Tower of Heaven

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous Conjectures' started by Eebit, Nov 12, 2011.

  1. Bringing this old gem of a game to the forefront of forum attention, seeing as it was back at ye olde ZEJ, so why not~

An incredibly difficult platformer, with graphics and music reminiscent of old Game Boy games. The game is definitely a perfect example of Nintendo Hard.

The main premise is the player's character is attempting to climb to the top of the titular "Tower of Heaven", while the divine entity in said Tower continuously adds rules that the player must adapt to in each level. These rules include, but are certainly not limited to "not moving left on the ground", and "not touching live objects (plants, bugs, etc)".

Expect maaaany deaths on your way to the top of the Tower, as some of the rules will make you want to smash your computer. There's a level editor as a reward for those who manage to complete this game, so should you manage to get there with your computer intact, feel free to share your levels here!

  2. How many levels are there? I am on level four, but the gold bricks look shiny, I want to touch them...

Edit: I think I just finished it, never mind.

  3. I'm still better than you. Oh wait you're banned lolrofl.

Tower of Heaven? More like, Tower of Shadow.

  4. Wow, just noticed this thread from seeing Cerby looking at it. Well, I guess I'll give this a try...

    EDIT: LOLWOW, that was fun.
Anyway, got to Level 7 before stopping for now.

  5. *flips a table*
    *and then incinerates it*

I can't get past that stretch of rotary blades in Level 11. Half the time I don't even jump high enough and die on the spikes that precede the saw blade expanse.

It's a really interesting game though. The music is awesome, the graphics, for 8-bit, are pleasing, and it's really developed. I'll make a point of picking it up again~

  6. I remember playing this long ago and came THIS close to beating it but in a fit of ragequit, well, quit. I'll tackle this again soon.
