Obligatory "What Did You Get?" 2016

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous Conjectures' started by Santa Claus, Dec 26, 2016.

  1. Ho Ho Hello, one and all! Before this ol' Claus can really consider calling it Even-Elven for the holiday season, he has to check his list once or twice and make sure that everyone's received what they've been alloted! One of the greatest questions around the world at this time of year has got to be, "What did you get?", in regards to your gifts received over the holidays, whether celebrating Winter Solstice, Hanukkah, Christmas, or any number of the other lovely celebratory days of the season. So, once again, I figured, "Why not let Saint Nick ask the lovely people of ZEJ- his Secret Santa brigade and all others who are feeling particularly jolly now that the festivities have been said and done bar-hold the New Year -voice what they had received this year, if they are so willing and wanting to?"

So, ZEJ, I ask to you once more...

    What did you get?

As always, nothing fills my heart more than seeing the likes of you, all over this world and others, coming together and feeling that much more familial during the season of giving! Other than that, you might say the Missus has something special prepared for me once I get back home for vacation... That's right - more eggnog, this time in an even more festive mug! Ho Ho!

Well, it's just about time for me to Ho Ho Silver and Gold Away, but before I do...

Merry, merry 2016, ZEJ, and a wonderful 2017 ahead for you all! Make the most of it, my dear friends. I will see you soon.

  2. instead of ho ho'ing Silver and I away why don't you text me back already

Oh boy, i'll go first since I'm... here first! (Starting off with the big representative of ZEJ Nondenominational Winter Cheer, I dig it)

He refuses to accept his fatherly responsibilities (re: me, [tip id=1 content= Flower Caribou has been a thing for 3 years and my ZEJ life is 3 years i mean its the kind of stuff that keeps you up at night]the baby of ZEJ[/tip]) but Jake did make quite the Secret Santa!
    - glow-in-the-dark Mimikyu charm (Pictures to maybe come when it arrives in the mail)
    - A letter, at some point, oooh
    - Risk Of Rain
    - Skullgirls
    - Tabletop Simulator
Meanwhile, Grandpa Zed (out of the goodness of his heart) became the Santa for many a little, shivering ZEJian child. Including this one, ayy, up top!!
    - Shadowrun Returns
    - Shadowrun: Dragonfall
    - Shadowrun: Hong Kong

  3. I'm glad that you liked the gifts, @"Gold Dullahan"! I hope that they brought lots of smiles, and that you are able to partake in many a future ZEJian games night. :)

As for myself, I got quite a few lovely gifts from friends and family alike. The things I got this year were:

    Pillows!
    - Marshmallow Pillow
    - Fancy, dual density pillow
    Money / Gift Cards
    Fondue pot
    Final Fantasy clock (from @"Flamezone")
CDs: The SoundBath, 2 mix CDs, Christmas CD (from @"Jonno")
    Desktop waterfall
    Clothes
    - Plaid dress shirt
    - Plaid comfy shirt
    - A t-shirt that says "I'm the Oldest: I make the rules" (to go along with my sisters getting similarly themed shirts relative to our birth order)
    - Jeans
    - Hokusai's "Great Wave" feat. Wind Waker motifs (from @"Jonno")
"To Pixar and Beyond: My Unlikely Journey with Steve Jobs to Make Entertainment History" by Lawrence Levy
    A Canadian-themed Puzzle
    Fidget rings
    Socks
    - "I gave a fuck once"
    - "DO NOT DISTURB / I AM GAMING"
    USB Game Controller
    Tabletop Simulator (from @"Flimzy")

  4. Seeing @"Gold Dullahan" happy over her gifts from @"Eebit" and @"whitesubtitlesoncanadianwinter" makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. Way to go on being a good dad... for once...! :5 I'm glad you were chuffed over your gifts from ol' Jonno too, Eebear. I couldn't not get you that shirt once I'd seen it - and the SoundBath? Fugeddaboutit (but not after you tell me your thoughts on it :5) - what a classic!

From our good people of ZEJ, I'd received an incredible drawing of all of us ZEJians from Gold/Moon/Poutine Shack that's now the wallpaper on my computer and will soon be hanging as a legitimate piece somewhere in my room! You can check that out in the Secret Santa thread, all said. She also sent me some currently SUPER SECRET Captain and the Plant-Bread files that'll sooner or later be shared with you all... I'd vote for sooner, actually. It's pretty great stuff!

Krista and Eebit sent me the most ridiculously awesome Mountie hat from the official Mountie store so I can get my Royal Canadian Mounted Police on out here in the southwest. These Arizonans won't know what hit 'em! They also sent me a sweet card with a walrus wearing a cap on the front (best card ever) in lieu of the season that really warmed my jolly Jonno jumbies right on up.

I'd get sentimental about everything from my family here, too, but I'm already being called to get up and help out with making dinner, so let's see if I can't get the rest of this churned out really fast, list-style...

    From my mom and dad:
    - A hanging coat rack for added space in my room. Seriously, it's a little cramped in here so that was much appreciated.
    - Those squeezy paper clips (I forget the exact name of them), in gold, that came in handy for decorating!
    - A planner for 2017, with an address book built-in! Super handy, especially given all of my various lines of work.

    From my sister:
    - ALLLLLLLL sorts of clothes, from all shorts of button-ups and pull-overs to a vest and two pairs of awesome shoes. Decking Jonno out in a style that could only be matched by Plant-Bread.
    - A Zelda calendar for my room! Nice way to start off the new year, alright. Sweet.

    From my aunts:
    - A check for $20 which instantly was processed and tossed into the void to try and make up for holiday expenses
    - These cool, paper bird ornaments that are strung up in a row for room decor. Unfortunately they didn't really work in my room so I gave them to my sister to use in her office at work, but they're very appreciated and I like the story about them being made by Vietnamese women on behalf of UNICEF.
    - A $25 Target gift card, which was used for two books: Under a Painted Sky by Stacey Lee and Simply On Music by Haruki Murakami and interviewee Seiji Ozawa

    From my outside-of-ZEJ friends:
    - The Accidentals sent me some of their latest merch in the form of a neat new jacket and beanie!
