The Northern Winds

Discussion in 'Roleplay Archives' started by Irouk Inverse, Jul 22, 2013.

  1. On the frozen plains of Balmamusa several miles away from the nearest city, there were a small group of travelers treading through the deep snow. Travelers in Balmamusa was already a rare sight to see, but what's even rarer is that these travelers were all the way out here, far from any civilization. The lack of any kind of food source, along with the biting cold and unforgiving snowstorm, was enough to drive almost anyone away from the general vicinity. But apparently it wasn't the case with this group, they had a task to complete. Though when they left the city they were warned to tread lightly, as the frozen plains were home to various predatory animals, all of them having adapted to the harsh coldness and endless snowstorms. The group, with most of them not being used to such harsh climates, would be at a natural disadvantage in the snow. However the journey so far had been going fairly smoothly with nothing besides the deep snow and low visibility to slow down their search.

Of course that peace didn't last for very long as the sound of a howl came from a distance away. Moments later more howling could be heard, they were louder now, or maybe closer. And soon after the howls ended the group could see yellow eyes and gleaming white fangs through the snowstorm; they were slowly approaching. The eyes and fangs belonged to four white wolves, all of which looked hungry and bloodthirsty. The wolves circled the group and surrounded them, there was no way for them to escape now.

  2. Nisale starts in D5

The sting of the cold seethed through Nisale's thin leather, the warmth it provided was little if any, and the air threatened to turn it into glass, or cease the functioning of his fingers. He inhaled, almost coughing at the dryness of the frigid air as it sucked the moisture out of his breath. It was a relief to Nisale that no trouble had befallen them, especially when he had approached those of the city, fearing his appearance alone would've stirred trouble, but instead it evoked expressions of fear, and distrust; These were Nisale's craft.

He wasn't keen on his companions. He had never traveled in a group before, unless he was skulking within the city walls, flirting with the married menfolk, or slitting an elderly woman's throat to earn his daily bread. However, in such a time – and with the promise of what would surely be enough gold to live comfortably until his deathbed, Nisale had been more than inclined to help with the fetch and retrieve of the princess that he was sure the lordfolk and citizenship could do without from a purely governmental standpoint.

Nisale remained silent, as the minutes, or hours of squinting into an abundance of blinding snow, and trudging through the realization that his toes had lost all feeling. Out of sheer curiosity and an assassin's habit, Nisale began to analyze his companions. He made sure to walk behind them, and he knew the squinting and low visibility would be as much of a virtue as it was a curse, as his companions would have no reason to suspect why Nisale would stare, as the color differentiation of their armors would soothe his eyes, and help prevent white-blindness, while the snow would seek to enter their eyes, and make it harder to detect danger.

The first, was the girl. She, like him, had white apparel. It looked to be a white dress, and was only visible by its accents of red and blue. She held a large staff that was in the shape of a cross, and he assumed she was spiritually in-tuned. The other was a strange male adorned in metal armors. And though it wasn't easy to spot him through the snow, it was easy to hear him – at least to Nisale's sensitive ears. With every step it was like a rock hitting a pan, or crashing cutlery.

However, Nisale's moment of thought was forcefully cut short as he heard a pack of hungry ferals headed their way. Immediately, Nisale lowered his body slightly, and pulled his daggers from the backs of his hips, and let them gleam of the white of the snow. He saw the pack come in view and he began to bare teeth just as they did, only Nisale was far more contained, leaving the growling and drooling to the beasts before him. No doubt the beasts were having just as much trouble finding other creatures as they were, and so Nisale could not blame them for wanting to satisfy the dull ache of hunger they surely felt. Even still, Nisale did not have the desire to become a meal, nor did he intend on giving these creatures any satisfaction or an acquired taste for anthromorph.

Nisale's eyes darted from one wolf to the next, knowing that the only advantage the wolves had, was the desire to eat sentient beings. They possessed no greater senses than Nisale, and their thinking process was nothing compared to the civilized races, and their crude, birthweapons were no match for the weapons he and his companions carried, no doubt tempered with skill. ”It saddens me to see such gorgeous creatures turn to suicide, but It would be more cruel for me to ignore their requests for release.” Nisale's voice had a soft, sinister feel, as he narrowed his eyes, and gripped his knives tightly, eagerly awaiting the spray of blood.

  3. Lilliana starts at cell F-5

With the snowstorm beating against her body and the frost biting at her face Lilliana stood motionless against the beasts that began circling them. She couldn't feel it. Her body was already ice cold to the touch with no warmth within it, so the cold was in fact welcomed by the woman's body. She eyed the wolves in front of her and took a deep breath. Immediately she was filled with a powerful urge and she quickly used her hands to cover her face. She could smell it, these wolves had in them what she did not. In fact everyone here had it. She turned her head toward the acolyte sent to accompany her on this mission, Alla, and took another deep breath, trying to calm herself. She just needed to get through these wolves without going mad, then she could ask Alla for some time alone.
