  1. I'm just gonna post a few links here.

A particularly... interesting comment chain (I think Latra M blocked me):

    I hate people sometimes.

  2. Slightly disappointed that we didn't do anything for April Fool's this year.

  3. This is me. I planned on posting something here for the heck of it, but couldn't find the inspiration. Accidentally making grandma jump by appearing from behind her to set her water on the table pseudo-makes up for it in a sense, though.

  4. Banking on that jalapeno-chocolate shake today BOY. Let's go get some of that. :5

Also, probably going to one of the local theaters to watch Only Yesterday today, so I'm looking forward to that a lot.

  5. Watching Only Yesterday on cable when I was ten was the best decision I made in my cinema going life. Sucks that it's so hard to find, and definitely go see it!

  6. @Kamantha - Just came back from the theater. It was absolutely beyond what I expected, and I expected it to be great - typical in regards to films churned out by my favorite production company. Without giving anything in regards to the actual plot away, it was masterfully developed, ceding well between a young woman and memories of her 5th grade self whilst building uncanny connections between then and now. In terms of slice of life films, it's among the best I've ever seen. I really enjoyed it.

  7. anime was a mistake

  8. The quest for the jalapeno chocolate shake continues. Sonic didn't have it anymore, but I figure I can make it on my own. The holy jalapeno chocolate shake pilgrimage is now in full effect. Next step: try making it on my own.

    Jalapeno chocolate shake.

  9. Really looking forward to potentially catching this film sometime soon, too. I saw the previews for it during Only Yesterday and thought it seemed pretty solid, with neat characters and a nice dose of humor in the steampunk genre to propel it forward in terms of individuality.

Also, if you haven't yet noticed - The Faces of Eebit may well return! If it piques your interest, click my sig to head over to the topic. We can't just let Eebit down. Not this time. ;(

  10. So tonight my brother was asking my dad a bunch of questions about car insurance.  Which led to this:

Dad: "At one point getting married brought your insurance rates down."
Me: "That's ridiculous.  Getting married at 19 definitely shows how responsible you are."
Brother: "You know people that are getting married at 19?"
    M: "Yep!"
    B: "How?"
M: "Uhm they get a marriage licence and sign it?"
B: "But I thought that was expensive?"
M: "Weddings can be expensive but marriage is just the cost of the licence. Like $50."  (Now it turns out that a marriage licence costs $149 but still point stands)
B: "I don't get it. Don't you need to apply?"
M: "You get your licence, say some things, your partner says some things and the justice of the peace says something."
D: "You can even go to Vegas and get married by Elvis."
B: "But... that seems too easy..."

Didn't have much of a come back for that.  Always good to think about how little is required for you to sign a legal contract with someone.

  11. Krista; and yet you don't need a license to have a child

    Stupid.

  12. Mom's going in for a surgery today to help correct her blurred vision; cataract removal/lens replacement. It's a fairly simplistic surgery but she's scared all over about it, anyway. Wish her luck. :)

  13. Between Weezer, The Lumineers, and Monkey Majik, these past two weeks will be henceforth known as when Jonno was most celebratory within the realm of music indeed. #blessed

    it's still a mistake

  15. M83's "Junk" came out this week and I have three promoters on my ass about it. And the sad thing about it is... it's junk. But they didn't even service the Lumineers either! We apparently got the last album but not this one! Austin had to get it for us. Remember your roots, Lumineers!

And radioland is having a bad week in general because all the promoters have basically ceded the week to M83. Uggghhh. Why can't this be like the Animal Collective week. I miss Animal Collective week.

  16. I had to sit here for a solid few minutes trying to come up with a reply to this but all I could think was "wHat the flying fcku reality is a goddamn lie"

  17. @Rose - I can't imagine what being in a station having to spin bad music perpetually, throughout the week, would be like beyond incessantly annoying. Sheesh. Ah well, it's a reality of the job, I suppose. I'm still keen on interning at the community station over here sometime; I was even offered a position as a DJ by the guy that runs the place. It's really just more of an obligation to stay at home as often as I can to help take care of grandma that's keeping me behind, other than the fact that I'm dangerously close to graduation and really need to think about full-time jobs, unfortunately. But one day, I'll try my hand at volunteering at a station once and for all.

Anyway, I think it's more of a PR thing than the Lumineers remembering their roots. They began as a totally grassroots folk band competing against so many other great up-and-comers in Denver that only realized they even made it because all copies of their album were checked out at the local library. I think that they're humble; it's unfortunately just a part of growing out into the mainstream - I know through working with Dualtone that they've been working really hard to secure them some big TV show and festival gigs and whatever. Maybe I can give them a nudge to push these out to college and community stations a bit more since it kind of roundabouts towards the idea of what folk is as a lifestyle on the all-around, but it's a big maybe.

Either way, I am really enjoying the album. These guys are definitely in my top five American bands, these days, and for a slew of reasons that I can elaborate later on but oh man this is becoming one long """Twitter""" post. :5

As an aside, caught the Lumineers concert on Audience today via a TV feed of an iHeart broadcast, and played along with most of the songs on my trusty banjolele, much to the applause of my grandma. That was cute and fun. Lastly, I love Animal Collective.
