Streets of Melsborough

  1. RE: Melsborough Streets

I wrinkle my nose at the smell. " Definately a bachelor pad, not a womens touch to be seen. I follow Jeremy and take the twenty five cent tour. I couldn't help but to shudder, nothing had been washed for a very long time. I look at the place where we were told we were supposed to sleep and took a deep breath. "Sorry Jeremy I don't do cellars, if you are uncomfortable with me sleeping anywhere else in the house I will just sleep outside, its not cold enough to kill me." I had slept outside before and wouldn't have any qualms now. I turn to walk back up the cellar stairs hoping I hadn't made a mistake coming here.

Jeremy walks over to you and puts his hand on your shoulders. "No, no.. c'mon don't go out on the roof, now your just makin' me feel bad.. Look if you want you can take the couch and I'll sleep down here, Ok?" he lets go of your shoulders and steps back. "Listen, I'm sure you've noticed that Melsborough ain't doin' very good.. as in, anybody here also ain't doin' very good.. Us included. But I guess after all this time I got so used to the idea that everyone is desperate for a place to stay or a few bucks that I just assumed everyone would just accept what they were given... so.. I'm sorry bout' that." As he talks his ears noticeably droop. "So if I can make it up to you, I gave Thaddeus two passes for a free day at the Melsborough fair, maybe I'll see you there? I'll buy you a burger or somethin' you know... my way of apologising I guess."

  4. RE: Melsborough Streets

"Thanks Jeremy, I will sleep on the floor in the living room if thats ok, and going to the fair with that thing in the cellar is not my idea of fun though the fair does sound interesting." "I think that a hamburger would be delicious provided they aren't made from rat." I look at Thaddeus sleeping on the floor and realize he is even more pathetic than I first thought. I decide that maybe it might be fun to go to the fair and a free hamburger might be good as well. " I will see you in the morning Jeremy, and thanks again I really do appreciate your thoughtfulness, I am just not used to it."

You find your spot on the floor, blankets and a pillow are provided, whether or not you chose to use them is your choice, either way sleeping in a strange environment kept you with one eye open all night. Eventually the ray of sunlight on your face stop you from being in a deep sleep. You can hear voices from the other room. After a time you realise that it is the voice of the deer, talking... to someone -- In hushed but frantic tones... you can hear him pacing in what you presume to be the dining room. Examining your surroundings makes it clear that only you and the sleeping fox are the only thing in this room for the time being. Suddenly, you hear the deer burst out in anger: "I know!" he takes few breaths to quiet himself. "How was I supposed to know that?... Well then it's his fault too!... No I can't... Fine, but just make it unnoticiable..." you then hear a quick beep -- He was on a cellphone.

    (Cid)

You sleep peacefully for the most part, but it is only until one of your nightmares shakes you from your slumber, only for you to realise that its morning. you look about. The cellar remained much as it did the previous night, except now it housed a small well-rested pug. After a few moments you can hear a shout from the upstairs: "I know!" after putting some thoughts together you discern that it was the voice of the deer that you had drove here with. The house then appeared as it was frozen it time as there were no sounds and you are caught mid breath to listen for any other amount of noise... sadly none came. Eventually you can hear the deers loud hooves clatter across the floor and off to another section of the house.

You both know that today of course was the opening day of the Melsborough fair. Whether is is to be an abundance of happy people or just another gathering of vagrants and cutthroats
looking for another easy mark is yet to be revealed. One thing was indefinite, until you got there you were sure Jeremy wouldn't be able to keep his tail steady, as it would be wishing all the way there.

  6. RE: Melsborough Streets

Thaddeus awakens quite suddenly yet heavily from his nightmare. He sort of felt like he had a mini heart attack there... The spot in the back of his throat still hurt a bit, although he expected it would for a while. Realizing his fur from the chin to about his chest was still covered in his own blood, he figured he might try taking a bath in whatever murky water this place might have. He feels to see if the tickets are still in his pocket, sort of a natural reaction for him. After all he lived on the streets, so he was stolen from all the time. He stood up off the hammock, and made his way up the stairs.

  7. RE: Melsborough Streets

Out of habit I reach for my knives, I open my eyes slowly looking around. I kick Jeremy with my paw. " Nice look out you turned out to be." I get up and stretch watching for the deer. My bones pop and crack from the position I had been in and I thought that maybe I should have slept outside on the grass, it definately would have been softer. I look over at Jeremy and realise that the fair might be the only excitement this guy will have in a long time. "Looks like I'm going to the fair." I mutter to myself

  8. RE: Melsborough Streets

    (HChief)

When you kick him, Jeremy gives a snort, and rolls back over, seeming to still be in a deep sleep. after a few clats you see the deer walk in. It seems that he had been up for a while as he was already dressed and his hair was combed back. He looks at you surprised as he puts his cell-phone in his jean pocket, and wipes his hand off on his Yellow T-shirt, making a black ioly stain on the front. He stares in silence for a moment before giving you a smile. "Oh... Hey, didn't think you'd be up so early. So what are the plans, are you going with Jeremy to the fair to have 'fun'? Or do you have other plans?" as he talked he made his way over to the right of the room, nearest the curtains, and gave them a quick jerk to let the sunlight in.

    (Cid)

You walk up the stairs, and overhear the deer talking to the cheetah. The fox, known simply as Jeremy was sound asleep, face buried in the couch's back. At the moment the deer was just opening the tattered red curtains allowing some sunlight into the dusty house. you can see that the cheetah, much like you had awoken recently. She had a hand resting on one of her knives, which you hadn't noticed until now. looking outside you can tell its about 7:03 am and that come 9:00 Jeremy would be up for the fair.

  9. RE: Melsborough Streets

Thaddeus looks around a bit, and walks over towards towards the Deer and the Cheetah. "Hello, I guess I have not actually introduced myself to you yet, nor have you to me. I guess I will start the introduction really, I am Thaddeus. Last night, the nice Fox fellow handed me a pair of tickets to the fair, he said to give one to you as you were not there at the time" Thaddeus was right now speaking in an almost gentlmenly voice, and hands a ticket to the Cheetah. "Also it is nice to meet you too" He says to the deer. "Would you be able to tell me were the washroom would be, so I can wash these blood stains off of my fur before the fair later?"

  10. RE: Melsborough Streets

I stand up and look at the deer. "Everything alright you seem a little upset?" I watch the deer closely to see if there is any reaction. I slowly turn my head towards Thaddeus. "I am Mystra, and I would say it was a pleasure to meet you but pleasure isn't in my vocabulary, and as for the tickets I suppose I will accompany Jeremy to the fair if only to get the burger he has offered and to see if I can find something sweet. as that is one little piece of joy I will allow myself. I look down at Jeremy and kick him again harder this time. "You know it is rude to sleep while your guests are awake."

  11. RE: Melsborough Streets

    (HChief)
You kick Jeremy harder this time. you hear a slow groan as he stretches out his arms and gives a long yawn. He twists himself and you hear a series of pops as his back cracks into place. "Oh! Uh... I'm awake... barely. Anyway, good mornin' mates, is uh.. anyone exited for the fair, I know I am." He lays back on the couch, still semi-asleep and focus' his gaze on a random spot on the ceiling. "so, I just want to thank you for takin' me up on my offer, this'l be the first time I went with someone, so uh... yay.. I suppose." he gives a shy smile at you and chuckles a bit before returning his gaze to the ceiling.

    (General)

The deer looks at both of you. He has both of his arms crossed and he remains with a slight smirk on his face. "No, don't worry about it. Trust me I have everything under control." He exhales and looks at Jeremy. "I wouldn't get you hopes up man, it might be your last at the fair with the way things have been going..." Jeremy rubs his eyes and yawns. "Hey! Don't say things like that mate, the fair here is about the only think gettin' me off my arse these days. Sides' I never miss out the food." Jeremy looks at the two of you. "Uh... remind me to get some snags later when we pass the chip truck mates." Jeremy sits up and pulls his shirt from under one of the cushions, and slips it on.

    (Cid)
The deer looks back at Thaddeus. "Now then, you said something about cleaning off? Well bathrooms out that way and to the left, don't expect anything much though, water runs cold and half the time we've got no pressure, so... enjoy." As he speaks he gestures where the bathroom would be as well as explaining that the corner-shower would be far from warm. if you went into the bathroom, you would see a small rusted sink, and a small corner-shower, other than a small cracked bar of soap there was no other soaps to be seen. The shower door was loose, and it would take some effort to get it closed. As for the door to the bathroom itself, it simply clicked itself shut, at least giving you some sense of privacy.

  12. RE: Melsborough Streets

"Well, I had better atleast try and get this blood off me... Don't want people thinking im a murderer eh?" Thaddeus says to the deer. He walks out that way and into the washroom. He walks up to the sink, and twists the valve on it for the water. As the deer said, there is barely any water pressure for the sink, and it seems to simply be sputtering out water every couple seconds. Thaddeus takes some water with his hands, and runs it over his fur for a minute, and looks at the mirror seeing how bad the blood really was. He washed it off, as best as he could anyways with what water there was, and with there only being a bar of soap.

He then walked back out into the hall way, and then thought for a moment on what he would do today. He was a bit concerned about what the deer said about how it might be his last day, considering the way things have been going.

  13. RE: Melsborough Streets

"Always live like its your last day and even if it is not at least you had fun. That is my wise advice for you today Jeremy." I eye the deer warily and walk toward the washroom. " You almost done in there ol man?" I stand waiting to use the washroom. The thought of using the facilities gives me the creeps. I hope that they will at least have toilet paper, though that may be too much to hope for. I think about the little fox on the couch and smile. Such child like enthusiasm is hard to find and unfortunately it usually doesn't last.

  14. RE: Melsborough Streets

"Oh, yes...." Thaddeus walks out of the hall way, and over towards the Cheetah. "I was really just pondering in the hallway for the last minute or so, so go right on in; although the water pressure is bad, right as they said" Thaddeus then walked out to the door to check the weather outside.

  15. RE: Melsborough Streets

    (HChief)

As you enter the bathroom you detect the faint smell of mildew and blood, each of which were more than likely present. The paint on the wall was jaundice and the wallpaper was peeling. The facilities themselves were rusted and worn, the toilet cover had recieved more than a few cracks and chips.

Thankfully the bathroom had ample supplies of toilet paper. As you finish up and leave the bathroom you can see Jeremy waiting on beside the door. He is holding a small radio in his hand. He looks at you, a large grin spread across his face. "Guess what! They're calling for sunshine today!" he stomps the floor enthusiastically. "Finally, some good news! Things are finally looking up." You hear a few clats on the floor as the deer walks around the corner. "Jeremy, I think your making this up to be more than it is..." he wipes his hand across his face and sighs. "Just please, shut the fuck up..." he quickly leaves the halway and bumps the fox's shoulder, nearly knocking him over.

    (Cid)

The Cheetah walks around the corner towards the bathroom, out of veiw. The deer stares at you for a moment before giving an exasperated sigh. He turns away and walks down towards the hall, you see Jeremy get up from the couch and walk off towards the bathroom aswell. As he leaves you can see the deer give a quick wrist jerk towards Jeremy, but you couldn't quite make out the jesture. Jeremy, oblivious keeps heading towards the bathroom.

  16. RE: Melsborough Streets

I look at Thaddeus. "What the hell do you think that was about?" I don't wait for a response and walk towards the deer. I am thankful for the place to stay but I do not appreciate the way you are treating Jeremy. Since when does enthusiasm cause so much anger? Did you forget how to have fun? if so let someone have some semblance of amusement. We will be out of your hair within the next hour and you can go on with your secretive life. I take a deep breath and move in to the deers face. "But while I am here you will be kind to Jeremy or I will show you the skills I have earned along my travels, and believe it when I say I have no problem eating acquaintences."

The deer looks back at you with a smirk, obviously unaffected by your remark. "Whatever, I gotta go anyway." he yells into the hallway. "Hey fatty, your in charge of the house til' I get back." He grabs a small sweater and heads outside, ducking his antlers unde the doorframe as he goes. Jeremy, still confused as to all the going-ons, looks at his watch then enthusiastically at you: "Alright chickie, we've got half-an-hour before the fair gets goin' so I figure we can get all rigged up, then head out!" he has a cheery look on his face, and could be the only thing making this trip worth it.

    Cid

You hear the cheetah say some rather unpleasant things to the deer, possibly even explaining that she may very well eat him. After the deer walks out, he makes it clear that the bear had the house until he came back... whenever that would be... In the meanwhile Jeremy was still excited for the fair, and perhaps you were too. It was evident that it was only one half-hour before the fair. and Jeremy was getting ancy.

  18. RE: Melsborough Streets

Thaddeus walks up to Jeremy kind of slow, as he is still thinking about things, albiet it mainly being about the fair later, but also about if he can truly survive in this little town known as Melsbrough. "Quite a bit excited for the fair eh? Me too, I have never actually been to a fair before... The closest ive ever gotten is sleeping outside the fence of one, although they seem pretty fun..." Thaddeus says to Jeremy.

Jeremy hurriedly jogs downstairs into the basement, audible rummaging can be heard as the sounds of cans and other such clutter clank to the floor. Instinctively you both notice that the bear was nowhere to be seen, an you could have sworn he was in the main hallway a few minutes ago.

For a few moments the house stood quiet, even Jeremy's childish preparation tactic had calmed itself. Slowly Jeremy ascended the stairs, wearing a wider grin than you had thought possible. "Guess what..." he said, making it seem like a was a pressurized balloon ready to explode from all the self-induced festivities.

Jeremy took a one last inhale before crying out in uncontrolled excitement. "FREE COTTON CANDY!" He made an attempted touchdown with the small slip of paper, cobwebs trailing from it as it floated itself softly to the floor. He watched it sway peacefully to the wooden floor. His ears bent back in embarassment. "Well, not much of a touchdown... nevermind then... "

  20. RE: Melsborough Streets

"Cotton candy?" Definately have to have some." Lets get this show on the road." I laugh in spite of my self. Jeremy's enthusias
is contagious. I smile and wish that this feeling would last. "So how are we getting to this fair?" I stand waiting for reply not caring when it comes as this is the first time I have had any feeling of happiness. It won't last long though.... it never does.
