Now, I've already checked the database backup logs as mentioned in the MyBB blog post quoted above and it doesn't seem like we've been affected by this. However, it would still be an intelligent idea to change your passwords anyway, just in case.

 

An update on this; the MyBB group contacted the owners of the site serving the malicious script/housing the database backups and asked them to remove the script. The owners complied, having been unaware of the usage of their server for malicious purposes. This means the situation has been resolved, and as there were no entries in the admin logs about a database backup having been performed during the times mentioned in the blog post quoted above, we were not hit. As such, the red bar at the top of every page has been removed!
