Wii U Discussion

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous Conjectures' started by Wonder Smash, Nov 24, 2012.

  1. This is a thread about Nintendo's next-gen console, in case the title was confusing. :p

I really like it so far. My two games, Nintendo Land and New Super Mario Bros U, are both great. Nintendo Land is a surprisingly fun party game, while New Super Mario Bros U is probably the best ''New'' game yet, and can be very challenging, especially on challenge mode.

And, of course, there's the GamePad, which is just plain cool, whether I'm running away from angry Toads, shooting enemies from a gunship, or commanding Pikmin on Nintendo Land, or just playing Mario on the GamePad itself. There are other features too.

Miiverse is interesting, and I've seen quite a few pictures that have made me laugh. There's also the Internet Browser, which I'm using right now. :p My only complaint is the somewhat long loading times for almost everything.

In conclusion... I really like Wii U! What's your opinion on it?

  2. After the first day of updates, I'm not seeing much in the way of lag, of which I'm thankful. That first update to connect to Miiverse really allowed me some time to pick up on new world philosophies and reflect on the past decade of my life. Anywho, what can I say? It's an amazing system. I've made some sweet acquaintances over the Miiverse who I am able to play online with in Assassin's Creed III (this is the definitive version, too, in my opinion), and I've of course been playing a heck of a lot of New Super Mario Bros. U, too. The GamePad streaming is truly impressive, and seeing Nintendo games in HD for the first time will be a continuous treat. If NSMBU looks this good (and yes, I definitely agree that it is easily the most worthwhile NSMB title!), then just imagine what a 3D Mario will look like, or the next full console Zelda game, or Super Smash Bros. 4? We're in for a hefty treat with the Wii U, us fans, I'll tell ya that. They've really made some great strides that were not technically achievable with just the Wii, and I'm really looking forward to see what else is in store for us for the next half-decade or so! I've also sent you a friend request over Miiverse. :p

  3. Just got around to beating NSMBU after a while of having not played it (mostly because I was unable to save in the last world, and my little sister wanted to be present when I beat it. Thank goodness for duplicate files!). Me and a friend of mine went through some of the levels I hadn't beaten yet to fool around and teach her the ropes of the game. T'was much fun, even though she spent half the time dead and it was mostly me beating the levels. :p

We also hopped onto Miiverse at one point, just to post a couple things for kicks... but when we needed to actually set up the Miiverse and saw what other people were posting (for instance, one guy marked a post as spoilers with the content of "I have a lot of 1UPs"), we started to get a little creative with it. She's a pretty solid artist, and when I have Wi-Fi from the Wii U again, I'll post some shots of the stuff she was creating. It was a good time.

Gotta say, I love the Wii U more than I initially thought I would have. It's really cool, deviates from the norm of gaming as Nintendo has in the past. Even though the games lineup isn't exactly the most established yet, I look forward to seeing some of the other games that come out to use the functionality of it a little more. Wind Waker HD, for instance, looks incredible (if a little heavy on the bloom lighting), and I'm eagerly hoping that they will actually go and add the dungeons/content that they needed to cut the first time around back in.

and then when some guy randomly responded to her post with the Zapdos zooming past, she chose to respond with this:

  5. That drawing of Nigel is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in my life. Really thinking about it, it may only be beaten by this:

But yeah, right now for me, the Miiverse is really offering a whole lot of "replayability", despite it not being an actual game. I find myself spending more and more time on there than anything else the Wii U has to offer right now. I'm sure that'll change once some new games I'm actually interested in release this year, like the aforementioned Wind Waker HD and the two Mario games apparently on the way in which, with Kart, we'll all definitely have to play together over Wi-Fi as soon as possible! But again, for now, Miiverse is king. Right now, I'm trying my hand at telling (bad) Luigi-centric jokes for likes in the Year of Luigi thread, which is working out well enough.

By the way, Bashful Zapdos 4 SSB4.
