Greetings from a wandering RPer

  1. I am relatively new to these parts, yet there are a few names that I recognize from my wanderings.  Chances are those individuals already know me as Loki, which for the past several years has been my moniker. As of the past year, however, I have been drifting away from it both as a result of where I am in life as well as how commonly used it is (and difficult to obtain without adding some form of unique identifiers.) As such, it is about time I start weaning away the old and embrace the new name of Isokanumaki, or Isoke for short. It is a kitsune character I first came up with for a Dresden Files based RP and it just kinda took hold.

    Anyways, I am rambling so to sum up; hello everybody, my name is Isoke!  Though my activity of writing has dwindled as of late, I have been RPing for a little over 5 years now.  I really hit my stride on a site called Footsteps of Ghosts where I met a lot of good writing friends and really developed my style both as a player and as a GM.

    My personal achievement on that site is an RP that has been running for over four years now and we have finally made it to the last round of posts.  Though there is only about 300 posts in that story, each post is a wall of text full of detail and character development.  As that site began a steady decline of inactivity, I spent much of my time on Elliquiy for a year or so, but found it difficult finding the sort of connection and reliable quality I got from FoG.  So once again I wandered from place to place until Kudamon pointed me here.

    After a bit of lurking, I find myself at home among the detailed IC posts.  It is something that is certainly promising, because I'm looking to once again set down roots on a quality RP forum. :)

  2. Oh hey there, welcome to ZEJ!

    It seems to me like you'll fit right in here. Anyway, as I'm sure you figured out whilst lurking, we have a bit of a process for RPing here, but we have that mostly to help people gauge interest in their RPs.

    RP ideas are typically put on the Interest Check subforum, and if there is enough interest, they'll then typically have an OOC thread and SU thread put in the Out of Character subforum, with an in-character thread then put into the corresponding "style" sections.

    With the boring stuff out of the way, I feel I should mention that ZEJ has two unique things in its RPing. First of all, we have one style called Statplaying, where you can see some examples Here. Statplaying is pretty much Exactly What It Says on the Tin, where you RP with stats, typically in a way that's similar to video games such as Final Fantasy Tactics or Fire Emblem. Currently, we don't really have a user-friendly start-up guide for Statplaying, but if you're interested, you can PM @Shadow, @Eebit, me, or several others about how to start in it.

    We also have Galamion, which is still starting up. Basically, it's a cooperative world which we plan to have many RPs in, hence why it has its own subforum. Interest checks for the "quests" (The RPs taking place in Galamion) are put into the regular interest checks forum.

    So anyway, yeah, welcome to ZEJ! Hopefully I didn't overwhelm you with all this, but I figured it'd be good to give a little rundown, haha. ~

  3. Well cheers to new beginnings then, Isoke! Welcome to ZEJ, and I hope that you enjoy your stay in what I like to refer to as our humble slice of the internet pie. We are a smaller RPing community, as I'm sure you can tell, but we do try to maintain fairly close ties amongst ourselves. Slowly, things will be picking up again for the summer rush, so I would like to think that you've chosen the right time to join in on the fun! Don't feel restricted to roleplays, though, since we do have other things to offer. The discussion is just as fun from time to time!

    It seems like Nate has covered most of the bases that I tend to cover when greeting newcomers, so I won't bore you with repetition. Only a 'howdy-doo' and well-wishes that you have a good time here. As mentioned by Nate, I'll happily answer any questions that you have. I do consider myself a walking compendium of ZEJ knowledge, so shoot me a PM if you need a hand with anything, are looking for an RP to jump into, or just want to have a chat and a cup o' tea (the tea costs extra).

  4. I take it this is you? If so, hi! I'm Nebulon Ranger/Dark/TheDW/whatever the fuck I'm calling myself now (I don't have as many names as @Jonno or @Cid, though). I'm responsible for general forum software upkeep, so if shit breaks, talk to me!

    We've got many an interesting RP or RP-related An Thing going around here. There's one in the header, even: the Manaverse Wiki, a collaboratively-edited wiki containing information on the dominant project around these parts, the Manaverse!

    As for RPs, myself and @Spaughtyena (whom I know IRL along with @Cid and @Codex, but that's not entirely relevant) have a few things that might interest you: Of Wars in Osyrhia, which is my personal project, and Empties, Spaught's current project. I have another RP in the works, but it's not near complete plot-wise yet.

  8. Oh wow, I've actually lurked that forum for quite some time now. The writing that I've seen there is quite excellent in my opinion, and if I had more time, I might have devoted myself to that forum as well as these others.

    It's nice to meet you. I'm Gist, as my username states. I don't really spend that much time on this site writing wise, but I've been here for a little over a year now, and having been writing for at least seven years. I know that you have been barraged with links and all, but I had one more that has a bit of prevalence here. We do have an IRC channel which sees quite a bit of activity around the clock. This is where most of the more active members reside, and is actually the first place I went even before I came to the forum itself.

    It's extremely exciting to see some new blood around here, so like the others have said in multitude, welcome to ZEJ.

  10. Should probably make a post outside of C&G; posts aren't counted here and the board prunes all zero-posters after 90 days (we had a spam outbreak at one point and I had to enable it to cull the 100+ bot accounts we had).
