Heroes: A Change in Fate

Discussion in 'Interest Checks' started by crazE, Dec 30, 2013.

  1. Amid the cold linoleum and the stench of rubbing alcohol, Amir lifted the curtains of drowsiness to gaze about the room. His lazy hazel stare browsed the white tiled walls before they rested on the window to his right. Despite the tension in his neck screaming for him to remain still, Amir refused to lay idle. His body would have to deal with the burns.

Outside, he could see the rain pour over the window like mesmerizing waves rippling down the glass. It felt good to look at it, he thought. Although it felt enticing to drift back into a painless slumber, Amir couldn't close his eyes anymore.

The door to his room slid open as men with shaded stares and suede suits surrounded his bed. One in particular followed in last as they formed a semicircle around Amir. The boyish man wore a navy blue suit with unkept hair and a little smirk; he was much more casually inclined than the hardened guards that had filled up the small space. He stopped at the foot of Amir's bed, both their gazes touching for the longest time as the man seemed to marvel at Amir's current state.

"So," he spoke with his smug smile, "You survived."

Amir kept his gaze locked to the man's not speaking a word. His breath started becoming labored.

The man chuckled quite softly. "Well," he looked down at the clipboard at the foot of the bed while leaning on the bed's edge, "We can't have that, can we Amir?"

"You..." Amir suddenly spoke, his raspy voice slicing the tension. "You... took everything... from me..."

"Oh, yes," he replied, standing erect once again and locking eyes once more. "You know very well why. You sacrificed your job for the company and you're paying the price you KNEW would have to be payed for something like this."

The blue-suede man took a leisurely stroll around the edge of the bed, walking up the right of Amir. "So really, the only thing you should be contemplating here is your incompetence."

"I have," Amir responded, although coughing just after. After maintaining himself, he pulled his glazing gaze back to the blonde with the casual smirk. "I figured... living isn't worth killing for. That's... something you'll never learn."

The man's emerald eyes darkened. Looking to one of the burly men to his left, a signal seemed to be given by a simple glance. The man turned and shut the door slowly to prevent conspicuous behavior.

Looking back down at Amir, the young man leaned down slowly until his mouth was just inches from Amir's ear.

"You could never comprehend what true power is, Amir," he whispered, "and that's why you never valued your life. Because now your life no longer has any value at all."

Lifting his head back up, he turned quickly and strolled toward the door. The men in suits deftly followed in the similar orderly state as they entered. Opening the drab wooden door, they proceeded from the room to the hallway and to the stairs, since the hospital lacked an elevator.

Inside the room, Amir turned his head slowly to gaze out the window once more. his black irises blinked once as he admired the beauty of the rain. Then, in moments, his eyes glazed over as his bandaged body lay limp. With a tiny metal ting, a thin needle struck the cold linoleum floor and rolled under the bed. A small string of blood marked its trail.

    -----------------------------------------
Sorry for the long intro, but this is the introduction to my Freeform Concept based on the old popular TV Show, Heroes. Essentially, it's like X-men but more down-low: there are people in this world who try to live a normal life with abnormal capabilities. Although the existence of superhumans has been rumored, it has never been public. However, they ARE known. An organization run by a corrupted group of highly wealthy individuals seek to acquire these superhumans and uncover the secrets of their abilities. Their goal in mind is what any other "normal" would want: to become more.

Many of you know that I created this very thing waaaay back when and I'm here to tell you that it's going to be different, but not as different that it will feel completely alien. Coming this far in life experience, this roleplay has been revamped from its prepubescent clusterf*** to a matured and developed plotline.

The format will be the same as before: There will be multiple scenes at a time, as I recall that superhuman people wouldn't just conveniently know each other (it's not the justice league). Luckily, we have spoilers so scenes can be separate!

This roleplay take place on good ol' earth with good ol' countries in the good ol' 21st century. I figure since we're in the now, we're starting this in the... well, now.

What would you character know in this world? Well, your character may or may not know that superhumans like themselves are being kidnapped, manipulated or murdered at the hands of what appears to be a hidden government group. You character may or may not know that they are in danger. Your character may or may not know that Giga is bald. But the last one doesn't matter.

Purpose? I just want to have a good ol' freeform experience with the peeps here. It's going to be a fun adventure for everyone and can be a time to kick back and actually make something development-wise. It can also be a time to test your skills of roleplaying, like whether or not you can truly get in-depth into your character and test yourself as a writer and empathist.

Just as a note: This roleplay WILL have a direction. I know that my old one was basically everyone just trying to figure stuff out after a huge event, but things will be more directional and clear now. That does not disclose creativity, venturing from the original plot at hand, or any other form of inspiration, however. This RP reflects on real life and real life decisions based on fictional situations. SO, if this gets enough interest, we can have a go at some great development and, in the end, a great story to cherish and save!

  2. Ohohoho! I've always liked the TV show, and I'm glad that there's someone willing to turn it into a roleplay! I'm most definitely interested in this (especially being that it's freeform yay), so I'll play if you'll have me~ o3o

  3. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE:

Despite the fact that we're taking the concept from the Heroes TV Show, this will not be running parallel to the TV Show's plotline. Things are going to be different, including a whole different organization and a completely different set of characters. No TV Show characters will appear, no cross-overs, nothing having to do with the show. I do this because it sets a completely new playing ground for my plotline and for what I intend to have. It also sets a personalized atmosphere for anyone who wishes to join.

Also, Gist, if you plan on joining, I'm expecting real interaction. Not just "oooh so turned on resist tempts hnnnng" kind of crap. Your characters will be as real as they possibly can character-wise or they will not fit into this roleplay.

On the subject of real, another note to be given is how your abilities will play out. In the Heroes universe, everything is solved by the mysteries of the mind and the genetic makeup of the body. SO, in effect, no abilities run on "magic" or "mana." They must be biological products/byproducts or any form of scientific implants etc. Paranormal-based abilities are allowed.

I'll probably put up the signup thread soon enough, considering it's a "join anytime" roleplay. Because of how open and real it is, your character technically already exists in this world. So the only thing is to have them run into the plotline in some way. ON THAT NOTE: If you want your character to have special interactions or special plot interaction, you may suggest it. THIS IS FOR EVERYONE, AND LIFE DOES NOT REVOLVE AROUND CERTAIN PEOPLE'S CHARACTERS. So, that being said, my characters shouldn't always be getting some form of spotlight or most of the plot's importance. If you have an idea to give a plot for your characters that will thicken the roleplay soup, please by all means!

  4. I'll do my best to partake in this. A Superhero RP is something I've been itching to try for a while at ZEJ, and this could be the plot ZEJ deserves. Could we perhaps use the power generator to get our powers? Makes it a bit more interesting: you have to take what you get and make it into something brilliant yourself. A test of skill and creativity!

  5. Considering the old version of this was one of my favorite Acan RPs, you know I'm in if I can make the time.

  6. Using the Superpower Wikia's Random Page is optional, but not required. I'd say that is a great deal of fun, especially since it would test the user in terms of creativity. If you do use the Random Page generator, please provide the link in your profile to me.

Alrighty then, I may as well begin with a profile thread!
