  14. Those of you top-screeners who chose to specialize in a Psych rather than a brand: given that everyone starts out with two pins, are there any pin lines OF YOUR PSYCH that you would like to start out with in the game itself? Cerby and I will probably add them if we don't have them already.

    Please note that you won't be able to start with Noise-based pins.

  15. Alright everyone, sorry for the hold-up. We've finished the Pin Specs for the starting Unbranded Pins, and it's also high time to disclose some changes to the system. Pin Specs are the designated statistics for each 'breed' of Pin-- that is, all Pyrokinesis Pins will have the same Specs. Specs comprise of Psych, Evolution, Leveling, Growth, Boot/Reboot, Usage, and Offense Modifier. The ones needing the most explanation are the latter four, so let's get on with it!
    • Growth entails the bonuses a Pin can gain to either Boot/Reboot, Usage, or Offense Modifier upon Leveling up. This is customizable per Level per Pin-- so while all Shockwave Pins have the same Growth Specs, you can make several unique Shockwave Pins by allotting their Growths differently.
    • Boot/Reboot specifies the Pin's cooldowns. Boot is a limitation on a Pin wherein it cannot be used right away in a given Reduction, or fight, until the amount of seconds detailed in Boot have elapsed. Reboot is the amount of time a Pin becomes unusable once its Usage has run out. Because TWEWY SP's combat takes place in measure of seconds, cooldowns can be slightly complicated, but the general rule is if the Pin is not available at the beginning of the span of time allotted to a Command, you can't use it. Let's say a Boot spec is 8 seconds. Recall that Commands typically take place in 6-second intervals (Turns themselves always last 12 seconds), so normally you just won't be able to use this Pin in the first Turn of the Reduction. If you get quickened such that your Command intervals are 4 seconds, however, you can use this Pin with an 8-second Boot on the third Command of that Turn.
    • Usage is the pool of IP the Pin has access to. IP is basically equivalent to MP, in that it's a resource meant to limit your Skills in terms of power and frequency. A Pin goes on cooldown and starts its Reboot timer when it reaches zero IP, or when your Player sets it on cooldown.
    • Offense Modifier is an augmentation to damage output to the Skills of the Pin which bears the modifier. The Offense Modifier comes into calculation as an addition to stats, though always come after other manipulations of the stat. For instance, a Player with 6 Pwr. and a 20% buff to Pwr. using a Shockwave Pin with an Offense Modifier of +2 will have the buff calculated first (resulting in 7 Pwr.), and the Offense Modifier applying after that; 7 + 2 yields 9 Pwr. for Skills of that Shockwave Pin to scale off of. Pertaining to Neutral Pins, which might have Skills that scale off of Pwr. and For. simultaneously, the Offense Modifier is halved and applied to each of the stats. The Offense Modifier will sometimes be a number with a decimal-- only whole numbers are taken into account here, so an Offense Modifier of +1.5 will not round up to +2. Decimals are used to show progress for the sake of Growths while maintaining balance.

    All these Specs might seem like a lot, but it won't require that much effort on your part. Beyond detailing the Specs in your profile and keeping those up-to-date with your chosen Growths, the Specs system should provide more boons by way of customization than trouble from keeping records. You can denote the Specs in your profile in the way you like best, but our placeholder code so far is:

    As for changes or updates to the system, some of them are found in the explanations above. We did originally plan to use cooldowns, and thus time, as the resource for Pins, but as you might imagine, this would leave Skills with focal points of strength, centering around less flexible measurements with which to gauge Skill power. In the end, a resource pool similar to MP seemed the best way to allow more versatility in Skills, since we weren't about to find that using seconds.

    Regarding Neutral Pins, whose primary role is to allow Players focused on either offensive stat to not be hard-countered by Noise with a high defensive stat, Neutral Pins can scale off of either Pwr. or For. but must target half of the enemy's Com. plus half of their Per.

    Regarding Equipment, you can make a few threads Branded if you want. At least two should be Unbranded at this stage, however.

    Regarding your Player's stats, since their power as a unit is centralized in their usage of Pins, and since we may not be able to tell exactly what you want for your character by their Pin selection, you're allotting the stats yourselves. PRS is always 20, and Luck + Reaction should equal 10%. Pwr. + Com. + For. + Per. should equal 10; none of these four stats should be higher than 5, however, and even 5 itself is pushing it (on this note, Luck and Reaction should have a minimum of 2%).

    Without further ado, the Pin Specs for the starting Unbranded Pins. These are how Pin Specs will be phrased in official directories or listings, but all you need to know is how to read this format, not write it. The main thing to know is that the numbers in the parentheses of Boot/Reboot, Usage, and Offense Modifier are the optimal Specs if you take the Pin's Growths into account-- listed almost more for our uses to help envision any potential balancing problems more than anything. The only thing not yet included is the Experience thresholds for the Pins at every Level-- for now, list all Unbranded starting Pins as 0/10 for Experience. The Starting Pins of Top-Screeners will most likely have different Experience thresholds, which we'll get to calculating soon here. For now, however, the Unbranded starting Pins!

    On a final note, because this is still a new system, if you have questions, be they general or about why some numbers up there might be what they are, we'd like to be somewhat transparent so as not to shut out constructive criticism. While we did try to make these numbers balanced, if they prove to be under or overwhelming in practice, please bear with us if we need to make modifications.
