With Olimar's reveal we received confirmation of a new Pikmin stage from Pikmin 3. Well in today's new Pic of the Day we received a new stage. At first glance I thought it to be Fort Ferox but after looking at Sakurai's comments about the picture on Miiverse it turns out it is in fact a stage from Kid Icarus Uprising and seems to take place during the arc in the story when Viridi is attacking the humans with her Reset Bombs. Could this stage have a dynamic background that shows us the war Viridi wages with the humans? Highly possible.

And yes it appears this stage will be 3DS only.

News from Nintendo Direct:

As part of the Year of Luigi, Luigi has been confirmed as a playable character.


EDIT: And the official site has updated to include a page for Luigi.

And I would tend to agree. Though there have been a lot of really good posts; they tend to get some dynamic shots which are really good for piquing interest. Hopefully we get something a little more substantive tomorrow.

This time, it's Sonic returning from Brawl. And you know what that means!


That's right, folks! An obligatory Sonic vs Mario screenshot!

Now that we're getting more frequent substantial updates, I can't say that I'm not feeling even more hyped than I was for it around its official announcement. While it was cool then, the fact that NoA's Twitter announced it would be around for the E3 Direct for sure just kinda put a damper on the bit of mystery behind it all when the first trailer was shown. Now, this treacle of info we're getting is building up the hype a lot more for me, week by week. Sure, we may get useless/silly picture updates every so often, but it's in between some sweet veteran character sets that I'm incredibly thankful for right in this moment.

Peach was kinda out of the blue, but hey, I'm glad that she's been shown this early because she's my sister's main and she was excited to see her new look for 4. I have to say that I had a good laugh at the picture of her giving eyes to Link.

Meanwhile, while his re-addition was a little controversial, EXTREMELY excited about Toon Link's inclusion for this go around. It makes sense for WWHD promo, and he just looks darn awesome now. Hope that he gets even the slightest moveset update this time around, but either way, I'm happy for him to be back.

Sonic adds this extra layer to fan speculation called: "Nwo dat hez ben konfirme, doz we git Snak nwo 2???11!!" -- I'm personally vouching for Snake's re-introduction happening really close or even on SSB4's official release date. He's the one with the most uncertainty surrounding his potential for this game, so his confirmation at the last second would make the most logical sense for really hyping every one up to the greatest extent.

Wonder who the inevitable Pokemanz character will be when they're revealed in a bit here.

But yeah, sounds like what the folk at Project M have been doing with their characters. It'd be nice if we saw Mario get a Doctor Mario costume, Wario retaining his classic outfit, and Toon Link getting the glorious Outset costume. also mewtwo with the inhibitor armour from the first movie

 

I want a female Pokemon Trainer if the Pokemon Trainers comes back! And the female Villager!

 

Today marks the return of everyone's favourite effeminate swordsman, Marth! I am glad to know that he is returning. He was definitely one of my favourite characters in Melee, and it was good that he returned for Brawl. As probably the most recognizable FE character, it is good that they got his reveal out of the way~

 

WE WANT CHROM. CHROM FOR SSB4. CHROM IS AWESOME. MORESO THAN MARTH.

 

Come on Nintendo! Give Marth a Lucina alternate, please!

 

Marth looks pretty darn amazing, I've gotta say, and way moreso than any other appearance he's made at that. With his reveal, I can pretty much sleep well. He's been my main since Melee and I don't foresee that stopping anytime soon. The real question is if Ike is making it as well (which I sincerely hope he does). Pretty sure we're going to get Chrom, especially with Arena Ferox already revealed and him being the most prominent character on the front of the box of Awakening and in advertisements for said game.

 

Honestly, the way Brawl panned out, I really appreciated the balance in character dynamics between Ike and Marth. I don't pretend to know much about the Fire Emblem series (shamefully), but I can appreciate the diversity in character playstyle. In the event that Ike is discarded in favour of another FE character, I should hope that s/he provides a good contrast against Marth's swiftness and agile flexibility.
