Oblivion Phantasy ~ A Decaying Flux 【RP Thread】

  1. Krie grinned wickedly, but the taint of his rather nonchalant nature remained plastered on his face. He slammed on of his fists into his other hand and turned to face the gate. "I see we have our lineup then, eh?" he said and let out a bellowing laugh as if it didn't matter anymore. "Listen up, folks. I'm gonna do my thing and keep goin', so make sure you're right behind me! If we get lucky, the commotion won't get too out of hand. If it does, we can handle it. With the way things are, I'll be the one taking the first hits if it comes to blows with whatever's guardin' this place. They'll focus on me and you guys'll leap out of seemingly nowhere and devastate them, heh heh. They won't know what's comin'." Here, he grew silent and eerily still. His head hung low for a moment and his body seemed to tremble as if it were about to give way. It was here that he lifted his head to the ceiling, his eyes flashing bright, and he roared with an immense ferocity only known to the toughest of beasts. A red aura blazed around him, and he continued to fill the surrounding air with the sheer might of his voice. The aura danced and flickered, reaching higher and higher. It became so dense that it cut into the ground around Krie's feet and seemed to distort the air itself.

    "HERE WE GO!! THIS IS THE WAY TO DO THINGS!!!" he shouted as he finished his extensive roar, apparently done to increase his power. His grin was the epitome of cocky as he glanced at the door with his luminous eyes and he charged forth. With each step he took, the aura around his feet made craters in the ground, the debris he kicked up disintegrating into nothing. He drew nearer and nearer to the gate, but he had no intent of slowing down.

    ...

    He crashed...into the gate. One would expect for a normal person to get sent flying back or to crumple to the ground, wounded and wondering why they would try something so idiotic. One forgets that this is Brutal Krie. As man met gate, the gate exploded, the resulting pieces getting sent flying, but burning away into oblivion by his aura before they had a chance to hurt anyone. The aura dissipated immediately afterwards, and Krie hunched over breathing heavily. It had taken a lot of energy, but his allies were counting on him. He took a deep breath and gestured to the inside, beads of sweat upon his brow and his skin flush. Still, a confident smirk was beset upon his face. He closed his eyes in cheer. "That's how it's done, eh? Heh heh. Best not to linger. Let's go."
     
  2. ~ C R I T I C A L ~ R A T I O ~ P E R C E N T A G E ~

    Whenever a damaging strike is successfully performed on a target, whether being physical, magical or spiritual, there is a chance--albeit low--of the damage catching said target off-guard, or perhaps even hitting a vital spot, causing it to have a bigger impact on it, notably increasing the damage dealt. Of course, the ratio of such an event happening is directly affected by a character's Profession, and even Equipment, so it is likely that a Trained Assassin would be more adept at dealing Critical Hits than a Barrier Master would.

    This essentially means you will be having yet another small Stat to add in your Profiles. It is called Critical, which stands for simply "Critical Ratio", followed with a percentage which determines the chances of said character scoring a Critical Hit on the target. Critical Ratio, like Evasion Ratio, will not increase with Stat Points; instead, there will be certain Levels that, upon the character reaching them, their Critical will increase at minuscule amounts much alike Evasion, except the gaps between these Levels are much further apart. All Profiles have been edited with a "Critical" Stat field accordingly, so there will be no need to do so manually.

    Chaos. The blustering noise of an alarm pierced the entire technological monolith as Brutal Krie reduced the immense steel door to a gigantic opening from which the rest of Team Delta-Q emerged, shrouded in determination. A chorus of frantic screams of the people inside joined the deafening bleep that notified the entire Minerva Complex of unwanted infiltrators, but it was nothing but a background sound to the party as they dashed through the concrete, brightly-lit corridors momentarily flooded in a malicious red light that soon faded by the alarm lights, it seemed to indefinitely branch to other sectors--but they knew their destination. Level 5. A cacophony of arrhythmical, muffled steps could be heard in adjacent hallways, Guard Knights and Far Gunners desperately attempting to locate the breach and the perpetrators, with no avail. The passing seconds seemed like entire minutes as the seven continued running, knowing they would eventually reach the end...

    "Stop right there!!" A male voice boomed from the far end of the straightening corridor, immediately followed by steps hurriedly making their way through a flight of descending stairs in the far end that would lead the group to Level 4. "Squadron 6, we've found the intruders!"

    Three Guard Knights, clad in strong, bulky armor came into view, positioning themselves in front of the group, massive, oval-shaped shields almost the size of their own bodies flashing with the uniform light cast by artificial lights that lined the ceiling. Behind them, two Far Gunners immediately followed, slim suits tagged with the Minerva Complex logo with formal patterns of black, white and gray complemented with helmets with jet black visors shrouding their identities into anonymity. They were, in fact, simple soldiers assigned to guard such important facility, at a time of peril like the Era of Decay. Simultaneous clicks and clacks came from their assault rifles as they double-checked them for ammo before crouching down and aiming their readied weapons at Team Delta-Q.

    Emerging from beyond, two hovering machines slowly moved forward with a strange, almost alien whirring noise, placing themselves in the gap between the Guard Knights and the Far Gunners. Their main, mechanical body was a slightly curving length of armored steel which was was painted a metallic black, a single, perfectly round opening in the center of their frontal side showcased a gleaming red light; four extremely thin and fragile "legs" hung from the machine's lower side, sparking dangerous momentary trails of blue electricity every now and then as they alternated their slow, slight movents hypnotically. Teal Mana pulsed from behind their body components, dissolving into nothing, as an active Mana Core inside them worked to sustain the machines. Painted in a white, industrial font, the small message could barely be discerned, "Core Drone UNIT 1" and "Core Drone UNIT 2", respectively.

    The whole situation evoked an aura of protection--an obstacle defining a metaphorical fortress the party would have to overcome. Could they do so before being delayed too much?



    Chapter I ~ III B: Improvised Infiltration


    Location: Minerva Complex - Level 3 Corridor

    Objective: Defeat the Enemy Characters OR use Trigger Command: Continue Through! on the Target Zones!

    Time Limit: 15 Turns.

    Atmosphere: None.

    Energy Condition: Varied Mana Density: Special Command: Cycle Mana! will Restore between 3% and 7% / 10% and 15% Max MP, depending on the Occupying Cell.

    Party Limit: 2/6 [REQUIRED: Kaya Escala / Brutal Krie]

  3. [Hiiro starts on cell I3]

    Hiiro, following right behind Krie and Kaya, all but ignoring the alarms running through the complex. As they walked through the cold, metal-lined hallway, the first line of defense in this strange tower showed its face. Five humans and two robots came from beyond what they could see. Three of the humans held large shields, which would no doubt protect them from physical attacks. The other humans held guns, which meant they would no doubt try to pick off the party sent by the Aria of Order. For now, Hiiro could not discern the function of the robots, but figured that they would go down without much struggle for him.

    The danger was no matter, however. Hiiro knew that they would near-doubtlessly succeed in their mission -- why else would they be chosen for it? Going to the left of the corridor, Hiiro positioned himself so he could maneuver so he could easily target the robot that stood behind the guard knights. Hiiro gave a short, almost annoyed sound, as if disappointed. "A lmost expected half an army to come after us," Hiiro scoffed, giving a bit of a chuckle, "this should be easy enough."
     
  4. [Toiran starts at I6.]

    Toiran had been following his team silently for the most part, but now he was to do battle. Fine by him. Tapping Ariyou's head absentmindedly, he muttered for the wolf to stay back for the time being as he stepped forward, whip in hand and clawed glove on the other. Analyzing the enemy side, he calculated his team's chances- they seemed to be fairly good compared to the previous battle. Even if they weren't, there was a path beyond. If worse came to worse, they could flee.

    Another aspect of the battlefield caught his eye. Two steel doors to the side. Vaguely wondering what could be beyond them, he positioned himself as close to them as possible, hoping whichever beast he summoned in the fight would handle it.
     
  5. Krie starts at I4.

    Krie sighed as the group was forced to come to a stop, their path obstructed by armed soldiers and robots tasked with guarding the tower. His method of infiltration had been a bit unorthodox, but as he ran through the corridors before, he couldn't help but relish in the complete chaos that had been created--chaos meant to buy them time. Even the guards seemed disoriented. Who would break into the tower? Krie smirked evilly. "Looks as if we're going to have to do some clean-up before moving on, eh, Stone Man?" Here, Krie laughed and gazed past the guards. There appeared to be a staircase at the far end of the corridor. It led down, no doubt to a different level. Looks as though that's where we're headed, heh heh heh, he thought, shifting his nonchalant gaze to the enemies presented. He took out his scythe and slammed the butt of the shaft of it into the floor. "Give 'em hell!! They're not going to hold back on the likes of us, eh?" he shouted with firm resolve, ready to get on with the battle.
     
  6. [Hendrix starts at I5]

    While remaining silent, Hendrix had followed Kaya and Krie to this room, but yet again the group ended up in another sticky situation. The room was fairly small and there were 7 enemies in front of them, 3 close-range, 2 far-range, and the 2 drones were probably mid-range. Seeing that this is a small corridor, Hendrix switched his weapon into its dagger form for more precise, strength attacks. He looked over at Toiran, whom was staring at the Steel doors near the right wall.

    Hendrix walked over to Toiran and stopped right next to him. "Seems like you have a plan." Hendrix said to his ally as he pointed his dagger at the enemy directly in front of them. "I'll give you cover, but if it starts to get bad retreat right away. We don't want anymore deaths."

    (Taroh starts at J6)

    Taroh and Nicoro came in lagging noticeably behind their comrades. They had kept silent their entire way here, they didn't like it when others fought. The two of them scanned the crowd in unison, there was a small platoon of soldiers, and a gate to the right. Taroh sat down, knowing he likely wouldn't be moving for the most part. He plugged his ears, as the loud roar of the alarm was making him nervous.

    Nicoro on the other hand gleamed with childlike excitement at the new challenge. He grabbed the shoulders of the weapons expert in front of him with a tight squeeze. He shook him heartily and screamed into his ear in pent up joy LET'S GO BEAT UP SOME DUDES!
     
  8. {Kaya starts at I2!}

    Kaya rolled her eyes as she noticed the formation of guards obstructing their path. She shook her head in disgust, before looking onwards, and taking a stand next to Hiiro. She tilted her head in his direction and winked playfully, as though approving of his disdain of his opponent’s. “C’mon kiddo, don’t underestimate your opponents now. I’m sure these ever-so-competent guards will be able to secure their own lines!” She giggled, as though the sight of the guards had dissolved her previous disposition.

    She leaned upon her staff and looked at her allies. Krie seemed to be more than ready to take on the world, which was something Kaya admired about his battle style… despite his unorthodox attitude and tactics. Hendrix himself seemed to be strategizing with Toiran, who in turn did not seem to react, instead buried deep within his own thoughts. Taroh, as usual, was embarrassing himself with his antics by simply sitting down in the rear of the battlefield; Nicoro in turn shouted something in his ear, which Kaya could not hear over the roar of the alarm.

    Everyone seems so… nonchalant, in spite of the guns… It’s brilliant. Kaya thought to herself in the midst of the battle. Oh yes, this would be entertaining; a much needed break after the trauma caused by the enormous golems.

    Hiiro ran forward so as to get closer to the robot he chose to attack. He ran past the guard Knight, looking over to the soldier as he did so. With a grunt, he flung his right leg in a roundhouse kick toward the girl with the giant shield. Continuing the momentum, he spun to continue facing the robot he would attack.

    Nicoro let go of his weapon happy friend and grabbed Taroh by the collar. He shook the boy violently until an arcane force started to shake the boy up itself. The effect transferred to Nicoro himself. Excited to make the most of his power he ran out into the open and spread out his decorative wingspan. It grew several times the size it should be until the tips touched the ceiling. The wings curved at touched each other at the tips, creating a kind of mirror of the formation of his enemies. Of course, it was all an illusion, the wingspan still had no credibility to it, Nicoro could just as well take the form of little girl for all it mattered.

    Toiran glanced towards Hendrix and nodded subtly, then turned his gaze back to his opponents. Then suddenly he snapped the fingers of his clawed glove, and in a somewhat flashy swirl of mana, a russet-furred fox appeared directly in front of him. The vixen gave a short bark and stood at her master's feet, ready to do his bidding.

    Without so much as a few words exchanged, the action had immediately begun to unfold before Kaya’s eyes. Hiiro sprinted forward from his position beside her, causing her to grin. A tagteam assault on the bulked up knights in front of them would serve the infiltration attempt well. Kaya stepped forward; a meagre movement which would put herself into the range of the Guard Knight in front of her. She brandished her staff in two swooping arcs, akin to a baton thrower’s figure eight. She grinned as both ends caught fire, releasing two serpentine blasts of flame, which alternately coiled the guardian.

    As the blaze licked the armour, the illusionary snakes plunged their heads through the protective covering of the knight, scathing the skin beneath the outer shell, and sinking their venomous fangs into the skin proper. Right where I want you, Kaya thought to herself. The scene before her was gruesome, yet satisfying, but Kaya had other priorities as well. Looking to her right, she saw the rest of the battle unfolding, and called out to her allies.

    Hendrix! Krie! Attack the knight in the centre. Nicoro and Toiran, you take the knight to the right!” She was unperturbed by the flashy display of theatrics that Nicoro was putting on, and Toiran seemed to have his own agenda. Perhaps they already knew what to do, but it was best that the entire team be on the same page - especially when dealing with the organized formation before them.

    Krie unleashed a devastating roar that paled in comparison to the one he had let out when breaking through the main gate, but an aura could be seen around him nonetheless. The limit was practical for these purposes. He relaxed his grip on his scythe and gazed nonchalantly at the guard in the center of their formation and pointed a finger at him. "Sorry fella, but girlie here wants me to take you out," he stated, shrugging his shoulders as if it were no big deal. "I'm sure you can handle the likes of me, eh?" Here, the large man let out a bellowing laugh and adjusted his footing, readying himself to charge forward and attack. Of course, if the man came to him, all the better. In any case, he was overdue for a pleasant slaughtering. I know they'll at least keep us occupied for a bit, heh heh heh, he thought, taking quick glances at the other enemies around the area.

    Krie waits.

    ~ Enemy Phase I ~

    The female Guard Knight gasped in surprise as the serpents of fire coiled around her body, scorching her through the strong mail that was her armor, fangs of flame viciously sinking into her skin to inject a certain poison. Aigis burst through the flames, slamming her massive shield down the ground to reduce her backward momentum as the Guard Knight in the center yelled out to his companions, "Lukas, Aigis, defensive formation! Damien, Nate, aim from behind!!", to which the other Guard Knight simply replied, "Roger that!" as he mimicked Aigis' actions, except he placed the shield directly in front of him, covering a vast majority of his armored body.

    The leading Guard Knight stepped towards the weakened female and skillfully treated her wounds as the two Far Gunners, behind the human barricade, slowly took aim at the group. "...", one seemed to almost lazily look through the scope of his assault rifle, as he moved forward, positioning himself almost apathetically along with his teammate in the gap that was just formed, seemingly waiting for something to happen... The machines, instead, did something different rather than preparing or attacking. Their single, beaming red lens glowed with a surge of teal before switching back to normality, brief but constant mechanic noises heard coming from inside them... Were they preparing a weapon?

  16. Toiran simply nodded in response to Kaya before looking at the russet canine at his feet. "Time to fight, Nixis," He muttered to her. While the other two animals weren't in sight- the ever-faithful wolf Ariyou and the cobra that had not even been shown yet- he knew full well the two were near. Ready to help their master if he required their aid. The fox blinked up at him.

    "Now go."

    Nixis immediately looked toward the nearest guard knight. Pale blue-white fireballs danced at the tips of her tail and ears, swirling around her before flying at the guard knight. She leaped aside to allow her master to step forward, rather ineffectually whipping at the knight.

    "Tch, change in plans there, eh? I ain't touching one of those," he called out to Kaya, pointing at the guards with the shields. "It'd be pointless you know." He looked at his scythe and the blazing aura around him. Even with his brute strength, he couldn't pierce through that defense unless he conjured up energy like he did to break the gate, but he was still wore out from that. Trying now would most likely land him in an unconscious state and then he couldn't help at all. The shielded guards appeared to be protecting everything that wasn't shielded, and those were the things he was going after. He targeted one of the gunman right in front of him, charging forth and leaping over Nicoro, his blazing aura trailing through the air before he landed with a thud on the floor and lashed out with his scythe to slash the gunner from a range leaving some space for the other melee fighters to get an attack in. "This armor is much better on my poor blade than some damn shield," he said and grinned, running a finger along the sharp edge skillfully and pulled it away without a single cut.

    Hiiro grunted as the guards moved into a defensive position. More annoying than anything, and something Hiiro didn't have the patience for. He ran up beside the guard Knight that had previously been in the center, coming right up to the gunner. Hiiro smiled at the man for a moment, as if elated he would get to attack the man.

    Then, he threw a wicked punch towards the man's stomach.
