So, how's the weather?

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous Conjectures' started by Jonno, Jul 18, 2015.

  1. Inspired by Dark's (soon to be literal!) meltdown here, how's the weather in your area today? Relatively mild? Scorching hot? Hellishly humid? Frostily frigid?

Today, the high's going to be one mild 108 degrees Fahrenheit with a 60% rate of humidity to accompany our 70% chance of rainfall. Lovely. I am, however, looking forward to the rain. Arizona rains tend to cool down the place quite a bit before you feel like you're inhaling water once you walk outside. That part of it all will be glorious, indeed.

    Wait

    What

That was this morning's forecast, and now they're calling for a mere 89 degree high! Of course, the even better news is the flash flood warning lasting until 11:00 pm tomorrow night due to overcast from a hurricane in Mexico. Good times.

  2. "How's the weather?" Cut the small talk, bub, we all know what we're here for, so let's just get down to business. You got the money, I got the goods, so let's get this over with, 'kay Jonny boy?
I guarantee you're gonna' love your new air conditioner. Yer gonna' need it.

  3. 106 F with humidity on Sunday ;-;

It's usually more humid than it is outside in here, so I'll probably be a puddle of goo on the floor. I'm Canadian, I'm used to high 70s / low-mid 80s at most, not 106.

  4. While western Canada literally burns, southern Ontario is under a heat warning until at least Monday.  Where is my snow!?!

  5. There was an intense thunderstorm last night (constant thunder and lightning, high winds, heavy rain). Right now though the sky's mostly clear and it's just windy. Probably hot too.

  6. Still dry as a bone out here in Central WA...

  7. Over here we've got 76 F right now with 88% humidity.
Then of course we'll get highs of 91 F from 2-5 PM.

It's funny because I'm sitting in the part of the apartment that's not AC'd (we shut the door at a certain point so the bedrooms stay chill), and whenever anyone comes in here they either cry or bring a fan along. But here I am felling a little wet (not really so much sweating) and chilling like it's 60 degrees. This is pretty funny when I consider the fact that my mom lived in Pakistan until she was 16 and my brother lived in Pakistan from a little while after he was born up until he was maybe 7. For comparison, where my grandfather lived in Pakistan is currently at 89 F (feels like 102) 66% humidity.

  8. :$

    Oh.

    :5

I have a grand air conditioner, actually. If I didn't, I'd either be buying yours or moving to somewhere that actually accommodates my overall weatherly preferences before settling down for good. It's a great stroke of something sardonic when you have a heat allergies, making you more fatigued to 100+ degree weather than most people, and yet you live in Arizona. Good times.

That said, we're having a high of only about 80 today thanks to some overcast, still, so that much is good. I wish that, with the humidity that we're getting in the afternoon, we'd actually get some rain, though. Wading through a water is actually so much better when there's actually water there and it's not a metaphor for a gigantic wall-phantasm of thick gaseous water-air affecting your lungs.

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

This is what I'm wondering right now.

  9. @whitesubtitlesoncanadianwinter posting about Canada's latest weather mishaps in the Twittering thread reminded me of this topic. Yesterday was astoundingly chilly, at around 50 degrees Fahrenheit on the average (with rain!), and now, we've ceded back into what started  as a 75-ish day and is rounding out about 10 degrees less than that with a nice breeze in the air. For the desert, especially, this is an awesome surprise to have such mild, cool-ish weather pervading the days. We're projected to keep this up for at least the next week, so I hear. Hopefully this trend continues for as long as possible.

  10. It ended up raining again this morning, which I had no idea would happen, so that was a pretty cool surprise. Otherwise, it's been a pleasant ~70 with a mild, chilly breeze. I'm enjoying this brief, wintry reprieve before things get hot as hell from June through August.

  11. Ugh. And now we're back in the area of 90+ degrees. It'll let up over the weekend, but only back into the 80s. Bring me them 70s and 60s level lovin' again.

  12. Well it's been steady cloud cover since Saturday, with the sun starting to peak through the clouds today. We were SUPPOSED to have thunderstorms during all of the dreariness, but so far have only have an on-and-off light rain with a heavier shower that started around 1am last night. Looks like we might get a storm yet on Sunday, but seeing as the forecast changes about every hour and a half, I have no idea.

  13. It's going to rain Friday which means I can use my new umbrella when I walk to see BERNIE

  14. What a message to raise my mood after walking out in 95 degree weather with intense humidity for over an hour setting up new umbrellas in the front yard. Sheesh.

    but anyway

  15. The rain isn't purple enough.

  16. FUCK. Some other friends of mine were just talking about how celebrities die in threes when Chyna just did, and were wondering who was next. This is very reminiscent of when Farah Fawcett and Michael Jackson died on the same day. What a surprise, and not in the good sense.
