What's your favorite book?

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous Conjectures' started by Rose, Aug 17, 2013.

  1. I make a lot of book threads, but after just having finished the Great Gatsby (I mean Gr9 Gatsby <3), I want to know what your favorite book is. And/or your favorite book series. If you can't decide, top three. Or five.

    Book:
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

    Series:
    Gone by Michael Grant
    Stravaganza by Mary Hoffman
    Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer
    Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart
A Song of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin

  2. I love any book by Kyell Gold. I'll be honest.
(Volle, Pendant of Fortune, The Prisoner's Release, Out of Position, etc.)

Safe as houses was good too. And I love 1984 - obviously, George Orwell.

  3. Just getting this out there, but I hate, loathe, detest and abhor the Great Gatsby. Nothing so great.

Right now? Wimpy Kid speaks volumes to me, so let's go with that.

  4. Project Belief by Jonathan Frahm

    @Jonno

I think that Piers Anthony's Incarnations of Immortality series is my favorite book series, the second installment my favorite book ever.

  5. Yes.

  6. Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss.

  7. ^ This girl. <3

  8. @Dark - IDK I really like Greg. I really, really, REALLY like him. Maybe because I can empathise and sympathise with him.

Mark my words he's probably going to go full emo. This opinion may or may not have been influenced by a Wimpy Kid Slash Fic of a nonsexual (albeit romantic) nature.

  9. I like Kurt Vonnegut books.

  10. As far as I'm aware (having never read the book myself), you're supposed to hate all of the characters in the story. They were written to exaggerate all the shortcomings of the time, and make you hate them. Or at least, that's what my girlfriend told me when we went to see the movie!

I've mentioned a few times to a few people that my all-time favourite book might just be The Law of Dreams by Peter Behrens. It's just such a beautifully written book, and it really spares nothing when it comes to detail. His writing is just spot-on in this one, though I liked his second novel a bit less.

  11. I'll have to say 'Z for Zachariah' would be my favorite book. I read it a very long time ago, but the fact that I still remember details so well has to say something for it.

  12. Bumping.

Favorite series is the fantasy series Age of Fire, by E. E Knight. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Close behind are, in no particular order, the Maze Runner series (James Dashner), Harry Potter (J. K. Rowling), Inheritance (Christopher Paolini), and Animorphs (K. A. Applegate). Most of these are fairly old now, especially Animorphs, but y'know whatever.

  13. Animorphs was THE SHIT.
