replied, looking at the furry in front of him. "My full name is Nathaniel. I came from Earth, and well, wanted to help out..." Nathan looked about the group as he gave a weak smile. "Well, I hope I can help any. I'll try not to eat too much food." With that he chuckled, quickly cutting it off as he thought it may not be best to give away his weakness to his appetite when they might just very well be running on rations on this foreign planet.

He felt his blade close against his back, soothing him slightly as he asked the next question. "So... where do I begin?"

  17. Lonely indeed. Jude projected to Nathan, Quite a few here have lost everything in one way or another. Jack never had anything to begin with. Proceeding to look back to Nathan, Jude replied, "Do not concern yourself with food -- even if we are in unknown territory, there is bound to be something edible for us." He sighed, "At least, I assume there would be. We have not had much time to investigate the surrounding area." Jude then proceeded to give Nathan a sort of welcoming handshake before finally saying, "At any rate, welcome to our band of... shall I say, misfits? We certainly need as much assistance as possible on our mission." He paused for a moment, thinking. Even if it is almost certainly one we will not see the end of...

Back near the makeshift shelter, Dark was having a hard time coming to grips with what had happened to him the previous night. Who was the vampire, and, most importantly, why choose him of all people to feed on? In a combination of fear and a brain wave, he called Rose over. "Rose! Rose!" He half-whispered, half-shouted, "Rose! I have to talk to you! Get over here!" He didn't know who the vampire was, so in calling Rose over, he assmed that she might have an idea. It was a long shot, but in his mind, if she knew, it was worth it. He felt his neck agan to make sure he wasn't still asleep and dreaming all of this. Two holes. He then pinched himself to see for certain if he was awake, which was followed by a whimper in his voice. Awake. This was not a dream.

Jack looked toward Jude. "Are you sure about this? I mean, we don't exactly know him." He said, concerned for the group's well-being. I am certain. Nathan seems to be similar to the rest of us, predicament-wise. What could we stand to lose by accepting him as part of our group? Jude responded telepathically. "... Nothing, I suppose. At least, I've got nothing to lose." Jack replied, "Okay, I trust you. Welcome aboard, Nathan."

  18. Rose, not long after having introduced herself to Nathan, heard Dark calling her over. She still was not too comfortable around the lycan/bat people, still though she was quite curious about them, as back on the home planet, she had never really seen anything quite like it. She went quickly over to Dark however, because she could tell what he had to tell her was quite urgent.

"Hello... Dark, right?" Rose said, keeping just a little bit of distance from him, still not being quite that comfortable talking to a Lycan. "What do you need? I was just about to go out and investigate the area a bit more, after introducing myself to Nathan, but you seem Urgent with your tone of voice, is something wrong?"

  19. "Thanks for coming over so quickly -- I need to talk to you about something." He replied, sighing, "Not sure if you'll believe this, but I think I was bitten by a vampire last night. Since we haven't left yet, it had to have been one of the group. Problem is I don't know exactly who it is." He looked around, his posture revealing a combination of fear and egdiness. It was evident he was looking around for who could have done it. "I'm unsure about how this'll be received, but vampires do exist. They're rare, but they're around. I've encountered them before. Never been bitten until now." He continued, "Problem is, once they bite you, it's almost impossible to avoid becoming one yourself." He looked around again, this time with worry added to the mix. Another sigh. "I-if..." He started once more, "If I become a vampire, I need to not draw too much attention to it. I don't have any idea if that'll be easy though." He sighed a third time, realising he had been rambling on out of fear. "I'm rambling. I definitely need your opinion on this and most likely your help finding out who it is." He said, waiting for Rose to respond. His reaction was understandable -- fear of the unknown was something that hadn't reached obsolescence even six thousand years in the future as it were.

  20. Rose pondered the thought for a minute, it was easy to understand why he would be afraid, waking up with two pinpricks in your neck, for the fear of becoming a vampire, but she had trouble believing they even existed. She used to think Lycans did not exist as well, until she met this group here. Lots of thoughts swirl around in her head, but she decides to help out Dark, after all if there is truly a vampire on the loose, then they need to figure out who it is, and fast.

"Its easy to understand why you are afraid of this Dark, waking up with two pinpricks in your neck, it would certainly be frightening, for the fear of becoming a vampire. If there really are vampires, which the evidence at the moment suggests there could be, then I will simply have to believe you, and help you through this." Rose inspected the two marks on Dark's neck a little more, and noticed that these marks were not simply made by just shoving something sharp in there two times, as the marks were exactly the same size, and also the distance apart at which you would find the teeth as well. She definitely knew that these were for sure teeth marks.

"As for the problem of not being noticed, I believe that if you do become a vampire, a way to get you blood without turning anyone else into one would be quite possible. Really, all we would need is to make a make shift container in which we could put some animal blood into, or even some of our own if one of us were to feel generous enough. As for the problem with who might be the vampire, if you would allow me to measure the distance apart for the tooth marks in your neck, it would be quite easy to figure out who it is, as long as every one here has a normal sized jaw for their species."

Almost certain that her plan would work, she waited for a response from Dark, and gave him a minute to ponder the information she had told him.
