[Freeform] Pokemorph: Hiding for Life

Discussion in 'Interest Checks' started by Elegante, Nov 9, 2013.

  1. A recent infection within the Pokemon world has caused a drastic change in the biochemistry of the world. Pokemon and humans, in rare cases, were becoming one. The cause of this was unknown, and a cure was in production. People afflicted by the disease became known as Pokemorphs and people found a way to live with them while the cure was in production. However, a group of radicals became hell-bent on keeping every human, Poke-morphed or not, alive and embracing them in their current state. In the process, they destroyed the lab that was producing the cure, along with any scrap of research of the cure or of Pokemorphs.

Now, in the time of greatest struggles for Pokemorphs readjusting to human society, a new group of radicals have convinced the human populace to exterminate all Pokemorphs. Seeing these Pokemorphs as a scar upon the fabric of humanity, they hunt each Pokemorph to extinction. Communities that had been formed for the Morphs have been burned and ransacked already. Few Morphs have escaped these hunts, and are constantly on the run from their hunters.

Few cities accept Pokemorphs. Even fewer stores and businesses. Many signs proclaim “NO POKEMORPHS!” or “POKEMORPHS MUST REMAIN OUTSIDE!” Cities that do tolerate Pokemorphs have placed them in their own zone of the city. Smaller cities have been zoned off as Pokemorph only, though many are returning to a human habitat with the hunting of the Morphs.

    What is a Pokemorph?
A Pokemorph is a morph between a human and a Pokemon. The human still has their human qualities, in some cases being more human and in others being more Pokemon. Pokemorphs can talk like a human, and they can understand the human language, as well as understanding Pokemon speech. These Pokemorphs have a higher mental capability than humans, but less mental capability of Pokemon. Moves the Pokemon knew are accessible to the Morph, but are weaker than if used by the original Pokemon. In addition, the Morph knows 6 moves to the limit of 4 a Pokemon may know.

    Setting?
This Roleplay will take place in the Region of Johto. Cianwood City, New Bark Town, and Violet City have been sanctioned off as Pokemorph only cities. Blackthorn City, Goldenrod City, and Olivine City reject all Pokemorphs. Mahogany Town and Azalea Town have zoned areas for Pokemorphs.

    -----------

So, this is the rough idea I have had. This is sort of reviving my previous attempt at a gijinka roleplay I had awhile back that never got off the ground because I am a failure.

    Interest? Questions? Comments?

  2. I'm definitely interested in this idea a lot =)

Will we be able to choose to be a trainer or pokemorph hunter? And will the pokemorphs have their pokemons abilities and type resistences/weaknesses?

  3. [IMG]
    (yes im kind of interested)

  4. I believe we can implement Hunters. The RP is aimed more towards the Morphs themselves, so the Hunters may have to be limited.

As for Abilities and the Type Match-ups: I think abilities should be more similar to the Moves and be weaker, or maybe have a more humanized effect. Type match-ups are something I haven't thought about, but I will ponder this and update.

i didn't know what the image had to do with it. but after i quoted, i saw the interest comment.

    thanks frost and cid~

  5. I'm interested in this.

However, this is just a personal thing of mine, but I kinda dislike the limit of available moves in a freeform Pokemon roleplay. My interest would remain even if the limit were kept, but I just kinda wanted to voice my opinion there. I will say, however, that it would probably be good to limit the moves learnable by TMs in this setting.

  6. So like. I really don't see many others here being interested in this... I just figured I'd ask if you'd be starting it soon. I hate to be impatient and all, but ZEJ needs a bit more activity. ^^
    (Sorry for double post)

  7. No problem, Nate. I appreciate the bump, as Frost has been asking the same thing, lol.

As for when I'll be starting: I am attempting to iron a few details out with myself before the SU/OOC goes up.
