Did I Read That Right?!?

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous Conjectures' started by Wonder Smash, Aug 4, 2011.

  1. Read this...

At one point both Link from The Legend of Zelda series and Samus Aran from the Metroid series were planned to be playable characters for the Wii version however they didn't make the release.

Guess what game they were planned for. If you don't know, the answer will probably surprise you.

  2. Knowing you, it's probably something Marvel or Nintendo related, since you are possibly the biggest fanboy of both I have ever met thus far...

EDIT: A quick Google search of your text shows that my suspicions were, in fact, correct. Apparently the two were planned for Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.

  3. If they made it in, I might have actually bought the game. :p

  4. Hahaha, I really don't like the marvel games much, Brawly knows that. Even if they got in I wouldn't have bought the game since I don't have any money. :-/

  5. I can't really say I'm broke, hehehe.

But once my girlfriend finds out I have cash, I will be. :/

  6. Ultimate Alliance... oh the memories.

  7. I bought Ultimate Alliance for the Wii and it was prettttty good (certainly better than it's sequel too, imo), and Link and Samus would've been some great added incentives. I'm on the same boat as Brawly here, fanboy attack for both Marvel and Nintendo. Y000000 we c00l. B)

  8. Wow, it only took you less than 20 minutes, lol. This would have been possibly the coolest cameo I've ever seen. However, I can see why they were taken out. Storywise, it just wouldn't have made sense. Think about it, Link is from the land of Hyrule, and Samus is from the distant future, both probably in an alternate dimension from Marvel. Of course, there's the possibility that perhaps they were brought there by one of the more powerful Marvel heroes to help them, but how would they even know about their existence? Then there's the possibility that Link and Samus got themselves into the Marvel universe, but how would they do that? In order to explain how they were there, they would probably have to take some time to explain that, which would distract from the main story, which probably wouldn't turn out well. And then there would probably be a lot of Marvel fans who would have rather had a couple of other Marvel characters in the game rather than a couple of Nintendo characters. All in all, it would have been really cool, but it probably would have hurt the game more than helped it.
