Crossover Task Force Rules/Strategy/Sign-Ups/OOC

Discussion in 'Roleplay Archives' started by Wonder Smash, May 22, 2012.

  1. Gameplay

Players take control of characters from across various forms of fiction and complete missions featuring many other fictional characters. There is also a base that players work together to manage and expand. Achievements are earned through various means, and grant various bonuses. There is also a large focus on roleplaying and comedy.

    Story

The majority of the story focuses on a team of heroes featuring fictional characters that players choose to control. The heroes fight various threats to Crossover City, which somehow contains most fictional characters as inhabitants. Most of the characters are changed at least slightly to fit into a comedy. While the different stories aren’t usually connected, they occasionally intersect or reference past events.

    Character Rules

    1. All characters must be fictional. No exceptions other than parodies.
    2. Playable characters must be heroes, or at least neutral. No villains for now.
    3. Each player starts with one character, but can gain more as they progress through the game.

    General Rules

    1. No godmodding against other players.
    2. Keep it PG. No intense violence, intense language, tobacco/alcohol/drug references, or sensual content.
    3. Roleplaying is mandatory.
    4. Try to keep comedy a focus of the roleplay/game.

    Characters

There aren’t very many restriction on playable characters, other than they must be fictional heroes. If the character is very powerful (i.e. Superman, the Hulk, Goku, etc.) they may be very powerful against NPC’s (Characters controlled by me) as long as they don’t do all of the fighting. Against other players, the characters must be significantly less powerful in order for the fight to be fair. NPC characters can be heroes and villains, but because many of them are supporting characters, they usually only appear for a mission or two.

    The Team

The team name will be decided by a collaborative effort from all of the players. While there might not be an official team leader, players can choose to allow someone to be an ”unofficial” leader, provided there is enough approval. More characters chosen by the players can join the team, after requirements are met.

    The Base

The base starts out small, but can become as big as a mansion, or even bigger, as more missions and achievements are completed. While it’s essentially just a distraction for players who want to take a break from missions, it can also be fun. More comedy is possible than usual due to the lack of much action, and some secrets can be found if one looks hard enough. New rooms and decorations can be purchased that can improve the bases functions.

    Missions

Missions are a core part of Crossover Task Force. They can vary from player versus player battles to team-ups against fictional villains to fights against alien invaders. Most missions feature popular (Or sometimes widely unknown) characters that act as NPC’s who can assist or fight against the players. Most missions offer Crossover Coins (In-game currency) as rewards, but some might offer new playable characters, or even new features.

    Achievements

Like many games in today’s day and age, this one has achievements. They can only be earned one at a time, but they provide most of the rewards in-game. Crossover Coins earned can be used to purchase new characters, new missions, and new base rooms and items.

    Disclaimer

Neither I nor any player in this game owns the vast majority of the characters, locations, or items featured in this roleplaying/forum game. They are used without permission and WITHOUT PROFIT, because many of these characters/locations/items are liked and/or respected by the players and myself. Crossover Task Force is a roleplaying/forum game based off an online roleplaying game based off an offline roleplaying game partially created by The Brawlinator.

Copy/Paste FTW. :p For those of you who signed-up earlier, please post here to confirm that you're still interested, if you are.

Thank you all for reconfirming your interest. Hopefully, I haven't waited too long and made you guys lose interest. :p If things go as planned, we should be able to begin this roleplaying/forum game by the end of the week, so please look forward to it! :D

  7. RE: Crossover Task Force Rules/Sign-Ups/OOC

I am claiming Chinese Chef from TimeSplitters, as I said. :p

  9. RE: Crossover Task Force Rules/Sign-Ups/OOC

Hello again. :p If you're reading this, you probably got my suggestion to discuss a strategy in Crossover Task Force. The reason I've decided to suggest we do it here is because it would be odd to stop gameplay entirely and discuss a strategy. So, what do you guys think? You can always just go in one group in a search for Tour Guide Mario, but you might also want to think of the possible in-game rewards you could get by completing the bonus mission. Either choice is perfectly acceptable by me, and will be decided by the majority, in other words, at least three people. If you do decide to split up, you should decide what groups you'll go in here as well, to avoid confusion.

  10. I vote we split up, in order to complete the mission, as well as so we find the guide quicker. I'll go with anyone.

  11. I also think splitting up would be a good idea, steve would be perfect to create little shelters to help protect the visitors to the museum.

  12. Just so you guys know, I'm going to set the deadline for determining whether you all go together or split up for Wednesday. I apologize for rushing those of you who haven't decided yet, but we need to continue the mission. :D

  13. Sorry I'm a day late, but it looks like you'll be splitting up. How do these groups sound?

    Group 1

    The Chinese Chef (Dark)
    Kay (Darkness41)
    Steve (Cid)

    Group 2

    Riku (Zar'roc)
    The Medic (Fuzzydude)

If you would like to be in a different group, please say so, and I'll see what I can do. Please make your decision by tomorrow, because seriously, we need to continue. :p

  14. Would it be possible to be alone? And if not, I don't so much care who, but I'd prefer to be in the smaller group. Sorry to be a bother.

  15. Sorry, but I don't think any characters should fight alone, at least for now. However, I can have Riku and Steve switch groups, so you can be in the smaller group. And just so you know, you aren't bothering me. It's my job as the person who runs (If that's the appropriate term) Crossover Task Force to make sure everybody is having fun. :D

  16. Ok, sure, thanks. I guess I'll have to work with someone, but thanks anyway.

  17. Groups look good to me.

  18. Im fine with that, do we know which group will take care of saving the museum visitors?

  19. Actually, both groups will probably be saving at least a few museum visitors, but one group will search one part of the museum, and the second group will search another. I can't reveal which group will encounter the tour guide, but the group that doesn't will do something that's also important.

Just so you guys know, I'll try to post in the Mission One thread as soon as possible, so that we can continue the roleplaying/forum game. :D
