  1. Unless your laptop is connected to the charger all the time like mine. Not what enraged me! RAWWWWR!!

  2. This.

  3. I've always personally been a fan of desktops over laptops anyway. It's basically impossible to get comfortable while using a laptop, and personally, I find that trackpads are just annoying as hell (though that's easily remedied with a USB mouse or something).

  4. I lie down with the laptop on my chest and that's the most cooomfforrtabblee position for meeee. Can't do that with desktops!

  5. I like sitting on the floor legs-crossed with a pillow on my lap and the laptop on it =D I charge the thing if it gets close to 40%, which I think is the prescribed norm for a Li battery.

  6. What!? I hate desktops! They make my booty hurt after a while! I prefer laying on my bed with my laptop next to me. If I get tired of that, then I'll just switch to my tablet.

  7. From what I see from this waiting room in the airport......

Some important guy name Yang has a lady waiting for him. Ahhh I'm growing tired of seeing sunburned idiots yelling out "YOLO! BEST ACAPULCO TRIP EVER!" /boredandannoyed

  8. I always drive by an acapulco but I never had it.

  9. On the vein of laptops from further up in this thread, I have good news. My laptop finally broke! Yeeey. (It was extremely crappy and disfunctional anyway.)

I'll be using my 3DS from now on, just as I am presently, until I get a new computer (hopefully soon). This means less distractions from the Internet (what with only being able to have one tab open and not being able to access all sites) so I'll probably actually be more efficient at posting for stuff now. Although, it also marks a stop to my chatroom time, considering IRC is too advanced [or something] for this device. So yeah.

  10. It's because of the way in-browser clients like Mibbit work; IRC can work on a DSi or 3DS for a few minutes, but as it updates a HELL of a lot faster than Chatzy, the memory runs out really quickly.

  11. We've been robbed.

Literally all the trust (what was left of it) have been stomped on and I don't feel secure nor happy at the moment. I'm sleeping with a knife under my pillow tonight.

As much as I'd like to simply curl up into a ball and try to brush off the fact that I'm not even safe in my own home anymore AND the fact that everyone here refuses to call the cops, I'm just going to take a breath. A huge, huge breath.

And to think this day started out alright. The wonders of 2013. The wonders.

  12. Holy shit, are you alright? ._.

All I can really think to say is "that's SoCal for you"... Were you actually home when it happened? What did they take?

  13. I was at costco when it happened. Thankfully not that many things were stolen but...just the thought that any stranger can waltz right in here whenever they want just....urgh, I don't know. Things have just been going inside out lately...but I'm still alright so I'm sure I'll see things get better.

  14. Well fuck. That's horrible, Starr. My aunt (Illinois) was robbed shortly before the turn of the year as well, and I'm pretty sure it's a horrible experience.

But yeah, I can see how trust issues can arise but - I hope you don't mind me asking - why isn't anyone calling the police?

  15. It's called Bystander Apathy; we learned about it in sociology. The more people there are witnessing an event, the less likely any one individual is to do anything about it.

  16. It's kind of the inverse here. The more people there are, the more likely someone will use crowd cover to call the cops. Or the crowd just revolts through selfish altruism.

But still it must have been pretty hard either way or not. How good is the Californian police?

  17. Well, they're pretty bad. Tbh, we KNOW who did it (his rat house is down the street) and hes taken shit from us before, but nobody here really wishes to call the police. Instead of that, we blame ourselves. However, we do have some rifles at hand. So if we do catch him in the act again, we're under our right to shoot them if they suddenly try to attack us while robbing us. (And I believe that if he even breaks in, its alright to kick their ass)

But it still just doesn't take away my sense of paranoia or my weird mix of fear and anger. I'll try to make my dad call, although I'm sure the robber would be bailed out in a sec. I've seen the cops at his house a lot. Each time ending in nothing, mind you.

  18. Not very.

Trust me, I grew up there.

They'll come running if there's violence, but any other situation they take half an hour to drive two blocks. :|

  19. ^ Or they come, park their nice cars, and just stand there to "scare" the perp away. Regardless of that, they do little to nothing unless there was some violence involved or you're in eminent danger.

  20. My comment was mostly referring to when we lived literally two blocks from the police station. If we filed a noise complaint- which was fairly often with about half of our neighbors- they'd take 30 to 45 minutes to show up.

On another note, my dogs chased away burglars on two separate occasions, so you may want to look into that.
