  1. Kimari, suddenly feeling the effects of her own doing, quickly stumbled around the pillar in a panic. She had to get away somehow. Looking from one to the other, Kimari desperately attempted her flee. Where are you, Mai? I need some help! Kimari telepathically called out, looking across the hazy clearing. She could see the towering pillars and the flaming wall, but couldn't see much else.

    I'm coming, Mai responded. I just need to gather a bit more of my energy.

    Mai burst down the massive clearing, trying to conserve her energy to better her performance. She needed to collect what she could now.

  5. Kimari watched hesitantly while her opponents backed away, hiding around the pillar enigmatically. Had she missed something?...

    "Kimari!" Mai called, rocketing toward the psychic girl. In her wake, a vicious blaze ensued. Stopping just at the foot of where Kimari was, she panted slightly.

    "M-Mai!" Kimari exclaimed. "You finally got here."

    "Don't patronize me, psychic," Mai retorted, holding up a finger to have a moment. After a few breaths, she shook herself off. "I really need to get back into my endurance training."

    "Good for you," Kimari nodded, grabbing her head. "I'm dealing with some.. surprising reciprocation."

  9. Kimari's mind began to blur as an essence seeped into her thoughts. Grabbing her head, she felt an even worse throbbing. "Agh... Mai..." Kimari started. She began to back away slowly, keeping her head low as an overwhelming throb forced her into submission. Never before had she felt so silenced.

    Mai, looking at Kimari with a furrowed brow, gripped her blades tightly. We can't lose this, she assured herself. Looking over at Kimari, then the girl, then at the pillar where that boy inevitably was, she steeled herself and crouched into a preparatory stance.

    "Just stay away from danger, psychic," Mai responded, "I'm going to end this for both of us."

  13. Kimari stumbled her way around the pillar, her mind blanking out with an uncontrollable rage. What was getting into her? How did she end up around this pillar? The only thing that oriented her was the fierce approach of her enemy to which her mind was bonded to. Feeling her way around the pillar, she kept her pace quick and steady. I can't go out this fast- not like this!

    Mai could see her opponents surround where she knew Kimari was. "Kimari..." Mai whispered with a bitter bile rising in her throat. This was the moment of truth- could she save her friend?

  17. Mai paces slowly to the center of the arena. She felt the ebbing throbs of her telepathic friend fade. The floating eyes, which she could see from this distance, suddenly blipped as their hard carcasses fell to the ground. Behind that pillar, she could already envision the girl she had just met lying in a pool of her own blood.

    Gripping her blades tightly, Mai's form began to shake solemnly. "Kimari..." Mai whispered. She had failed. She had failed her friend; she had failed her master. She had failed herself. What once were the pillars that seemed protective of this ground now seemed tainted with the mockery of her mistake. They looked down on her with their towering glower, mocking her for a dare at trying. Dishonored was the only word that could describe the bitterness within her.

    Looking up toward the two opponents who now had no one left to assault, she spun her blades slowly, trying to build her strength back. The fog around her flew around her, separating and twisting in different directions from the whims of Mai's movements. She didn't have a thing left to lose now.
