Favourite Genre?

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous Conjectures' started by Cid, May 14, 2013.

  1. Action, Adventure, Fantasy, there are several Genres for numerous things out there. For games, some like comedy don't work so well, and for movies, well... lets see you try to make a puzzle with that. Anyway, what is your favourite Genre?

For me, I prefer Action/Adventure/RPG/Strategy for the most part, although I suck with Strategy games. When reading a book, it just has to be a bit adventurous for me to be the least bit interesting. When gaming, I would rather play something like Terrarria, or FFTA before playing something like Lemmings, although some exceptions have been made, like Portal. Anyway, go ahead.

  2. Generally high or dark fantasy for anything; RPG or dungeon crawler for games and I always love a good dystopia.

  3. To quote my post in the Massive Compilation of Questions thread (that everyone should totally check out):

That's more strictly related to the types of video games I play. On the whole, though, I really love sci-fi, especially a good dystopian social commentary. A Clockwork Orange was a pretty cool book, once you can immerse yourself in the language that it uses (since it uses a weird Anglo-Russian dialect for about half of the words to tone down the intense graphic nature of the scenes). I obviously am a fantasy nut, since I have grown up under the spell of a massive variety of fantasy novels.
I also am down with a good, deep, and psychological/cerebral plot that really makes you think. And psychological thrillers are pretty cool too. Not so down for flat-out horror movies, though.

  4. For roleplays, I like Fantasy, horror, etc. As for books, Fantasy, horror, historical, sci-fi, it depends on the book. But for movies I'll watch whatever sounds interesting.

  5. I enjoy Horror and Dramas. I also enjoy stories with choice, and multiple endings based on previous actions (Heavy Rain I love you.) However I am also a steampunk fan~
