~Mysteries at Hogwarts~ OOC

I've got a couple potential ideas though a few are a tad cliche. Going to wait till the end of the day and see what others create before I post one of mine.

 

Summer's coming, and fast, so my mind and amount of free time should expand drastically. Expect my character sheet by the 26th.

Name: Jack Forrest

Appearance:

Personality: Jack is a person who likes to make do with the best of what he has. He is someone who tries to keep a distance from disaster, but if something intrigues him, he will go forth through the thick and thin to satisfy his curiosity. His magical talent is somewhat natural, but he prefers to be towards the natural side of things, so while he can have extreme magical prowess, that might not be something that he would pursue, in favor of personal enjoyment.

Wand type: Rosewood, unicorn hair core, 14 1/2", unyielding.

Other: None yet.

Name: Akira Speare 


Appearance:

Personality: From being alone most of his life, Akira does not adjust well with new people and tries to stay away from them.  He finds comfort in practicing and perfecting his magic, which he did to try impress his father, Kain.  The only time Akira will show any negative emotion is when anyone talks bad about his "friends", dad, or his deceased mother.


Wand type: Apricot wood, dragon heartstring core, 8 3/4".


Other: At the age of 3, an event occurred that took Akira's mother's, Kaylie, life.  Akira has no relocation of that fated day and his father will not tell him what happened.

 

I promise the long ass wand will be explained IC. It has to do with his backstory, which I don't want to reveal yet ( @Rose if you need to hear it, feel free to inquire in PM ).

 

It's a back scratcher for Vold-I mean He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named isn't it?

Some boys at that age are packing.

I know you said only a couple of canon characters will be involved but I got a little curious. Would Tom Riddle be mentioned in any way and wasn't Malfoy a couple years older than the Marauders too? o.o

 

*clamps hands on ears* I do not want to hear anything about eleven year old boys packing anything! /horrified

I was wondering about the Malfoy thing too because unless I'm getting fanfiction mixed up with Canon again I thought he was only a couple years older than Snape and the Marauders.

Got my character thought up. Going to show it to a couple people and get some thoughts before I post it tomorrow.

If anything I think Lucius would probably join Hogwarts by our characters' 4-6th year if we DO put him in this that is.

I actually just did some research on that Fallen and found a couple interesting things. And no I'm not saying Rose should totally include any of this, this is just some interesting stuff I noticed about when our years at Hogwarts would be according to the official canon.

Marauders started school in 1971 so we would start in 1964.
1964 - Andromeda Tonks starts school at Hogwarts.
1965 - Ministry establishes the ban on experimental breeding
1966 - Narcissa Malfoy starts school at Hogwarts, Australia wins the Quidditch World Cup and Lucius is supposed to have started at Hogwarts either this year or the next year.
1967 - Lucius Malfoy is supposed to have started at Hogwarts either this year or the previous year
1968 - Arthur & Molly Weasley graduate from Hogwarts
1969 - Apparently nothing interesting happened this year. *shrugs*
1970 - The Whomping Willow is planted and the Shrieking Shack is built in anticipation of the next year's new arrival Remus Lupin. Also apparently this was the year when Voldemort started his first war.

Also of note is that apparently the 60s was the decade where Hagrid became the groundkeeper after former groundskeeper Ogg retired no later than 1968. Also McGonagall apparently became Head of Gryffindor House sometime between 1955 and 1961.

Okay enough with the nerdy stuff that doesn't matter, here's my character. Feel free to tell me how much it sucks.

Name: Zane McCollum

Appearance: About average height for one of his age, Zane has short dirty blonde hair that tends to be a bit wavy. His eyes are bright blue and tend to give off the impression that he is always looking for something.

Personality: Having a keen interest in the wizarding world, Zane finds joy in learning about all things magical though perhaps not as much as the stereotypical Ravenclaw as while he enjoys learning he isn't one to overstudy for hours on end. His favorite thing to learn about though are magical creatures as he's always been intrigued by animals. A joker as well, Zane loves to have fun with his friends but tends to prefer smaller groups over large crowds. He tends to be pretty easy to get along with and doesn't have much trouble making friends but when somebody does make an enemy of him it's a hard battle to lose that label.

Wand type:  Sycamore, dragon heartstring, 9 7/8"

Other: Zane is a half-blood who was raised by his muggle grandparents. He never knew his parents as his muggle mother died in childbirth and his wizard father left his mother after learning she was pregnant. All his grandparents have told him though was that both his parents were dead and it was never explained to him why. Additionally, Zane's father left his mother without ever telling her he was a wizard so it was quite a surprise to Zane and his grandparents one day when a tawny owl delivered a letter to his house about Hogwarts.

 

Oh god, I thought of Pokemon when I thought of your wand LOL

If anything, McGonagall is still a fairly new Head and can't wait to see Hagrid in this too

 

Not going to lie, Professor Sycamore was one of the reasons I went with that wandwood. The rest of my reasons come from doing a bit of research on Pottermore.
