The Avengers

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous Conjectures' started by Wonder Smash, Feb 26, 2012.

  1. If you're a Marvel fan like me, one of the biggest events of the year is The Avengers movie coming May 4th. For me, it's second only to Nintendo's Wii U, due to launch late this year. But this isn't about Wii U, so if you want to talk about that, go to that topic. :p First of all, the ground rule of this topic is DON'T GIVE ANY SPOILERS!!! If you know what really happens, great, but don't spoil it for the rest of us. lol. If you saw something in one of the two official trailers that you want to talk about, that's just fine, because most people have seen the trailers. Speculation is perfectly fine, and is pretty much the point of this topic. Whether it's a possible (Not actual) plot, or an idea for a cameo, please say it here. I'll start by saying that I hope they (The director and writers) don't kill anyone important. Keep Steve, Tony, Thor, Bruce, Clint, Natasha, Nick, Phil, and other important heroes alive. Also, keep Loki and at least a few Skrulls (I assume that's what the aliens in the latest trailer are.) alive. I don't care how dramatic it makes the movie, it's too early to kill any of them in my opinion.

  2. just one thing I wonder.

WHY CAN'T THEY HOLD ON TO THE SAME ACTOR FOR HULK.

Also, you know that villains will be killed off too early. It's happened in every marvel movie.

  3. Not always, although I'll admit it happens too often for my liking. Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Venom, Sabretooth (Possibly alive), and in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Iron Monger, Whiplash (Again, possibly alive) and arguably Red Skull, although I have a theory that he was really just teleported to the Frost Giant's planet and frozen solid like Cap was. At least Magneto and Doctor Doom lived to the end of their respective movie series. :D I also think that the main reason they replaced Bruce's actor Edward Norton is because they're using some technology (The same one they used for movies like Avatar) that allows them to project the face of the actor onto Hulk. I guess they thought Norton didn't have a good face for Hulk or something, so they replaced him with Mark Ruffalo, who they felt would be a better fit for both Banner and Hulk. I'm not saying I agree with them, but that was probably they're reasoning.

Also, THE NEWEST TRAILER HAS NOW BEEN RELEASED!!!! (On iTunes and Youtube) I have to say I like the fact that it looks like the heroes will have a hard time working together. One of the reasons why I like Marvel so much is because of their flawed characters with problems like the rest of us who are still cool. :D The scenes where Tony faces off against Skrull ships look pretty awesome too.

  4. Yes. Just yes.

Marvel did an excellent job at giving the weakness of humanism to the heroes. It's what gives them actual depth, what makes one truly connect with these super-powered heroes.

  5. Exactly. Iron Man is a genius with super-powered armor, but he's also Tony Stark, who struggles with alchohol addiction. Captain America is a soldier with more strength and agility than most other humans, but he's also Steve Rogers, who is depressed because everyone he's ever known is gone. Thor is the freaking God of Thunder, but he's arrogant and quick to fight, and could easily get himself or others injured or killed because of that. Bruce Banner is a brilliant Gamma Radiation scientist, but he's also The Hulk, who... I don't think needs much explaining. :p Not to mention he's a federal fugitive just because of his condition. Clint Barton and Natasha Romanoff are skilled S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents Hawkeye and Black Widow, but against Loki? They can't do much. Not all Marvel heroes have such glaring flaws, but plenty of them do, and while they're problems are insanely large compared to ours, it's the fact that they have problems that makes them so relatable.

  6. Hey guys... THE AVENGERS COMES OUT IN ELEVEN DAYS!!!! IT LOOKS SO AWESOME!!!! Anyway, I'd like to take this opportunity to try to continue this thread. Any thoughts on this probably awesome movie?

  7. I've heard that the movie was actually phenomenal, which wouldn't surprise me very much, but I have yet to see it. I'm really interested in this sort of thing, so I'll probably end up seeing it after I get done with school for the week... but for now, going off of the reactions of my friends (and people on lolTwitter), I think it's safe to say that the movie is fantastic.

Hopefully this makes up for Thor's (in my opinion) lacking plotline. :p

Has anyone else seen it yet?

  8. IT IS FUCKING AWESOME! But I really want some shawarma.

  9. It was indeed extremely AWESOME. It was also hilarious. I was laughing for a good portion of the movie. At your earliest convenience, you MUST SEE IT! Remember, there's a post-credits scene, as always, in addition to a pre-credits scene. I won't give away any more spoilers... hopefully. :p
