betwixt the monstrous giants that sustained the roof high into the air, Kimari sat silently among the shadows of the fog. A thin aura surrounded her like the twinkling eyes of the stars as she remained affixed with her legs crossed and her hands to her sides. Her silver eyes hid behind her calm demeanor as she wandered through the universe of her mind.

With a slight twitch, her gloved hands shifted toward her. She opened her eyes slowly.

"They're here," she spoke softly.

From the high ceiling above, Mai leaped from a crevice on the hard rock like the blur of a knife. Like the streaks of fire from a fast-moving torch her body sailed from pillar to pillar, creating a zig-zag of blue toward the hidden earth below. Mai landed with a soft thud, like hopping from a step, with the haze encompassing where her feet touched immediately dispersing in all directions.

"I know they are," Mai replied, resting her hands on the tough hilts sheathing the vicious metal they wielded.

"I suppose this is a time to prepare some team strategy, then?" Kim inquired, forcing herself to her feet and patting down her soft grey robe.

"I'll do what I can," Mai assured. "But uh... you should send your creepy eye things back."

Kimari laughed. "Ah, yes, right," she mused, although quite surprised at the same time. "I had forgotten I had left them about to look around."

Kimari twitched her finger toward her. In the near distance, two glowing violet orbs rocketed through the misty terrain like bullets, slicing the fog like a knife through water. In no time, the glowing spheres stopped just a foot from Kimari's location instantaneously, the hard glow quickly dimming to a soft aura. Beneath the bright violet were two crystal orbs with familiar etchings of eyes imprinted onto their smooth surfaces. They turned to face the opposing two pillars.

"Let's do our best."

"Speak for yourself."

"I was talking to the eyes."

"Oh.... Creepy."

A dark room. Sweat clinging to their soft, white skin. They moved in sync, yet in entrophic discord. Pleasure and temptation. The two were harmonious and yet completely polar. And then, softer than an angel's feather, a sound of finality rose from between them. Pain and pleasure teetered between both of their blown minds as they began to come back down. They knew they shouldn't, but they simply couldn't resist that call.

It then began when she looked up. The setting around her began to fade from reality and simply melt into sticky blackness. Looking around with frightened eyes, she shook her soulmate, who seemed to not be focused on the situation at hand. She was very frightened and she wanted to know what the hell was going on. However, he didn't seem to look very willing to assist her, and it seemed that part of him was still stuck in the clouds. Not sure exactly how to proceed, she looked at him and began to beseech with all she had. Not that it would do any good, anyway, but she might as well try...

"Dharc? Dharc, darling, what's going on? I'm scared..."

Dharc looked towards his beloved as if snapped from a trance. He didn't like the fact that he couldn't stay where he had been and he turned his head to snap at whomever had roused him from his dreams.

"What are you talking about, Thage? Are you trying to..."

To his horrid realization, what Thage noticed was true: the scenery around them was melting, melting. He ran in front of his slut betrothed, readying his scythe.

Soon, as the scenery had melted away, it seemed to melt into place.

A dim atmosphere.

Four columns.

Two sinister opponents.

What the fuck.

"Thage, stay behind me. I don't want you to get hurt."

"O-okay..."

Mai gripped her hilts tightly, crouching low in a preparatory stance. The fog around her began to stir like an accelerating current, encircling her like a small twister. Mai's figure took on an azure glow, quickly generating brightness until she was practically on fire.

Like a blur of blue, Mai disappeared from her spot. Without another second going by, a massive wall of cyan flames rocketed into the sky, streaking from pillar to pillar like a curtain. Mai reappeared just a spot away, the fog dispersing from the field from the sheer power of her stop. Gripping her hilts still, she finally removed her blades from their sheathes, flashing the metal all about her in an elegant dance of prowess. She stopped her swords dance, with one arm raised behind her and the other outstretched toward the enemy.

"Come get it."

Kimari raised a brow in astonishment. Despite her omnipresent mind, she could barely keep track of the clear-headed Dragon Apprentice. At least she's with me, Kimari thought.

Glancing over the bright flames, Kimari noticed the two figures; one a seemingly fragile girl holding a tome of some sort and a boy with a wicked blade. Both of them seemed intimidated, or at least alarmed. I'll make this quick, then.

Raising her gloved hands in the air, her violet aura surged ever so slightly as she focused her essence to the boy.

On the other side of the stretch, a violet aura appeared around the boy's head. Up above, two crystal eyes beamed down at him like ever-watching vultures. They, too, glowed a bright violet as they hovered just out of reach.

"Let us begin, then," Kimari spoke confidently, opening her glistening silver eyes.

Kimari narrowed her eyes and watched as the boy with the scythe approach Mai. Astoundingly, in a flurry of colors, both Mai and this opponent's scythe disappeared. In the next moment, Mai landed on the ground with a thud. From what Kimari could tell, Mai was bleeding.

I'll have to impede on this, Kimari thought, stretching her intangible telepathic hands into the boy's psyche.

"You're not going to survive this," Kimari spoke, both in voice and in mind. She already targeted the boy's nervous system and prefrontal cortex. "Because you're under my control now."

Mai watched warily as both her opponents suddenly become airborne, swimming through her curtain of flames utterly untouched. Furrowing her brow, Mai gripped her blades with surety. They're not going to get out so easily.

The boy with the wicked scythe flew straight toward her, landing just a few feet away. With a heave, Mai watched and prepared the inevitable. With a powerful burst of immense speed, Mai blurred from the visual perception of the opponent. He couldn't possibly-

With a wince in her mid-flight, Mai looked down to see the boy's scythe just on her heels. It had already sliced a part of her leg. The next moment, the blade swung and batted her straight in the head, striking a clean mark just below her right eye. With quick accuracy, Mai deftly avoided a blurred strike to her a third time, forcing herself from her immense acceleration to get a moment of distance.

slamming on the ground from a loss of balance, Mai sharply yelped before pulling herself to a sitting position. She gripped the profusely-bleeding area beneath her eye, watching splotches encroach her vision like a closing door. Backflipping to her feet, she quickly ripped a cloth from her sash and tied it around her eye. Closing her right eye, most of the splotched disappeared. However, she knew she was debilitated.

"You hit me this time," she growled, "but you're not getting another lucky hit."

Gripping her weapons in both hands, she summoned a powerful cyan blade around her blades, charging her opponent with immense force. Upon making the strike up front, Mai blurred and reappeared behind the boy, landing two quick strikes as best she could before blurring again. In the next moment, Mai flew from the sky, a massive flame trailing behind her. With a yell, Mai swung her blade, and the large blaze, onto her opponent.

Mai recovers from her assault, cursing herself. She had missed most of her strikes. As she watched, she saw the girl fly off and, at the same time, cast a strange barrier-like aura around the boy in front of her. Looking from the girl to the boy, she began to quickly reconsider her choices.

"Be careful," Kimari called telepathically to Mai. "That barrier redirects damage back to you. Strike this girl down instead."

Mai laughed softly. "No, I think I can do this."

"What?" Kimari exclaimed. "You can't be serious."

"Back me up," Mai responded, sending a flame through her blades. Maybe she couldn't aim well now, but she could try something.

Mai blinked with suprirse. She was no longer anywhere near the person she had previously been ready to assault. Glancing quickly about, she noticed her view blocked by a pillar. Gazing around, she couldn't see anything familiar. However, she did catch the glow of her flames against the pillars. Quickly panicking as her power disappeared, she prepped herself for a run. She had to hurry.

Kimari, seeing Mai blip out of existence, suddenly froze in place. The boy and the girl both had her cornered. Seeing the boy approach her slowly, she quickly strengthened the bond between them. "Cease!" Kimari exclaimed while attempting to escape.
