Fragments of the Deadly Sins [Profile Thread]

Discussion in 'Out of Character Discussion' started by Keileon, May 7, 2013.

First beware Pride, lest belief in one's might
Has you discount the foe who is braving your sight.

"We can take over Hell itself."

Never Envy other men in wealth, power, or home
For dark plots and plans will bring death to your own.

"This place of eternal punishment can, rather, become a utopia for all of us..."

Defer not to Wrath, when your first tactics fail
Anger kills cunning, which you will need to prevail.

"I just need one thing: your cooperation."

All men must rest, but Sloth you should dread
Else long years of napping let assassins to your bed.

"There's a reason they keep us separated down here, separated by the sins that landed us here in the first place. They don't want us mixing."

"Greed is good," or so foolish men say
Until piles of wealth bring killing thieves where they lay.

"Have you ever wondered why that is?"

Hungry is your body, and at times you must feed
But indulging in Gluttony sows a cumbersome seed.

"I've found them out. Collecting the fragments of the Seven Deadly Sins... that's our chance at claiming this place as our own."

A hot Lust for glory, power, gold, or mates
Leads reckless young men to the blackest of fates.

"And this is why I must ask for your cooperation. I'm only gathering a few of you, but don't worry...

... You're all so very useful to me."

  2. Name:Veirula “Passionblade” Ethra
    Gender: Female
    Age of Death: 19
    Embodied Sin: Lust

    Appearance:
Veirula was once a slim and beautiful  grey fox/fennec mix. Her gray
fur was soft to the touch, and was often perfectly trimmed due to her
status as a noble. She was most commonly seen wearing a form-fitting
purple robe with a hood that covered her face, giving her an air of
mystery. However, her most prominent features are her massive ears,
that carried on in her appearance even through death.

    In death Veirula
is a thin bony figure, her flesh rotted along half her face and
torso, leaving exposed skull and ribs along the left side of her
body, which also harbors her last pearlescent violet eye. The right
side of her body retains flesh, but does not have an eye, only a
    gaping black socket.

    Personality:
Veirula is completely insane. She is a murderer, torturer and above
all, a Necrophiliac. On top of that, her bisexuality gave her
literally no bias on who to kill, and use for her twisted purposes.
In addition, she often speaks in rhymes or poetry when her mind is at
its deepest moments, often recollecting past
    events.

    Equipment: Tattered Purple Robe. Kriss-knife.
    Inkpen and Notebook.

    Background:
Born in the early 1600's, Veirula was princess to the throne in Yorefright. She lived in castle Ebonblood, which was nested high in the Still Plains, the grass below grows a deep crimson after many men and women lost their lives.

Inside the castle, the Ethra family resides. A family of gray foxes bearing noble blood. Due to a war of succession, they had inherited the castle and lived there for many generations, remaining true to ancient customs that lasted nearly 500 years. It was a community like any other, with the highest ranking living closest to the castle, and the peasants down in the fields.

Veriula is not pure blooded. Her bloodline traces back many generations back to a nameless fennec, the traits of which are seen as a recurring curse to the family's purity. Veirula has been the only descendant to have fennec traits in over 4 generations.

Veirula was always known to keep a journal, most of its contents were detailed notes on experiments and thoughts of feverish love to her mate – a simple farmgirl living to the south of the keep. However, as she went further down her path of self-destruction, it became a diary of her hatred towards her father, and detailed plans of murder and lust.

Veirula's apparent sexuality was never accepted in her family, and only seemed to strengthen the rumours that she was tainted, or possessed. She was caught many times in the courtyard with farmgirl Italea. Italea was a thin orange fox and the only person Veirula ever truly loved. However, as most royal families go, her parents had arranged a marriage for Veirula, and had no intentions of having Veirula sneak away with a peasant girl.

On the day of the wedding, Veirula was nowhere to be seen. It was later discovered she had sneaked down her window at night to run away with Italea. It wasn't long before the guards were summoned and ordered to find and arrest them both. At the end of the night, Veirula was forced to marry and forbidden from seeing Italea ever again. This is where the insanity began.

After nearly a week after marriage Veirula was bombarded by stress, not being able to live knowing she'd never see Italea ever again. After three months of careful planning Veirula managed to single letter to Italea's home. One week passed, though to Veirula is seemed to take years. Finally the letter arrived, sealed in black was with the symbol of a crow – the family was in mourning.

During the year 1633, a terrible disease known as “The Black Frost” plagued the lower portion of Yorefright, eventually spreading to the still plains, nearly wiping the gray-fox species extinct, resulting in rumors of torture and death about the royal family. However it was this disease that Italea had succumbed to. The letter explained that she had died 8 days earlier, and never received the letter. Now, Veirula's hatred for her family was only rivaled by the drive to find cures for illnesses by any means necessary, as a means to avenge her lover's death.

So it began, Veirula first killed her chambermaid, assuming that using another red fox would get her closer to discovering how illnesses effect the red fox species.

Eventually, the need to find out biological mysteries and faculties consumed her, and she began setting up a list of discoveries. However, when the chambermaids corpse began to rot, it was evident to Veirula that is should be replaced, and she needed another subject.

After disposing of the body via burning it in the oven in the basement,Veirula's hatred of her family dictated her next actions. She murdered her two younger brothers, curious about how different ailments and antidotes would effect twins. As the days passed, Veirula's parents questioned her about her brothers, and why her chambermaid hadn't been seen in over a week. Veirula often doged the question, saying that she'd been too busy with her husband to notice they'd been missing.

A fortnight passed, and her parents awoke to screams of suffering and torment that echoed through the castle. They sent guards into the prince's room only to see Veirula laughing hysterically as she butchered him, both laying naked on bloodied sheets as he died in humiliation due to multiple stabs and genital mutilation. Veirula was immediately seized and her execution was scheduled, and she was officially deemed demonized and possessed.

It was then that Veirula called herself, the 'Passionblade'. Her father locked her in the basement as she awaited execution, give meager amounts of food and water.

Strangely, her father never received the executioner's letter, even after waiting a fortnight. Worse still, the royal family had discovered a tunnel leading through the bricks of the basement and into the streets of the city. After a few days of investigation, it seemed that Passionblade left the basement only at night find another victim – slash their throat and rape them while they uttered their last breaths. Having sex for the pure pleasure and empowerment that came with having the victim become deceased in precise timing of when Passionblade was finished with them. She would them bring them back into the basement where she would either continue her defilement with more sexual desires, or simply experiment more before she had to dispose of the body.

The princess' father knew something had to be done. He stopped bringing her provisions and ceased all contact with her. Her room was resealed as passionblade was left with nothing to do but rot away in her cell, starving to death.

5 more months passed and she still hadn't died, preserving herself on the remains of her subjects and drinking from runoff leaks from the sewer pipe that came through the cobblestone. Eventually, her father could wait no longer for her to die simply. He made his way down to the basement with naught but a small flint-lock pistol. It was a quick event – a single shit rang out through the corridors of the castle, followed by a deathly silence – Veirula 'Passionblade' Ethra, was no more...
Existance: Long ago, in the beginning of time, strange beings landed on earth after thier home planet was consumed by a sun that had expanded, engulfing the remainder of their solar system. However as they landed on earth they were seen coming down from the clouds, and it was obvious they were far superior. The Egyptians worshiped them as gods, and soon, other cultures followed suit.

However, at the rise of Christianity and other more civilized religions, their species was forced to run, and go into the most remote parts of the earth, taking into more primitive styles of living, much like Veirula's family.

  3. Name: Unzen Ushitora
    Gender: Male
    Age of Death: 35
    Embodied Sin: Wrath

Appearance: Unzen is an unusually bulky man at a height of 8'9". A permanent scowl is present on his face, and a glare in his red eyes. Messy, black hair flows from the top of his head down to his mid-back. His skin is light pigmented, although there is a tint of red within in. His clothing consists of a black, sleeveless jacket, dark orange tiger-skin pants, and black boots. (On multiple occasions, he was mistaken as an oni.)

Now residing in the depths of Hell, most of Unzen's body is covered by third and fourth degree burns. Such a burn surrounds his left eye, now a gaping hole leading to an iridescent red glow. Several strains of his black hair have curled upward, forming horn-like structures.
Personality: There is one word that perfectly describe Unzen: violent. Driven by anger, he is impatient, destructive, vindictive, and overall unpredictabe. And even his self-caused death has not changed that.

Equipment: Unzen's main choice of weapons are two medium-sized kanabō made entirely of iron.

    Background:
Unzen had the displeasure of being born in Nagasaki in November 1755. During this time, Japan's isolation policy, Sakoku, was still in effect. Foreingers could not enter the country, and Japanese- like himself- could not leave. All that was learned of Western technology and medicine was learned through the Dutch. Beyond this, he learned very little of the outside world. For several years, he lived a relatively normal life...

In the spring of 1777, Unzen met an enigmatic man named Iatagalas. Upon sight of Unzen, the man challenged him to a fight. The fight that followed lasted only a few minutes, ending with Unzen being defeated. Iatagalas then informed Unzen that he simply was not strong enough to defeat him in combat, and coldly remarked that he could never become strong enough. Unzen was angered by this, and immediately demanded a rematch. At first, Iatagalas refused, saying that he hadn't the time to do so. But after a few minutes of arguing, he changed his mind. However, he said that he'd return during the next season for the rematch. He also instructed Unzen to attempt to become stronger, and then left the man alone. For the next three months, Unzen trained as much as he could while leaving time for his job as a fisherman. Then in the summer, Iatagalas returned for the rematch. However, despite his training, Unzen was defeated once again. Iatagalas remarked on how Unzen wasn't any stronger than before. Once again, Unzen angrily demanded a rematch. Once again, Iatagalas said he would return the next season to fight him again. From that point, a fourteen-year cycle began. Unzen would train until the next season, where he would once again fight Iatagalas. He would then be easily defeated, and he would angrily demand a rematch. And Iatagalas would disappear, only to return the next season. By the summer of 1788, he had become an unusually bulky man as the result of his training. And throughout the years, he slowly became filled with rage as he was defeated again and again. And sometimes, his rage became prominent in spars...

Once again, Unzen was defeated by Iatagalas in the spring of 1791. Once again, Unzen demanded a rematch with the man. Once again, he said he would fight him again the next season. However, this time he said he would fight him somewhere else. He also said he would reveal the location of their next fight about a month prior to the time they would fight. Unzen then impatiencely awaited that time, once again spending the time training. During this time, he aslo obtained a pair of kanabō for insurance. Then near the end of May, Unzen was delivered a letter via crow. The letter contained a map revealing the location of their next fight: a secluded location in Holland. Their fight would take him out of Japan and into the Netherlands (known at the time as the Republic of the Seven United Netherlands), which would be an illegal action because of Sakoku. Despite this, Unzen snuck aboard a Dutch trade ship preparing to sail back.

Unzen arrived at the location, where Iatagalas- surrounded by a murder of crows- was waiting. With a frown on his face, Iatagalas looked directly into Unzen's eyes and stared that this fight would most likely be their last. Soon, the following battle seemingly turned into a one-sided fight in Iatagalas's favor. However, using one of his two kanabō, Unzen managed to break Iatagalas's left arm. Despite this, Iatagalas disarmed Unzen and used his own kanabō against him, once again defeating him. Iatagalas then dropped the kanabō next to Unzen's unconscious body and left without saying a word. It was to be that the two of them would never meet again after this...
During the next five days, there were a series of incidents in the Dutch Republic in which several towns and villages were nearly destroyed, and several people brutally murdered. The survivors of these incidents described what seemed to be an unstoppable monster passing through the town, indiscriminately murdering people for absolutely no reason while destroying building and other structures. A few weeks after this, there were several reports of a ship sailing from the Dutch Republic to Japan having sunk off the coast of China. The cause of the sinking of the ship was argued for several days. But the cause became clear when in early August, two unconscious survivors washed upon the shores of Dejima: Unzen and Iatagalas. One of the Dutch survivors explained that it was Unzen who destroyed the ship trying to attack Iatagalas, and the same person who attacked the Dutch. It was then that it was clear the two of them were Japanese people who had left the country. A nearby Chinese merchant then exposed Iatagalas as thief who stole gunpowder from their country and smuggled it into Japan (specifically, a secluded location west of Mount Unzen). The two of them were then taken to Shimabara, where they were to be executed in six days.

Five days later, Unzen awoke to find himself being held prison in Shimbara Town. To his surprise, there was a familiar face with him: Iatagalas. Unzen angrily demanded a rematch from him, only to be refused. Iatagalas stated that neither of them were in any condition to fight, and in their position, there would be no point in fighting. He then explained that because of their crimes, the two of them would be executed the next day. Unzen didn't care about this, and once again demanded a rematch. Iatagalas refused once again, then tried to explain the situation again. But Unzen interrupted him, calling Iatagalas a "cowardly crow" for refusing his demand for a rematch before repeating his demand. It was then that Iatagalas told him that he wasn't interested in fighting what Unzen had become: an "oni". Unzen refused to believe what Iatagalas had just said, attempting to argue otherwise. Though at that point, Iatagalas didn't say anything else to him. During the next nine hours, Unzen angrily shouted at Iatagalas, hoping anything he said would eventually get his attention. When that failed, Unzen attempted to kill Iatagalas. Once again, his attempt failed. However, this got the attention of the Matsudaira clan, who declared him too dangerous to hold him in Shimabara, and was to be moved to a village west of Mount Unzen, where he would be executed. He was escorted out the town several hours later.

The next day, Unzen found himself along the eastern flank of the Mayu-yama dome of Mount Unzen. For a majority of the trip, the escort was followed overhead by a murder of crows, which only Unzen seemed to noticed. Unzen angrily stared at the crows until mid-afternoon, when the murder suddenly dispersed. Upon sight of this, he then remembered what Iatagalas had said to him the day before. Iatagalas's execution had come and gone, and the man had been slain. He then cursed the man in a roar-like sound, catching the attention of the escort team, who then tried to detain the enraged man. Despite their efforts, he broke free of the escort, brutally killing everyone in sight before running westward. Three days later, he reached the western flank of Mount Unzen. He spotted a village in the area, immediately charging toward it on sight. Within hours, the village was set ablaze as Unzen rampaged through it. Everything in the viallge that breathed was either brutally killed by Unzen or burned alive. Unzen's rampage continued for months, destroying many villages and killing many people, including those who tried to stop him.

Finally, in late November, he discovered a cave within the western Flank of Mount Unzen filled with barrels of gunpowder. He stayed there for several weeks, killing anyone who dared to enter the cave. One day, a murder of crows entered the cave, perching upon the barrels. Unzen believed they were the same crows that had followed him across Mount Unzen, and attempted to kill them too in a reckless act. He set the barrels of gunpowder on fire, resulting in a massive explosion that killed the crows. However, the resulting explosion also killed Unzen in the process. (His death couldn't have been anymore horribly timed or placed. In the following months, there were a series of earthquakes leading from the location of his death to Fugen-dake, and then toward the city of Shimabara.)

  4. Finally got to posting my profile here. Very excited to see this come to fruition.

    Gender: Male
    Age of Death: 96
    Embodied Sin: Sloth

Appearance: Richter appears as an extremely elder, underweight Caucasian male with sunken, deep-ridden wrinkles abound and sullen green eyes with black bags under his eyes, apparently due to lack of sleep from his point of view. He's almost entirely bald, save for patches his light gray sideburns and a fully intact Handlebar mustache which he precariously keeps combed despite appearing so outwardly lazy, and is dressed in a fine-pressed traditional black and white suit, like something Sinatra might've worn, with a black bow tie and a black fedora with a primarily burgundy, white-seamed band to match. He also carries a finely crafted cherry wood cane around, which has a silver knob attached to it, designed in the style of an eagle's head.

Personality: As the spacial laws of irony so orders it to be, Richter is an incredibly intelligent yet entirely lethargic fellow. He may very well be the brainiest of the bunch, though he makes it clear that he would much rather sleep than do his job. Begrudgingly so, however, when times really call for him to assist the others, he will earnestly do so before falling back into a sweet daze, hobbled up against his cane, sometimes even sleeping while standing up. He's a slow mover when he wants to be, though he is capable of so much more than he will likely ever be aware of.

Equipment: Richter's primary piece of equipment comes in the form of his cane, which he has found can perform any number of off-kilter techniques. For one, it doubles as a handy knife if he presses down upon its knob, revealing the tip of a sharp steel blade on its bottom half. Otherwise, depending on how he messes with the knob, his cane will do one thing or another. If he twists it left or right, it will extend a long metal rod outwards in whichever direction he has indicated, which is useful for tripping incoming foes over themselves. Albeit more-so for recreational purposes above anything else, he may also twist his knob both directions quickly to have both rods remain in-place until he pushes them in with his feet, allowing for a comfortable place to relax his feet, or, should he press down on the knob while the rods are out to reveal a squishy jumping pad which juts from out of the bottom tip of the cane, an unorthodox pogo stick for the few times he is actually feeling outgoing.

His hat's fibers are made out of the strongest materials in all of the land and actually act as his defense mechanism. Lifting it from off of his head can allow it to act as a new version of the traditional shield, or he could keep it on top of his head to help shield him from the sun's radioactive rays like any other good hat might. On top of that, he can toss his hat outward and have it spin about ten feet in any direction before coming back to him, acting much like a sharpened boomerang: the perfect offensive/defensive hybrid weapon for the increasingly lazy.

Background: As a young man, Richter was the highest achieving student in his class and graduated with top honors, having even graduated with a Master's Degree from the California Institute of Technology in Physics at the age of 22 in 1934, when it wasn't even necessarily a necessity to do such a thing to receive a secure job with proper pay. It was needless to be said that Richter wanted more from his life, and he did during his earlier years, having been wed to his wife, Marina, at the age of 28 and having his first and only child, Thomas, the following year, all the while advancing further and further along the path of the advancement of modern physics alongside several other scientists who would pave the way towards the 21st century very eagerly for decades upon decades. For better or for worse, Richter would even have a hand in the development of the atomic bomb around the late 1930s, and had a part in its unveiling to President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

It was later in his life, around the mid-1960s, when Richter would begin to change. For whatever reason, he would begin having terrible sleeping habits which later affected his mental stability. Having not been able to be diagnosed with any concrete cause by doctors at the time, his wife had assumed it was something to do with adverse effects of the atomic bomb and had decided to stick by his side all the way until her own death six years before Richter himself would perish. By this time, Thomas was out in Kingston upon Hull, spending time with his own wife whom he had met during an exchange program. Richter, however, couldn't bring himself to truly care about where his son was. He'd never answer his calls, and he'd hardly ever eat or drink a thing on top of that. Depression due to his wife's death paired with his own adverse, unexplained behavior and love of sleep eventually saw him to his grave at the age of 96 years old of "unexplained causes".
