My Anime Academia (aka the Anime Thread)

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous Conjectures' started by The Kakuzato, Dec 2, 2013.

  1. RE: The General Anime Thread (RIP KLK Edition)

    Sadly.

I wonder which anime is going to be the next. There is one called Terror of Tokyo or Terror of Resonance, something like that. It feels a bit like Mirai Nikki. Could that be it?

  2. RE: The General Anime Thread (RIP KLK Edition)

Not like you could really stop us from talking about Kill la Kill anyway, Pooka. This is the anime thread, after all. Even if it is over, we can still look back to watch the episodes and discuss them like any anime that has come to an end. Not to mention Kill la Kill's eventually getting an OVA, so...

It's kinda strange how a couple of animes are coming to an end this week. First Kill la Kill, and now apparently Space Dandy (well specifically, season finale) and Zvezda from what I've heard. Never really watched the latter, but the concept sounds interesting. Either way, it's weird how all three of these are coming to somewhat of an end all on the same week.

  3. RE: The General Anime Thread (RIP KLK Edition)

Zvezda is totally your anime, Blendy. But anyway....

    RIP IN ASHES, BROKETSU. ;________________;7

  4. RE: The General Anime Thread (RIP KLK Edition)

I'd rather KLK be rarely discussed. I'm not sure what in its formula made it successful. All what I know if is that it rips off the older anime using the worst elements of anime, such as transformation scenes.

But yet nobody moved on and mentioned the anime I mentioned above, something in the words of Tokyo Terror or Terror of Resonance?

  5. RE: The General Anime Thread (RIP KLK Edition)

Nobody moved on because you're being kinda... uh... forceful.

And you know actually I was told that KlK wouldn't be "my type" of anime, but what exactly is it even about, anyway?

  6. RE: The General Anime Thread (RIP KLK Edition)

I'm guessing its about naked girls wearing transforming suits that get to be more powerful when it exposes more skin. You probably watched a lot of that genre (without the nakedness) in the old timeys anyways. And that transforming genre is so bad. But KLK is worse even on its own.

  7. RE: The General Anime Thread (RIP KLK Edition)

Not easy to explain without spoiling stuff, but basically...

Our protagonist, Ryuko Matoi, transfers to the fictional school of Honnouji Academy, run by Satsuki Kiryuin and the student council's Elite 4. It is here that special uniforms gives people that wear them superhuman abilities that they use to keep everyone else in check. Anyway, Ryuko goes there in order to figure out who killed her father. The only clue she has to go on is that this person wields half of what is basically a blade shaped like a giant pair of scissors. Of course, as you'd expect, she'd have to fight people to get her answer. So her only weapons against these people are the other half of the "scissors blade" and a sentient sailorm uniform named Senketsu, who essentially gives Ryuko the ability to transform into this:

While there, she meets a bizarre girl named Mako Mankanshoku, who basically gives the weirdest speeches ever. She also meets another guy who's basically there to explain shit in the weirdest way possible...

And that's pretty much the Gigasummary. I'm pretty sure Shadow could do a better job.

  8. RE: The General Anime Thread (RIP KLK Edition)

This summary is enough to make me turn my head to another direction and continue my day. The fact that its successful in the first place amazes me, and I seriously can't get what are the recipes of success in it.

The only recipe is simply winning the lottery for otaku praise.

  9. RE: The General Anime Thread (RIP KLK Edition)

Okay, Pooka. We understand that you don't like Kill la Kill. I myself am not interested in it, but you are not going to be able to change the tastes of others, nor are you going to be able to impact what they want to discuss.

Is it unfortunate that you're going to have to watch them talk about Kill la Kill? Yes, I've sat through many discussions of it in IRC. Not the first thing I want to discuss. But it's not something you're going to be able to change.

As another member of the forum, I'd like to ask you to please leave the anime alone. The constant bashing and turning your nose up at it whenever someone posts about it is unfair to the rest of the people who DO want to discuss it.

You are welcome to post about other anime, but the mindless bashing of Kill la Kill when you haven't even given it a fair chance is no longer a meaningful contribution to the discussion.

EDIT: As for the rest of you, I'd like to encourage responding to Pooka in discussion of other anime, instead of circlejerking the same couple (i.e. Zvezda, KlK). It'd be nice to see some more discussion go on as opposed to the same topic with minimal discussion. He's right; this IS the general anime thread.

  10. RE: The General Anime Thread (RIP KLK Edition)

Sorry. Could we talk about something else?

  11. RE: The General Anime Thread (RIP KLK Edition)

I still need to got back to Wolf's Rain.

  12. RE: The General Anime Thread (RIP KLK Edition)

I mean I'd talk about more animé I like but whenever KlK or Zvezda is mentioned, I just kind of blank out.

I'm going back over Hetalia, and heavenly hell, I can see once more why I loved this stupid idiotic animé.

    GIIIILLLLLBIIIIIIIIIRRRRDDD

oh my god the memories just came flooding back hnnng

  14. RE: The General Anime Thread (RIP KLK Edition)

I've tried both reading and watching Hetalia... And I just... Can't do it. I can't really keep track of who's who, and for the anime, the voice acting just hurts my ears.

  15. RE: The General Anime Thread (RIP KLK Edition)

I have eight more episodes of Wolf's Rain to watch, and then I'll start on Madoka.

Too bad nobody else watches WR, the show's starting to get into feels now.
