Zio's Monster Hunter Plug

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous Conjectures' started by Ziolang, Nov 7, 2011.

  1. Some of you knew this was gonna come eventually.

For all of you who have played any of the Monster Hunter games, you know the basic gist of the game, and this is that +infinity. For those who haven't, this WILL catch your eye.

Well, without further ado, I present to you something so awesome I cried a bit.

  2. Will you be picking up Generations when it comes stateside?

The series has always intrigued me, but when I tried Monster Hunter Tri on Wii, it all but confirmed that it was too much of a grindfest for me to really get into. Now that the years have passed though, I'm thinking about giving it another shot. The atmosphere is consistently great and the big battles are certainly big. The series as a whole is impressive and it has shown in its sales; I'm really starting to believe I'm missing out on bucking a worthy trend, here - especially with those Fire Emblem armor sets on the way.

  3. Yes I most certainly am. Monster Hunter tri was easily the worst installment in the series. It had a tendency to scare off new players and aggravate old ones. But MH4U revamped the system in many positive ways, and Generations is supposed to be a kond of climax MH has been building up to. So yeah, I'd recommend it. It even seems to be less grindy, as rare parts drop more frequently and subquests were brought back for some extra rewards. And the landscapes are a blast to fight in, as you now have to work with or against elevations, ledges, vines and so forth.

  4. the hype train is full steam ahead

  5. Ah, well then! That confirms it. I'll be having to keep a much closer eye on Generations, now. I'll probably spend the better half of the afternoon ceding away into a stream of gameplay videos - good stuff ahead.

  6. I am so hyped for this, the Lagiacrus is back! And Generations won't have underwater fighting so the Laggy's gonna be amazing, I always loved fighting that thing on the ground.

And the Chameleos too! Just look at this sweet hat the Chameleos gives you:

    it's so good

  7. I feel like the odd one out because I actually thought underwater fighting was cool. Caedeus was one of my favorite fights, as easy as it is.

Tho I agree, it's hella rad that Lagi is making a return. Missed that shithead and the other leviathans in MH4U.

  8. Given, I only have MH3 to even judge the entire series upon. On one hand, I loved the in-depth nature of the game as it reminded me a lot of the perpetual depth of past RPGs while also having a very modern vibe with exploring its maps and meeting (and battling) the vast variety of creatures on display. I can't remember a game that was such a love-hate relationship for me, though, in recent times, because as much as I knew I was playing with quality, it still didn't feel like a strong entry-point for myself just on the basis that I'm a noob to it all entirely. I'll take Zio's recommendation to take on Generations, though, because it does look rad and I want to get rad with it, you know what I mean.

  9. Underwater fighting really isn't as bad as everybody says it is, but it's still pretty annoying. (Especially if you're going against the Plesioth)

but how the hell can you like the caedeus
Sure it's easy, and it's alt version gives you some of the best armor, but it's so mind numbingly boring.

but that might be due to me fighting it over 10 times because I wanted its set and had to help my friend make his own too...

  10. Monster Hunter Generationz demo is out. Game officially releases on the 15th.

So far, the new hunter styles are pretty sweet.
