Perhaps In My Dreams

Once, maybe a long time ago, you had some strange friends, their names or faces- you no longer remember. They would enter and exit your life as they pleased, yet no one would acknowledge them.​

And then you grew up.​

Like that, they were gone. You figured they must have been your imaginary friends. Yet there was always a lingering notion that they were something else. They spoke with such grace and knowledge that a child your age wouldn't have been able to imagine- they were so diverse, so different from the folks you generally met.​

"Will me meet again...?"​

You slipped into bed​

"Perhaps in my dreams."​

And that night as you fell asleep, it was as if your world collapsed around you. When you woke- there were people you did not know. They walked through the walls of your house. No one saw you but them. No one heard you but them.​

And it was in this world- this strange unseen realm- that your adventure began.​

Because just as there are dreams- there are nightmares.​
