CHRISTMAS $W@G 2K14

  1. The inevitable "What did you get?" post is here! Since I more than likely won't be on during my time in San Diego come Christmas Day, I wanted to get this done a little earlier, and given Santa's penultimate trip to ZEJ today, I figured now was as good of a time as ever to get this posted.

    Of course, "Christmas" is just in the title. You could celebrate Winter Solstice, Chanukah, had a birthday very recently, or whatever the heck else, and you're free to post pictures, lists, and/or descriptions of everything you'd gotten! I'll post pictures of mine, too, but here is a brief list of things that I have so far received. Since I'm trying to up dat fashion game in 2015, I got a couple of gifts from my parents and sister early, plus a couple of other gifts.

    The Head and the Heart album, from our very own Kakuzato/Nate!

    Disclosure and White Fire Alarm EPs from my friends at City of the Weak, plus a super cool thank-you note I'll be hanging someplace at some point

    An official Bright Eyes t-shirt from the guys at Saddle Creek Records

    $50 from Dinah, a very kind woman who I had the opportunity to write about as a journalist because of her successful battle against cancer

    $20 from one of my aunts, who is going through so much and I honestly wish she wouldn't so she could save it for herself, but I'm grateful for it

    My other aunt sent me a really nice gold-trimmed notebook with a felt-tipped pen for optimized writing. Thinking about using it for writing a story in.

    From my sister:
    - Memory foam slippers
    - Blue suede shoes
    - Red Converse
    - Patterned socks
    - A gray INC jacket that is super nice material
    - A patterned gray and black-and-red striped scarf

    From my parents:
    - Red beanie
    - Black and gray striped beanie
    - RFID protector front pocket wallet
    - A new Samsung camera THAT PRAISE EVERYTHING IS PRETTY DARN FAST and has great 1080p photos

    More importantly than anything, I'm very excited to see what my family and friends think of the gifts I've gotten them this year! Come next year I also want to get back into the swing of donating to the homeless and to other charities, especially since I'm going to be working really hard in all sorts of entrepreneurial and journalistic ways. The best part of the season is giving. :)

  2. Since my cousins started a tradition of doing a Secret Santa every year, I actually got stuff for once.

    -a total of $100 from all my aunts and uncles
    -a Monobear plushie
    -Danganronpa 2 (which I might do a LP of, whelp)

    I wasn't a victim of any of the joke presents this year, but I still wanna mention them for shits and giggles:

    -what every college student needs: a single bag of instant ramen
    -a banana with "I bought you a hat" written on it

  3. The oddly domestic nature of my gifts stems from my approaching college move-in, and my binding acceptance letter to Gettysburg came in two weeks before Christmas, preventing Santa from getting a million spirit wear items.

    -iron
    -tools
    -car radio
    -steering wheel cover
    -pajamas and lounge pants
    -Associated Press Stylebook (it's the dictionary of life!!!)
    -Maleficent on Blu-Ray
    -Ramen Noodle pan (for a microwave!)
    -pearls that don't fit me like a choker
    -coffee
    -makeup/nail polish
    -Barnes and Noble Gift Card
    -Leatherbound journal
    -cute outfits
    -jacket
    -rape whistle

    Updated with my aunt and grandfather's gifts.

  4. The whole domestic gifts thing was my Christmas last year.  Now since I turned down my university acceptance at the last minute, they are all sitting in massive boxes taking up half the office in the basement.


    As most of my gift exchanging has been completed, I'll chime in.  (Some pictures will be included later.)

    My brother gave me silicone mats for baking (expect some pictures in the food thread)!

    From my maternal grandparents:

    • Pajama pants (I am so short and they are so long, I look ridiculous.)
    From my parents:
    • Fairtrade rosewood jewelry box
    • Infinity scarves that my mum made
    • Candy thermometer
    • Mandolin (the cutting kind)
    • Fairtrade woven scarf
    • Travel jewelry case
    @Eebit's family gave me a mug with a golden 'K', pocket watch necklace with Alice and the White Rabbit on it, and jingle bell earrings (his sister wrote me a super cute poem to go with them).

    Jacob himself gave me an absolutely stunning mirror that has a poem I wrote (IN MY OWN HANDWRITING) printed all around the edges.  I am beyond excited to hang it up.  One of the most thoughtful gifts I have ever received.

    My co-Guider gave me a fuzzy blanket and socks.  Another friend gave me the Henry and his disappearing wives mug.  As a hostess gift I received chocolates that were wrapped with an actual real life piece of holly as a garnish.

    At this point all of my gifts have been given and everyone really seems to like them which makes me super happy.  Now on to January birthdays!

    From That One Girl Who Likes Me:
    -A marble notebook, and on the front cover are basically a bunch of pictures of Penelope (Sly C.) and another printed thing at the top saying "#AgentHeartthrob". 
    -A small leather (i think) notebook with the "#AgentHeartthrob" pasted on it.
    -Hella candy, taped together into the form of a sled, plus small bow on it. Specifically: Poky, box of skittles, two candy canes, small bag thing of Lindt chocolate. Candy canes as the "blades" of the sled at the bottom, then Poky, then skittles, then Lindt in the back like a bag of gifts.
