Ender's Game.... The Movie?

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous Conjectures' started by Lord X-Giga-X, May 31, 2013.

  1. In case you're wondering, yes. We're still in that phase where filmmakers think it's a great idea to make movies based off of books. So far, we've had some good movies and some bad movies spawn from this. Can't really name any off the top of my head, but this topic isn't a discussion of all of these movies. Nope, it's a discussion of one I saw the trailer for when going to see Star Trek Into Darkness. And as someone who has read this book before....

I.... really don't know what to think of this. o_o
Maybe it's because I haven't read the book in so long and I've forgotten a lot about it, but yeah...

    Ender's Game.

  2. I've been excited for this movie since I first found out about it a year or so ago. Obviously they have to change somethings but I'm cautiously optimistic. The only thing I'm really unsure about is Mazer Rackham's face. Who in the fuck decided that was a good idea?

  3. I read Enders Game quite a while ago. Can't really remember much about it though. Perhaps I will go back and read it again.

  4. The thing I'm most curious about is how they treat the character Bean since in another book it was revealed that Bean did a lot of things behind the scenes that explains why things happened the way they did in Ender's Game. I think that book was called Ender's Shadow? So if you're looking to read through Ender's Game before the movie comes out I recommened Ender's Shadow as well.

  5. Yeah, I think I'll go read the entire series again. They were nice books, although I forget how many of them there were. Order is kinda fucked-up though.

  6. I wouldn't say so much the order is fucked up. It's really two series interconnected. The "Shadow" series featuring Bean as the main and the "Ender" series featuring, well, Ender. I doubt they'll do all the books as movies but we'll see.

  7. Back when I actually was reading books from the series, I remember there only being seven at the time. Now, I'm just amazed how many books there are... Like 14 (?) and more coming? Geez...

Yeah, the best idea now would definitely be to refresh on Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow. As I'll get to soon enough.

  8. Did anyone end up seeing this movie? And if so, is it worth seeing? My dad read the books and I was wondering if I should go look to buy it when it comes out on DVD (or go in and watch if it somehow happens to be playing still).
