So... Windows 8?

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous Conjectures' started by TheAuthorGl1m0, Mar 23, 2013.

  1. So, I just got my new laptop in today. YAY! Finally, I can play better games! And run FRAPS! :D (Maybe I should start an LP series...)

The only thing though is that it comes pre-installed with Windows 8. I can't say I love it, but so far I'm adapting to it. I just use the Desktop function more than anything though, so it seems rather pointless for a laptop...

Anyone else have a chance to use 8? Any thoughts on it?

  2. I'm using Windows 8.

I don't see what everyone's talking about with it sucking. It's not terrible, even though I do prefer Windows 7.

  3. Actually, I've been looking into a laptop myself for when I go off to university (actually actually, I would rather just keep my personal desktop being that I built it and everything), and the one that I have been looking into runs on Win8. I never personally liked Vista or Win7, and still use XP on my own computer, so the upgrade will definitely be a change for me.

From what I have heard of it though, it is actually a pretty solid OS and not nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I've used it a bit with my mum's laptop/the family computer, so I do have a bit of firsthand experience... I do like it a lot better than Win7, though I suppose it is too early to tell.

  4. It does its job, and it does it well. So far I've had no problems running it, and most of the programs that I could run on XP can be run on 8 as well, so that's a bonus. (Just some of the REALLY old programs remain problematic, but I still can find ways to get around them.)The only trick is getting used to the interface, but once you do that, the rest is a breeze.

Also, I'm currently playing Amnesia. On the highest graphics and resolution. No lag. :D I think I'm in love... (Now to wait for the sequel...)
