Satisfying a writing urge I got while trying to fall asleep

Discussion in 'Creation Station' started by The Kakuzato, Aug 15, 2015.

  1. So, this isn't a particularly well-written story, and it took me all of like 10-15 minutes to write, but the idea randomly came to me while I was trying to sleep, and I knew my mind wouldn't let it go unless I did something with it.

It came as a surprise when one day, Johnny woke up to find that he had superpowers. He was suddenly able to fly, had immense strength and intelligence, and was almost completely invulnerable. He would be able to protect the city he lived in!

And, as it would happen, supervillains began to arise that threatened his city. And none of these villains was more dangerous than that of The Carcinogen. The Carcinogen was an evil genius, using an array of advanced scientific gadgets to wreak havoc on the city, and as it was with most villains to superheroes, The Carcinogen never seemed to be taken down for good. He would always come back stronger and more confident than before.

For years and years, Johnny fought with The Carcinogen, and though the villain would always lose, it would always leave Johnny completely worn out. It was almost a war at this point. Johnny tried everything from his laser vision to trying to outsmart him and using his own chemical agents against him. Sure these tactics would hold off The Carcinogen for a while, but he would always come back, much to Johnny's chagrin.

The phone rang. On the other side was a man's voice. "Hello? This is David from make-a-wish," came the voice, full of compassion. "I wanted to tell little Johnny how much everyone loves the Super Johnny comics. They're getting rave reviews everywhere!"

The doctor sighed as he listened. "I'm sorry, sir," he muttered, obviously shaken up, "but Johnny died this morning. There was nothing we could do."

  2. .....
    Well ok then.
    Thank you.
I expected... not a punch to the gut.
    A+ tho, it's a good tiny story.
