Durasken Uprising ~ Secret of the High Circle -RP-

Discussion in 'Roleplay Archives' started by Keileon, Sep 27, 2011.

  1. "Meet me at the edge of the forest outside of town."

Jayden had been saying this a lot for the past few hours. He'd mostly been met with a raised eyebrow or a shake of the head, but there had been a few that seemed to take the admittedly young archer seriously. So there the boy stood, leaning against a tree near the path that led into Kurasa Forest, waiting for whoever was going to show up. He had a small backpack by his feet, containing a few items he'd managed to get his hands on, as well as a small amount of Durasken gold.

He tilted his head back, closing his eyes and listening to the wind. Again, he wondered how many would respond to his "summons", and how many of that group would take him seriously even then. Holding his wooden bow tightly, he considered the path he was about to take; this would likely end with an assassination attempt. Sure, there was a chance it could be resolved without going that far- but he'd still have to explain to the others the situation, which he had not done when "recruiting". Jayden had to smirk slightly when he wondered how they would react. Shock? Disgust? Apathy?

    Eagerness?

    Breathing deeply, he waited.

    -------------

(So yeah, we're starting this with some roleplaying. It should end up with everyone gathering where Jayden is, and then we really begin.
Also, updating inventory with the stuff Jayden has.)

  2. It was a rather strange encounter. A boy, obviously younger than herself, approached her and asked the strangest question. After a moments thought, she remember a very important detail and before she even knew it, she had accepted the request to meet.

Nita Ataie was now on her way to that very rendezvous. It seemed a little bizarre and she almost decided against it. It was the thought of getting back at those high-and-mighty Gold Star paladins that kept her moving ahead. If she could wipe the "I'm-above-all" look from just one of them...

She spotted that same boy leaning against a tree, apparently lost in thought. The way the boy had acted before it was obvious he had been asking more than just herself, but it appeared to just be the two... for now at least. It made sense, she told herself. Who would be so idiotic as to come to some random meeting with a delusional boy? She imagined the High Paladin quivering in fear... I think it's worth at least a meeting.

She moved in and leaned up against a tree opposite from the boy. "Whenever you're ready."

  3. "The edge of Kurasa Forest, huh?"

The voice of a young female resonated throughout the nearly-deserted path, announcing her presence at the summoning the strange Archer had made--and she had unfortunately picked up. Rineai was a quite skilled spellcaster in the arts of magical protection, receiving the title of "Barrier Master" merely at the early age of thirteen. Her potential was widely appraised by her mentors at the Magical Academy she studied, and her reputation was as equally great. For that very reason, Rineai left her homeworld in a trip to acquire arcane knowledge she knew that existed, but had been forgotten or locked away by ancient generations. Her travels had lead her to Euthora, the region of Durasken, where she heard him repeat the words her uncontainable curiosity would feed from.

And there she was, an imperishable light smile pasted on her expression, as she casually strolled down the path that lead to Kurasa Forest, adorned scarf dancing at the rhythm of the wind along with strands of silvery, straight hair. Her eyes were an extremely vivid pink, ones belonging to a cheerful and almost overwhelmingly energetic girl. Rineai's attention diverged in admiring the natural scenery for a brief moment before turning to the boy.

    "Here I am, then~"

  4. The Florist Mirani Flore walked through the trees carefully, watching her steps so as to not trip on any sort of roots, rocks, lumps of dirt, or the like. She hopped up on a fallen log that was in her path, her white, seemingly purplish hair flopping around as she stepped down off of it, batting the small pouch attached to her waist. Inside that pouch was a good three or four dozen white rose seeds, which she could easily replenish if need be. The ruffles of her white and dark burgundy-violet dress made a muted ruffling sound as they brushed against the trees. As she walked, she passed by a dead tree, where she stopped for a moment.

Putting an open right hand on the standing dead wood, she closed her eyes. A moment later, a leaf could be seen on one of the branches, green as one from a new sprout. In seemingly no time, the tree was once again in its previous glory, standing with the others in a tall, proud stance. "Feeling better?" she asked, directing her question at the silent tree, "If I could get rid of the termites, I would. You should be okay for a while, though."

Continuing on, she started to have thoughts about what had happened earlier that day. Just a few hours before, a strange boy had approached her, telling her simply to meet him on the edge of the forest. He had a strange look on his face as he went around. Mirani could not tell exactly what he was feeling, but she felt drawn to listen to him, as if destiny drew her to his rendezvous. Stopping for a moment, she sighed, then continued.

Mirani felt relieved when she finally found the young man leaning against a tree, and two women, one quite young, she had never seen before standing before him. The young man seemed almost annoyed, or perhaps simply tired. Either way, Mirani redoubled her pace to reach them, giving a small curtsy as she did. "Mirani Flore," she introduced herself, smiling, "just a simple florist. I do hope, and I am almost sure, that I can be of service." Mirani then looked toward the other two, sizing them up. One of them, a regal brunette clad in pink-colored armor, wielded a long glaive. She seemed to be able to handle herself in a tough situation.

The other was young, Mirani suspected her to be in her mid-teens. She had gleaming white hair that was matched only by her attire. The young girl was decorated with large ribbons on her shoulders and a bow tie. Seeming to lack a weapon, the girl had a shield made of wood. Though, Mirani knew that that could have been some trick - Mirani herself was hiding her weapon in a small pouch.

  5. Ganro slowly made his way to the forest's edge. "What could that kid want from me?" he thought to himself as the others came into view. He stopped there before reaching them. He had noticed everyone but the man that asked him to come was a girl. Perhaps he was mistaken for one? He certainly wasn't the manliest in figure. Worried that this may be the case, he went around and came up behind Jayden, not saying word. He then stood there, as if being out of sight and completely quiet was somehow helpful to someone.

Lol I suck compared to everyone else.

  6. It was odd for someone to ask random people to meet him somewhere, but Alex didn't mind. Despite his looks, he liked to help other people, whatever the reason. One question that kept popping up in his mind, is why would the boy as k random strangers to meet him instead of his own family and friend. When they meet again, he might ask why

The guns user made his way towards the edge of the forest and saw a small group of people. Most of the group was female except for the boy from before and this other male. Alex causally walked up to them and smiled at them. "You must have asked a lot of people to meet here didn't you?" He told the boy as he began to nod. "Well I better introduce myself. My name is Alexander Tez, but most people call me Alex." Despite sounding nice, Alex looked very thuggish. His white jacket was left unzipped and his gun was sticking out of its holder.

  7. Jayden glanced at the group that had gathered; there were less than he'd hoped, but more than he'd expected. He did a quick, mental headcount- including himself, there were six people, three female and three male. He nodded at Alex and Mirani as they introduced themselves- completely ignoring the fact that Alex's gun was visible- and looked over the group.

"My name's Jayden Kaiuln," He said, stumbling slightly over his own last name. "I realize it's a bit... strange, for a kid like me to make a request for a bunch of strangers to meet me at the edge of Kurasa Forest. Trust me, there's reasoning behind it, but I'd like to make sure that everyone who's coming is here before I explain." With that, he leaned against the tree again, waiting for the three that had not introduced themselves to do so.

  8. Ganro clenched his staff nervously, as he saw the gunman address the man that had asked him to come. Part of him had hoped that it all really was a misunderstanding so that he didn't have to put himself on the spot. Just a background figure, that's a position he's much more comfortable with. He decided he would have to get over it and introduce himself. He slowly walked forward around to Jayden's side and spoke, in a crackling whisper "Hey... I... I'm a... What I mean to say is..." He stoped, giving a pause and forcing himself to look Jayden in the eye. He spoke again in a more clear but still whispering voice "My name is Ganro Maga." He wondered if he should add any more information while still at it, but he decided that saying anything without knowing the point of the meeting would seem rather silly, besides, it was unlikely anyone cared about his magic hobby anyway.

  9. As the Blood Mage nervously introduced himself as Ganro Maga, Mirani looked over to the other two females, who had not yet introduced themselves. Disliking their rudeness, she put a curious look on her face, and walked towards them in a sort of hop. "So, what are your names?" she asked, directing her question towards those two other females. She looked towards the rest of the group, if only to size them up a little.

The most recent one to arrive was somewhat thuggish, with a white, unzipped jacket over a black shirt that seemed to have no sleeves. A small firearm was in a holster on his waist, sticking out in a rather displeasing way. His shaggy red hair and bright blue eyes could be spotted easily, standing out against his tanned skin.

The one that came just before him was a rather young boy, in a type of robe that one would wear after bathing. He held a wand or staff-like stick in his hand, such that his appearance made him seem to be some kind of spellcaster. His pale skin and unnatural blue hair color only seemed to further this look.

  10. Rineai blinked, gazing at the three newcomers. Ignoring the ridiculously nervous Blood Mage and the scrutinizing look of the Florist. Her vision immediately darted to the ballistic weapon carelessly but threateningly sticking out of the holster belonging to the Marked Gunman who introduced himself as "Alex". This was, indeed, curious for her since she hadn't seen advanced weaponry while in her stay at Euthora. Was he perhaps a traveler, too? Or were Euthorans more than she originally credited them for? The Barrier Master was yanked out of her constantly-overlapping thoughts as the Archer, Jayden, spoke, which did only serve to magnify her curiosity for the whole matter. She felt it would be extremely impolite of her to urge the reserved, almost gloomy Archer, and so she crossed her arms carefully to not hurt herself with her own wooden shield, and waited patiently. Or at least, tried to.

    "So, what are your names?"

"Our names...? My name...?" Rineai absent-mindedly said to herself, before realizing she had completely forgotten to even mention her own name at anyone. "OH! That's right! My name is Rineai Scudo. I'm a travelling spellcaster!"

  11. Seeing that he looked very displeasing, Alex decided to tidy himself up. He zipped up his white jacket, so only a small portion of his black shirt could be seen and stuck his gun back inside the holster. He knew that first impressions meant a lot to some people and that most people that he was a thug at first sight. He wasn't from around Euthora so he got lost a lot before managing to find his way to this place. Being from a different region made him quite confused about how Euthora was like, so he tried to act as "normal" as he could.

"Sorry about my weapon." Alex apologized to the others if they accidentally got the wrong impression. "Sometimes it just sticks when I run around too much." Hearing that Rineai was also a traveler gave him some relief. "So you're a traveler as well? I thought everyone here was native besides me." He said his thoughts to the group with a small grin.

  12. She was growing bored fast. Some people started showing up and she didn't like the looks of any of them. Nita was beginning to think she had made a mistake...

Suddenly the boy spoke. Jayden something-or-other didn't do much to clear his vague reasoning for gathering all of them here and it didn't do much for Nita's annoyance. And then, to top things off, this sissy looking girls comes prancing toward her and begins asking questions. Joy. "Nita Ataie." She figured she might as well just get it over with, these people are gonna know her name eventually anyway.

The one with the gun started rambling about weapons and natives. She didn't care to listen. If this thing didn't start soon, this Jayden kid was gonna have hell to pay...

  13. Jayden nodded as the rest of the group introduced themselves, smirking slightly as the one named Ganro couldn't seem to decide what to say. He sized them up; Rineai seemed a bit absentminded, or perhaps overly enthusiastic. Mirani seemed to be friendly, the way that she prompted the last two to introduce themselves. Nita looked annoyed. Ganro struck him as nervous, though that may have been a result of meeting a bunch of strangers at the edge of a forest. Alex was defending his appearance too much.

"And what a ragtag group we are," He muttered inaudibly, keeping his slight smirk. The grin quickly faded as his face took a more serious look, and he faced the group. I probably should have thought out this explanation first, He thought to himself. Well, this is gonna be fun to explain... Alright." He spoke up at the last word. "Time to explain. You see, while I was in town, a man walked up to me much like I walked up to you five. Except we actually talked instead of meeting each other in a for- okay, I'm getting offtrack. Anyway..." He grimaced as he went back on topic. "The man said he was previously in good with the members of the High Circle. They have an advisor by the name of Sagitrai. You know some of those ridiculous laws and tax increases that have been pushed forward lately" Do they care? "The guy said Sagitrai was behind it all, he's manipulating the members of the High Circle and-" He stopped suddenly, looking down and scratching the back of his neck.

"... Look, I know this all sounds a little far-fetched, but..." He looked up again, looking at each of the people in turn. "But it makes sense, and I think we should at least try to... put an end to it..." He sighed. "Worst case scenario this is going to end with an assassination attempt." There, I said it. "So, now you know why I told you to come and you know what you're getting into. Anyone who's in is welcome. Not interested? You're free to leave."

  14. Looking back towards the young man named Jayden -- the very same archer that had told everyone in the group to meet him here -- Mirani nodded as he talked about the harsh laws and taxes. The taxes had made her small flower shop nearly unprofitable, and from day to day she wondered if a law banning some aspect of her trade would be passed. Mirani would not be surprised, for she sold many poisonous, even deadly plants in her little shop.

Soon afterwards, Jayden finished speaking, ending in a question as to whether everyone in the group would join his cause. Thinking for just a moment about the consequences if they were caught, Mirani almost immediately made up her mind. "Of course I will join you," she announced, flipping some hair out of her face, "the taxes the High Circle has passed have nearly destroyed my... business, you could call it. Though I am worried about the plants in my shop..."

  15. Ganro pondered the idea of being in a rebellion, it seemed like a kind of stupid thing to do, but the taxes were taking their toll on his family. He had to do SOMETHING. "I guess I can help." Ganro said, in a depressed tone, as if he was a small child being told to clean his room. Maybe now his magic would be good for something. He should probably announce he had it. "It might be important to note I am a mage of sorts, I use an 'odd' branch of magic that casts off my lifeforce, I think it may be helpful to this quest of sorts."

  16. Nita was pushing the border of her patience. The delusional boy couldn't even muster a sentence. By the time he had finished talking she was literally forcing herself to stay "polite" and not punch the annoying child into tomorrow. Then what he said finally registered. Assassination. Of the council. Those obnoxious stuck up snobs that the Gold Star paladins looked up to ever so much. If they were taken down, oh the pain it would cause the paladins... and what joy it would bring herself to witness this. She was starting to like this Jayden kid. Stick it to them. But she couldn't let him know that. She hadn't let anyone know her real feelings since Gold Star...

Nita clenched her fist at the recollection. "Fine, you can count me in." She said with a half-annoyed voice to hide her true feeling of excitement.

  17. "W-wait, WAIT!" The young Barrier Master had been listening intently to the Archer named Jayden Kaiuln. Sure, she had witnessed the majority of Durasken in a state of poverty due to the harsh taxes that the so-called "High Circle" had put into use. Rineai had been wanting to help the people for awhile, not knowing how, and this was her only, albeit ridiculously dangerous chance to do so. But the whole concept of assassination simply struck her. "Are we really going to...? I mean, I want to help--but killing this Sagitrai would be too much... I know this would happen in the worst case scenario, but shouldn't we first try to find out his motives?"

  18. It was odd to ask random people for help, but asking them to assassinate a council member was sure something. If he wasn't used to fighting, Alex would have surely left right when Jayden was talking. The man known as Sagitrai was surely a corrupt man that only wanted power. Alex would gladly stop a man like that for the good of others.

"I guess you can count me in." Alex agreed to the boys demands. "This will be a very interesting 'adventure' though."

  19. Jayden couldn't believe that they were willing to go along with his "mission" of sorts. He nodded grimly as Mirani spoke of how the recent laws and taxes had hurt her own trade, and acknowledged Nita's and Alex's affirmations with a curt nod to each. Jayden's attention went to Ganro, who said he was a mage- "Yeah, I think that'll come in handy, Ganro," He said, smiling a bit as he thought of how a magic user would benefit the cause. And then he turned to Rineai, who seemed shocked at the prospect of assassinating an official of Durasken's government. "Of course we'll try to find out his motives and intentions first," He assured her, "but if worst comes to worse, should it be necessary for Durasken, and there's no other way of dispatching him, he has to go." He turned to the others. "Thanks for cooperating, everyone. Wasn't sure what I'd do if nobody was willing to help- Sagitrai would be so heavily protected that it'd be suicide to go in alone."

He was interrupted by a loud snarl. and he whirled around to face it- and was met by a large, dark gray wolf glowering at the group while its three fellows stood alertly behind it, watching the assembled party with eager, ungry eyes. As if they were staring at a herd of deer.

Well, we're no deer. "You guys up for a warm-up fight? These wolves- they're evolved to run down prey. No way we'd be able to outrun them." He turned to look at the lead wolf, who seemed to be sizing up the group while staying among the trees. Jayden raised his bow and fitted an arrow into it, already prepared to fight. As an afterthought, he glanced at the bag at his feet, then back at his new allies. "By the way, I've a couple of Ethers and Potions in the backpack. Feel free to use them if you must."

  20. Mirani nodded as Jayden spoke, agreeing with nearly, if not truly, everything he said. As he was continuing about the dangers of a solitary assassination, a low growl could be heard nearby. The archer spoke of an impending battle, but Mirani was prepared even by the time Jayden knocked his bow.

Reaching into the small pouch on her waist, Mirani took one of the seeds from it -- a small, brown pod about the size of an irregular pea. Almost instantly, it grew into a thorned vine, green as the grass and whose rather large spikes were a ruddy brown. Near the "handle," which was a spot about half of a foot long where no thorns grew, a secondary vine sprouted out of the main one. This new sprout was very short, but it was tipped by a rose flower, and a single leaf graced it about midway from its source.

The rose immediately turned from bright red to a dark black. Plucking it from the main vine, Mirani examined it for a moment, and the black petals drifted off in the direction of the newcoming beasts, even without help from the wind.

" These beasts won't last long," Mirani said with a strange, almost crazed tone that seemed in direct conflict with the incredibly kind persona she revealed earlier, "especially against my whip,"
