Final Fantasy

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous Conjectures' started by nintendofanboy, Aug 22, 2012.

  1. I'm not much of a Final Fantasy fan. But I still watch comercials of it. I haven't played any parts of the game. Mostly 'cause my parents are too over protective and never let me play games that are rated T and involve blood in it. You guys probably know where to get a Final Fantasy ISO for the ePSXe.

  2. Well it depends on which Final Fantasy game you are wanting to play. Theres 13 main titles, 3 games have direct sequels and then 7 has 2 prequels a sequel and a movie.

If you know which one in particular you want to play I can help you find a rom for it.

  3. If you're looking for one for the PlayStation 1, I'd definitely recommend Final Fantasy IX by far and away. It doesn't try too hard to be realistic (ahem FF8), and I just never personally found all of what everyone loved about FFVII. Personal choice for me states that you should give FFIX a go. There are just so many plots and subplots that make it fantastic, and the graphics and cutscenes are all done gorgeously.

Alternatively, if you're looking to play one of the 2D ones, I'd suggest getting Final Fantasy Anthologies for PSX as well - comes with the translated copy of FFV and FFVI, which are definitely two of the better games in the series (though FFV is not held in quite as high an esteem as VI is).

  4. My favorites in the main series are and probably forever will remain the SNES classics, in all of their ported and remade forms as well- Final Fantasy IV, V, and VI. IV was my first actual foray into the series and, maybe it's nostalgia talking halfway, but still, it holds up to this very day as an amazing role-playing game that doesn't "try too hard" in any idea of that saying, with an amazing story filled with treachery and retribution. It's very much a great first step into the series. V is pretty underrated, and VI is probably one of the better-known titles in the series that isn't overrated much. They're all great games with a fantastic cast of characters that really allow the whole story to come to life. In fact, more or less, every Final Fantasy (with the exception of those horrible online extravaganzas that just were - not - executed well in any way) I've seen gameplay of or have played all follow that basic rule more or less. Sure, there's some games that excel over others in the series, but as it stands, they're all worth playing at least once, because everyone in the world has their own little niche, and only little game in the series that they enjoy more than the rest, whether it be for the gameplay, the story, the cast, the musical score, graphics or anything else.

But yeah, IX for the PSX titles, I agree. Also, maybe look into Final Fantasy Tactics while you're checking out PSX ISO's (mayhaps with Zantok helping you out?), since that's a very, very good spin-off series, more in-line to be described as an isometric Fire Emblem. Kinda like Tactics Ogre- another great series which spins-off of Ogre Battle, a real-time strategy series that's worth your time if you're into those kinds of games.

For easy emulation, I say start off with Final Fantasy IV. You have three options- the PSP version, which is an Anniversary edition that also contains a prequel and sequel to the series (the sequel is also on WiiWare, Final Fantasy IV: The After Years), the GBA version, the DS version (which is modeled in 3D, and considered to be the hardest remake of the game of all of 'em), or the original SNES version. All good options.

  5. 7 words and one alphanumeric 'word':

FINAL FANTASY TACTICS A2: GRIMOIRE OF THE RIFT.

Albeit a DS game. Though DeSmuME easily available non?!?!?
