Metroid X Star Fox?!?

  1. Many of us know that Retro Studios is developing a game for Nintendo's next console, the Wii U. Here's an interesting rumor for you though... Retro Studio's next game may not be a Metroid game, or a Star Fox game, but a Metroid AND Star Fox game.

    Personally, I'm not quite sure what to make of it. It's very unlikely, to say the least, but on the other hand, it would be freaking awesome if done right. Any thoughts?

  3. Eh... as much as I like the odd crossover here and there, I think this is one rumour that I'll pass up on.

    I wouldn't be super hyped for a Metroid/Star Fox crossover, even though I think both are cool series in their own rights. It seems like Nintendo would be taking the concept of 'SPACELOL' and trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. Star Fox takes place in a system filled with anthropomorphic animals who fly around in the Arwings, whereas Metroid is a more humanoid world with parasites. I don't know, it just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

    I'd really rather the two just be kept separate, really, is what it all boils down to. Metroid's had a string of good titles, but I'd really like to see Retro take the wings on a title that is solely Star Fox, and pump out a good one for that series. Excluding the SF64 remake, the last title that series got was Command, which I personally wasn't a fan of. I'd like to see that sort of kick with a trilogy of Retro-helmed Star Fox titles, a la Metroid Prime. Would make for a fair amount of interest in a reboot of the series.
