A New Land on the Horizon

Discussion in 'Interest Checks' started by Silver, May 28, 2016.

  1. Royal Decree

    X / X / X36

By the will of the High Council of the Unified Kingdom of Pereas; this leaflet shall sit on every street corner across the continent and its message shall be spoken throughout the land. Scholars have located a disturbance off the far reaches of the former Winoan coastlines. This disturbance, as forewarned by texts from old, has been discovered to pose a threat to the security of our sanctuary. It is unknown exactly what lays out in the perilous waters north of the sands, but the High Council has determined that action must be taken to ensure the safety of the Kingdom and its citizenry.

The Council finds that there has been service of summons as provided by law, that any and all who wish to aid their Kingdom shall journey forth to Eris wherein they shall assist the scholars and Magitek Engineer, Alraune Ellstyne, in analysis of the disturbance. All who arrive in Eris should be prepared to risk their lives for the sake of our Kingdom, as this unknown threat looms closer than we have could have ever dreamed possible, and our days are, perhaps, numbered already.

    Ellon Chronicles: True Origins

  2. Four months ago, the United Scholars detected a strange pressure coming from north of the former Winoan coastlines. At first it seemed as though mana had just been gathering over the seas – scholars advised the High Council to prepare for heavy storms. When no storms came, however, the Council grew antsy. They demanded the scholars spend the vast majority of their time and study into this disturbance. And so they had for the following week, attempting to suss out anything of importance about this unknown pressure. The results proved less than favorable. It was nearly impossible to determine what could be emitting mana at such a great resonance, but one thing could be said: it was not unlike that which the Empire of old's Magitek weaponry of mass destruction. The High Council of Pereas, fearing that another nation across the mysterious waters they had yet to properly explore had plans to destroy their sanctuary, dispatched every courier in the kingdom with a message.

For two months the message sat on every tree stump, plastered every wall, and fluttered in the breeze. It passed through word of mouth and very soon there was not a soul in Pereas that knew not of the mysterious and potentially deadly energy looming across the ocean. Many people from all over, especially those most heavily intertwined with magickal arts flocked to the United Scholar's keep in order to lend their assistance. It seemed, however, that no further answers could be wrought from their studying. The Council went unappeased for weeks, breathing down their necks until finally the Head Scholar dared to pen a request. He asked that the Kingdom build a vessel to cross the waters and carry with it an elite crew of researchers and guardians out toward the disturbance. There the scholars could more easily grasp the entity they were researching and report back.

Although the Council was reluctant at first, they eventually granted the request and began to supply engineers and workers to construct the vessel which would provide transport across what could very well be perilous waters. Another leaflet was sent out, this time asking for mercenaries and those that the knights could spare to join in a patriotic venture. Rumors quickly spread about the dangers awaiting any and all who dared to travel out – deals were cut behind closed doors to ensure the scholars would have the protection they so desired. A month prior to today, the vessel set out for the first time. The entirety of Pereas waited anxiously for their return and were surprised to see that all who had embarked came home safe and sound.

It seemed, according to the scholars, that no nation sat across the water, but an enigmatic land estimated to be about a quarter the size of their great nation. Covered in jungle and filled with beauty, the very earth itself seemed to swell with the purest mana ever observed. Although the scholars and guardians did not dare to venture into the jungles, they brought back samples of snow white sand and spring water which flowed into the ocean. These meager subjects seemed to be filled with mana, almost as if the island itself lived and breathed with vitality like a man. They had named it Aitica, or "The Land of Magic" and the question stood as to what its discovery would lead to. It was at that very moment that the High Council gathered a select group from the guardians and scholars who had ventured out before. With plans to build another vessel, these chosen few were tasked with returning to the land – their mission: to claim this paradise for the Unified Kingdom.

Little does the Council know the truth of this land's origins.

Hello everyone! I hope you're excited cause it's time to expand on the world of Ellon! I'm looking for between three and five participants to be chosen to explore (and possibly conquer) this unknown land.

We'll be using an amalgamation of ShadowSystem and Masqplay format. Send me a standard sheet, minus E-Trigger and Critical stat. I'm still working out how D-Abilities (which for my format are known as Desperation Abilities – please break out of the usual piercing damage idea, I'd be excited to see what you have to offer) and my new mechanic will work.

In addition, add a section for Affinity and section labeled C-Abilities. C-Abilities are Combo Abilities and no character starts with them. They will be explained further when they are releavent to the plot! <3
