Requiem of Depravity v2.0

Discussion in 'Interest Checks' started by CodasterTheDisaster, Dec 8, 2014.

  1. (except that this is recycled as all hell)

In the beginning, the world was barren, ruled by cruel and abominable gods. Every day was a struggle for food and water, and trying to stay hidden. The gods ate or enslaved every human they found, and as the population continually dwindled, some rose up to fight. Armed with nothing more than bravery and their bodies, they charged into battle. The gods laughed, slaughtering the humans mercilessly. When the children of the brave souls found out, they too wanted to fight, and they met the same fate. Seven more brave souls joined together to face down the gods, wielding weapons carved from bones. They would have met the same fate, had not a gift been bestowed upon them from the Divines. One was bestowed Mist, to obscure them from those who meant harm, and to keep cool the barren sands. One was given Storm, to bring water to the land, and to protect it with fierce gales. Another was given Dragon, to rule the skies, and watch over those on the ground. Volcano became the guardian of the mountains, and a fierce warrior of flame and stone. Another was given Life, to bring plants and feed the humans. Upon another was bestowed Sand, to keep hidden the ancient's realm, and to challenge the gods' reign. And finally, there was Tundra. He was to seal the gods in ice and keep watch.

The seven, now having gained the powers to not only stop the gods, but the powers to turn the world from barren sands, to lush, green forests, stood together against the reign of terror. They fought bravely, using their powers to seal away each abomination they met. The war lasted for many years, and as the seven stood agaisnt the last, and most powerful god, many more brave humans stood with them. The god, Valdenvira, was vanquished, sealed to the northern tundra. The seven built a grand tower on the spot where the final battle was. The seven split directions, each taking a different place on the world to watch over. The seven nations were created this way, for as the seven set off, crowds of people would follow, building homes and cities as they went. Usvaan, Mist. Myrsk, Storm. Tudesh, Dragon. Tivuor, Volcano. Silar, Life. Barahm, Sand. Thyella, Tundra. Thousands of years passed, and all was peaceful. No old gods were to be seen. The seven nations were more or less at peace.
    All was well.
On a regular, autumn day, like any other, a Tivuorian farmer claimed to see a large, hideous creature, with one eye and many mouths, with large tentacles lashing out. A small force of knights was sent to investigate, though only one returned. He only described it as a beast of nothing but despair and gluttony.
Rumors spread that the Old Gods were returning, but the rulers of the seven nation vehemently denied it. As the years passed, strange sightings began to become more commonplace, and the nations began to blame eachother. Because of the political turmoil, border skirmishes became commonplace. During the middle of one such skirmish, the ground caved in, and the forces of both sides disappeared into the mouth of a massive, horrific being. No longer could the leaders of the nations hide the truth, but neither would the newfound knowledge of the Old Gods restore peace. Resource wars started, alliances formed, and while the rich stockpiled food and lined their pockets, the poor starved and soldiers were eaten.

But should the legendary Seven return, could the ravenous beings of hatred and gluttony be stopped?

as always I'm stealing dat mist

EDIT: Also, I'll be doubling up on characters and taking Volcano as well, unless someone just really wants it.
EDIT 2: properly tagged my sister even though it's unnecessary

  15. Okay. Any questions, just let me know!

  16. Oh, right. Before I forgot. Magic doesn't exist in the traditional sense; rather people learn 'Arts' depending on where they live. The energy used to fuel Arts is based on spiritual energy, whether it's taken from the individual or filtered from the spirit energy released by the planet's core or by dying organisms. Generally the more nature that's nearby, the more free-flowing energy there is. Arts generally aren't extremely powerful. Anybody can learn Arts, but some noble families seem to be much more proficient at them.
