Catching Fire [Beware of Spoilers]

So yeah, Catching Fire will be coming out on November 22, and I am seriously already feeling the hype. I think the casting for this is a little better (was not a fan of the tributes cast for the first Hunger Games, but it seems slightly better now), and upon seeing the trailer, as my IRC friends can attest, I launched into a tirade of "ohmyfuckohmyfuckohmyfuck." Needless to say, I am very excited.

Unfortunately, the trailer doesn't show Katniss spectacularly bursting into flame, but it is still a very exciting trailer, for sure.

Saw it, loved it. I think they did a really good job of adapting this one to the big screen, barring a few changes that they had to make as a consequence of a few details being left out of the original film. Unfortunate, but I do love the way they ended up making the film. It stands as a really good translation. And Johanna's actress played the part really well.

However, I was a little disappointed by how Finnick wasn't as 'grizzly' as I hoped he would be. I hoped that he'd be a little more mature and rough around the edges, but still in that glamourous kind of way... but oh well. Things were done very well.

Also, a good couple of articles (spoilarz ahead):

Did they finally explain the significance of the Mockingjay? That was the main thing that grated on me in the first film.

That Mags scene tho. We all died a little inside.

  5. If you've read the books, then you wont have any spoilers. Anyway, I'll be going to see catching fire tomorrow. I actually read the books a few years ago, before the first movie was even out, and it was all hyped up. I even tried showing it to people, but people just brushed it off. So... There's that. Actually don't entirely remember what happened in the books, although I remember the general plot and stuff.

  6. I don't think they ever explicitly point out that it is important, but they draw attention to it with symbols and whatnot. It's strongly alluded to, though. And I believe Snow might say something about Katniss being the Mockingjay.
