Pokemon Conquest

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous Conjectures' started by Electro, Jul 5, 2012.

  1. In case no one noticed, Pokemon Conquest is out, and I have to say, epic. The battle system is awesome, story's cool, graphics and music are good, my only issue is variety. 199 pokemon. Total. Over all though, good game. Anyone else have it? If so, give your thoughts, as well as anything else youwant tosay, and for those without it, get it, and any questions or comments, go!

  2. While I've heard a couple things about this, I never really found the concept of making some fairly-silly crossover between history and Pokémon all that interesting. I'm not sure about all the rest of you, it just seems sort of... tacky, to take those two unrelated things which are both big attention-grabbers in their own rights to pretty much sell a bunch of copies. Smart business move by Nintendo, just not particularly something that piqued my interest.

But this is all just from somebody who never really followed the game to begin with. Hopefully others enjoyed it more than I did. Anyone else care to try and sell me on the game? :p

  3. Well I am fan of games with strategy like Fire Emblem and even games like Pikmin. Pokemon has been a favorite game series for me for a long time and making it have a similar game-mechanic to games like Fire Emblem(Love this game) really sparked my interest in the game.

I borrowed my friend's DS the other and let me try his current file in Conquest(forget where he was at) and I liked how the game was. Sure there is some things I would change(mainly because I'm used to Fire Emblem and FF Tactics Advance), but overall it's a cool game that you can actually somewhat learn from. When I have enough money, I will definetely by this game.

  4. Yeah, Failen basically summed up what I think. At first I was 'Meh' like Eeb, but I watched a couple of anniecarrots' playthrough vids of Conquest and noticed that it was extremely similar to FFTA2 in some way (even - especially - the traps and the like, lol) so I got my cousin who had it to bring it over and play it with me. I wouldn't say it's brilliant, but it is still very good, and worth having, I guess.

  5. I wasn't sure about Pokemon Conquest at first, I'll admit. I remember hearing WAAAY back (early 2011) that a crossover between Pokemon and Nobunaga's Ambition was being made. I thought, "Gosh, that's pretty unusual," and nothing more. Still, I found myself following along and, being a part-time strategist in gaming, thought it would be a fun romp for when it came around, and a nice distraction until B2&W2 come out.

So, when the game comes out? I bought it. I read several positive reviews, so I was pretty primed to play...and I must say, Conquest is a pleasant surprise. It may not be the most challenging Turn-Based strategy out there, but it's still a pretty fun ride. I took the time to experiment with all the Warrior/Pokemon combinations, evolutions, etc, and I found it to be quite engaging and, dare I say, addicting. The story was somewhat simplistic I found (you're a newbie Warlord and you have to take over all 17 kingdoms of Ransei before the mean Warlord Nobunaga does), but the localization is pretty well-done for a game supposed to be based on feudal Japan.

But that's just me. I haven't had the chance to play Multiplayer against another friend of mine... 'cause I have no friends who have this game, let alone heard of it. :( Still, it's pretty fun to play. I'd recommend it to strategy fans in general.

  6. Already played through it, and beat it. Still got a bunch of side quest lines to go through, but its a fantastic game, great battle system, and even the evoloution of pokemon is unique in this game, yeah.... Check it out!
