Oblivion Phantasy ~ A Decaying Flux 【RP Thread】

A plan? Anima was asking her if she had a plan? Kaya shut her eyes, firmly. It was a sheer lack of a plan that had landed them in this mess in the first place. Things would need more structure, she was certainly dead-on in that regard. "I must admit, that at this point, we are quite honestly... winging it." Kaya stated begrudgingly to the woman. While it would do nothing to assuage her worries, it seemed that she had no choice but to give her the honest answer. The illusionist cast her gaze over the small, barely visible wisp she had conjured moments prior, just barely obscured by the maniacal Krie dodging the raging mechanization coming directly at him. Miracle. A bloody miracle. He had remained unscathed, and in a position to poke around for an Achilles' Heel of this gargantuan beast... if such a machine could even be described as beastly.

Immediately, she glinted out of existence for nary more than a moment. The wisp expanded into a portal - one that she now found herself walking through to be gauging the battle from an entirely different vantage point. The portal instantly destabilized and collapsed as she stepped out of it. Her blonde hair flowing behind her as the Mana dispersed in a slight gust of wind. Oh yes, Kaya was starting to get her bearings with her powers once more... it reminded her of her training days with the Aria. She smiled, almost fondly... but now was not the time. She looked to Anima, singed slightly from her own run-in with the draconian metal monster. Kaya focused her Mana now on the girl.

Tears of Light Mana seemed to almost percolate along the skin of the strange Anima, whom for reasons beyond Kaya, Serenity had chosen to revive with their one and only Soul Tonic. They seeped into her skin, alleviating her of whatever wounds she had sustained in taking the brunt of the blast - and walking into the trap set by those who worked in the Minerva Complex... Kaya thought quietly to herself, Since she is now the one who we are working to keep alive, I guess I should pull my weight... She clenched her teeth. Anima and her had not gotten off to the best of starts, but this was something that would need to be put aside. For the better of the completion of Operation Flash, at the very least.

She looked back to the dragon, still trying to process how best to slay it. "Krie, do you see any weak points from where you are?" Though in his mania, Kaya doubted that she would get an intelligible answer in the form of dialogue. Instead, she called back to Toiran, who had brought another creature to the fray without Kaya seeing. "Toiran, watch Krie. Make sure you replicate that strike - we need you to work in tandem!" she yelled, hoping that Krie would pick up on the message as well, "Distract it as best you can, and do not let it get near Chiasma!" She barked out orders. She did not like leading the group, but she figured it would be best if she started to figure out a way to swiftly eliminate the construct of the Complex. Anima's flames had been a good start - though they did not in the least resemble her own serpentine illusions. The Spirit Energy was a peculiar force that Kaya did not completely understand.

If she is even alive...? she shook her head, instead trying to prepare a second spell with her mind. It was clear that she was going to need to severely recalculate the course of action of the party... as best she could, with the extenuating circumstances having come into play.

  2. Toiran nodded, grinning a little. "Don't you worry, Kaya. I can distract that thing, alright." He sidled to the left, back towards the group, and snapped his whip- but now it seemed to be a signal to the tortoise, who slowly turned his back to the group and walked behind the pillar. As Toiran watched, Orichalcum settled himself in his position, stamping his stubby, scaled legs on the floor as if to attract the Dragomech's attention. After a few seconds, he withdrew into his shell. Toiran nodded to himself. "Orichalcum should provide a distraction for a few minutes. Let's get this over with."

In what may have been a response to Kaya, Krie let out another loud roar causing an immense blazing red aura to surge up around him forming another layer of boons around him in a visible fashion. His very appearance screamed strength, and that was all that was important for the moment. Kaya wanted to know what its weakness was? "To me...its whole body is its weakness, heh heh heh!!" he exclaimed loudly, raising his scythe in the air which wavered and blossomed with crimson energy. The large man brought the scythe back and to the side before lunging forward for a horizontal cleave, the blade slashing against the mechanical construct's legs. That was just the beginning however. Krie smirked maniacally as he leaped back a bit, gripping his scythe so tightly that he thought the shaft would break under the force of his power. The stuff about the mission didn't even matter to him anymore. Plans and schemes and organization--what was the point of it all now? Blinded by power, Krie was determined to do what he knew best--to slay. Living creature or not, nothing was immune to the sharp blade of his scythe. Nothing. And he was determined to prove that.

A challenge was a challenge any way one looked at it. Things like the Grand Drakos weren't very common. Krie had never engaged such a thing before in battle, and even still he had managed to muster up the courage or recklessness to rush in and...despite what he wanted to think, keep everyone else safe. Mind vacant for the moment, there was a time just before the excess calling of strength where he had everyone's best interests in mind. If he were the one to take the hits meant for his allies, then that would be for the best. He was a hearty fellow; he could take it, not to mention the pain was something he enjoyed. It made him feel alive, and the resulting scars of a skirmish were proud titles--things he could brag about to the others back in the northern lands, should he ever return there. With all the talk of job security, he imagined himself working for the Aria of Order for as long as he could. How else would he find great constructs such as the one before him to fight? How else would he see the world?

  4. Oh, so they did mind.

Serenity's eyes narrowed slightly and she idly tapped a finger against her staff. Something curled itself inside her chest and the glow around the acolyte seemed to dim, though it was hardly noticeable. Tenkai had told her the outside world would be different from the holy church she lived in. Serenity hadn't expected it to be this different, however. Even if she had used their last item to revive someone, it was better someone than no one. Chiasma was too far from their group and too close to the Grand Drakos. With another member, they could finish off the monstrosity quicker and then she could move to aid Chiasma.

Serenity's lips tightened into a thin line, her smile disappearing from her face. Hours ago, Kaya had willingly allowed herself to be a sacrifice. Though it never came to that, it still happened. Now the woman was willing to leave Anima to die if it meant completing her 'mission'.

Had she thought about how Chiasma would feel if Anima were to die? It was quite clear the two cared for each other very much. Letting one die was the same as letting both. Serenity had intended to heal Chiasma as soon as the battle was over because, really, that was what she was here for.

Serenity stayed like this for a long, long moment. And then, she smiled, her aura brightening once more. With a soft hum, the acolyte conjured up twin white lights that swirled around Anima and helped close the wounds the other had sustained.

    ~ Boss Phase II ~

Gears ground harshly, inner metal vibrating into a humming, constructed hiss which reverberated deeply, transposing its ominous vibration throughout the makeshift arena. The Prototype Dragomech recoiled visibly as the Pulse Tapper's and the Slayer's respective attacks connected, carving fresh damage into its mammoth, armored hide. But upon the contact of the scythe, the titanium alloy crackled with power--empty power nodes connected across its body lit up into activity, the void behind the transparent material consumed by bright yellow energy. Immediately, when the affixed points could no longer withstand the trigger output, it was released. With disrupted bangs, clouds of electricity were discharged around Grand Drakos, visible sparks forming a fleeting web of electricity which was then broken down into trails, traces, and then nothing at all.

Draconian mockery of a head whirred around, scanning the source of an unprecedented perturbance--Orichalcum's bait. And it leapt. Metallic mass hovering above Brutal Krie for as long as a single second, barely scratched armor still holding traces of static, the Prototype Dragomech crashed into the floor several meters behind him, claws stabbing the ground as if it was sand. The massive tail lashed out from this new position, further extending as each individual segment disjointed itself from the tail, revealing at the same time a structural, flexible channel filled with a vile, dark green liquid...

    ~ Ally Phase III ~

Anima jumped slightly in startled fright as the electric explosion was triggered, having barely enough time to experience the revitalizing effect of the recovery magic that had been cast mere moments before then. It only took two spells from the spellcasters Kaya and Serenity for her to regain her stamina fully... as if the monstrous automaton's ambush had never happened in the first place. To call them very skilled would be quite accurate, but to call them unorthodox instead would be... a severe understatement, indeed. A blur crossed her vision.

"Aaah!" Anima yelled as she inched away from the weaponized attachment that was Grand Drakos' tail, just narrowly missing her midsection by a few feet, but it was clear she was not her target to start with. Shit, that was astonishingly close... the Pulse Tapper exhaled in relief... and approached it.

Even before she had finished pacing towards a spot where the battlebound construct would fall within her casting range, another clump of ghostly fierce embers spawned by Anima's otherworldly will, her eyes once again shading themselves with the red of channeled temper. This time, however, she did not restrain herself to accumulate and recycle the residual traces of energy left by her technique--her Spirit Energy--and instead proceeded to shoot it directly at the mechanized beast. This time, however, the astral imitation of fire lingered, appearing to have, impossibly, set the very metal aflame...

  6. Well, it seemed the giant monstrosity wasn't very happy with them. Then again, she supposed nobody would be happy about being attacked. Serenity took a moment to judge the situation. She was a little too close to comfort it seemed. Retreating back seemed like a good idea. She didn't want to be struck by a stray hit after all. The acolyte stifled a small laugh, as if finding the thought amusing and it was. Just like the machine, she didn't like to be attacked either. Pain wasn't a very pleasant thing after all.

    [Serenity] moves to [H-3].

"Oh!" Serenity gasped softly as she bumped into something while stepping back. Curious and confused as to what it was, the young woman turned to take a look. She gazed at it, bending forward slightly to give it a closer examination. It was some sort of construct, she believed. She couldn't quite figure out what it did, however. Unable to help herself, Serenity reached a hand forward and gently touched it with her fingertips. At the same time, she unconsciously released some of her mana as well, as if trying to feel it in a different way. Instantly, she knew she had done something when the thing began to glow and quickly snatched her hand back.

    "Oh dear."

  7. "Seems things are heating up a little," Toiran muttered, seeming to ignore his own unintentional pun. The mechanical beast was ablaze, attacked by Anima's rather interesting fire energy after missing Krie with a powerful tail sweep. Yet it still seemed focused on its taunter, the tortoise who now crawled into the farthest corner of the room it could. Clever reptile, using the column as cover, and Toiran grinned a bit at his partner, not that they could see each other.

Focused eyes returned to the Prototype Dragomech. Toiran sidled closer to Krie, striking the machine with his whip as he did so. Granted, it wouldn't do much damage, but some was better than none, especially with the enemy focused elsewhere. The Beastmaster gave his teammate a sidelong look. "Holding up there, Krie?" He asked, voice an attempted casual but coming out as terse. He could only hope Orichalcum's bait would last. That the team could subdue or destroy the Dragomech and move on.

And even if they did... there was no telling if there was something more dangerous awaiting them outside.

    {Wisp Cell moves to H9 [E9 - F9 - G9 - H9]}

As she prepared herself to unleash her Mana, Kaya noticed that Krie had quite successfully and astonishingly not been once touched by the gargantuan draconian construct that was known to Team Delta-Q as the Grand Drakos, the slayer of Chiasma, the last step standing in the way of their final rendezvous to complete Operation Flash. In response to her earlier question, from within the depths of his own bloodthirsty (or perhaps, oilthirsty would be considered more accurate) malice, Krie had responded to her that he considered the entire body its own weakness. She ground her teeth back and forth against one another, calling instead to Toiran, "Keep an eye on him! Don't need any casualties on account of stupidity." The Beastmaster had used his partner - the tortoise - to seemingly distract the giant metal beast. Whatever it had done, Kaya could not see, but the dragon seemed to be moving away from them and towards the opposite end of the room. As long as it doesn't prey any further on Chiasma, we will be fine... But her mental mantra was not as assuring as she hoped it would be, to her.

Redirecting her attention now, Kaya mentally cursed at herself for not paying closer attention. Shit, shit, shit, shit. She noticed that Anima's Spirit Energy had ignited and somehow caught the metal plating of the Grand Drakos' exterior to blaze with some sort of ethereal mockery of flame. The spell she had been preparing to cast was of the ice elemental, which surely would have quenched the flames lit upon its back. The residual Spirit Energy and her own Mana would have cancelled - perhaps violently, it was tough to tell. She played it safe, choosing to instead follow the giant mechanical monster as it pursued Toiran's pet - Maybe not so safe after all, - and release her own bursts of fiery energy towards the beasts. Her serpentine illusions, crafted from her body Mana. She knew that the Mana would interact adversely in colliding with whatever it was that Anima had left on the massive thing, with its cranking gears and roars filled with intonations of the grinding machinery that kept it perpetually pushing against them.

Her staff allowed the serpentine-shaped flames to surge forth as a hissing sound announced their existence. The first serpent began to immediately lock in on the weakest point of the dragomech, sinking its illusory teeth into the spot that Anima's flame had singed just moments prior. The second serpent coiled around the body, flames licking viciously all the way across the metal plating. Their venomous fangs would likely have no effect upon the machine, but Kaya still felt that it was better to leave the ghastly pyre burning, as opposed to extinguishing Anima's score on their assailant. Though it was barely audible under the cacophony of whirling and grinding that was the dragomech, Kaya turned her head to the side to utter to Anima, "Nice shot."

When she did turn her head, however, she saw Serenity seemingly spaced out and distant, looking away from the battle. Her heart leaped slightly, as she knew that if the dragon were not distracted itself, it could easily make a successful strike on her. And unlike the madman that was Krie, Kaya was not certain that Serenity would be able to make it out of the way in an inhuman display of reflex and body manipulation. "Serenity! What are you doing?!" A shout of exasperation intermingled with genuine concern. A trace of Mana seemed to exude from Serenity's finger as the metal column in front of her resonated with her touch. It seemed to almost charge from the added Mana... But what did that mean? Kaya was not sure if she wanted to take the chance to figure it out. She didn't mean to snap at the acolyte, but Kaya could not take any more hazards with safety. Not after Kirin perished due to her own miscalculations. Not after the mission's success was compromised by Chiasma being rendered unconscious and defenseless...

  9. Krie attacks Grand Drakos! 2 hits! 14 Dmg per hit! (ATK)

The one attack launched, Krie quickly utilized his reflexes to evade the giant dracomech's tail as it swept, the attack itself rather disorienting, but with the bolstered senses, the slayer had no problems in avoiding the thing's form of retaliation. He caught wind of Toiran nearby, asking how he was holding up. How did he look? He hoped powerful because that was certainly how he felt. Untouched. Doling out the pain. A blazing red aura surging around him with his icy eyes tinged with specks of crimson like the blood he so craved to feel on his tongue--to have the stickiness of someone else's liquid life clinging to his skin, yet he would not feel that in this battle. It was a curse upon metal constructs who refused the slayer's thirst. Krie let out a wild growl before smirking, not bothering to look upon his ally. One deterrence in his focus would be the end of him; he was quite aware of that and wasn't intent on losing said focus anytime soon. "I'm holding up just fine, beast boy," Krie jeered lightheartedly, baring his teeth as he tried to keep the immense power flowing through him under control. "I see you're not doing badly yourself, eh? Heh heh...." It was figurative of course, given that the slayer wasn't even gazing at Toiran, but still. If he was well enough to initiate conversation with a psychopath in the heat of battle, he couldn't have been that bad off. Deciding not to spare more words at the moment--despite being rather literate with an expansive vocabulary--he made a move against the Grand Drakos. Scythe flashing dangerously, Krie pulled his weapon back and brought it down hard upon the enormous construct, retracting it quickly and turning for a horizontal back-slash, the aura around his scythe's blade practically tearing at the dracomech's armor with ease--like a knife through butter.

"She says stupidity, and I say life-saving!!" Krie scoffed loudly, his voice possessing such instinctual delight, relishing the feelings of the hunger for blood. For death. What did Kaya know? Hiding out in the periphery doing what exactly? Unleashing her little fiery snakes at the thing from afar? And how was she able to do that? Because the thing was distracted, that's why! Both he and Toiran's little pet seemed to be doing just fine in taking the heat from the creature--it was pretty much their job to take the blows. Did she not appreciate what he was trying to do? Did she really misconstrue his actions as pure recklessness? Sure that was his nature, but he wasn't doing this for the sake of doing this. THERE WASN'T EVEN ANY BLOOD IN IT FOR HIM. What would he revel in this time? Nothing. Fuel? Grease? Lube? Nothing compared to the feeling and taste of blood. This was no selfish act; this was a martyrdom, though Krie had no plans to fall as a sacrificial lamb. He would show her--show them ALL-- that he was not one to be messed with. That HE knew what he was doing. If we're to work as a team, heh heh heh, they'll have to put a bit more faith in me. Questionable my actions might be, but I always get the job done. He held his ground and balanced himself, strengthening his stance.

    Always. Heh heh heh...

Another cloud of crackling electricity burst forth from the Prototype Dragomech's energy conductors. The Slayer within the dispersing yellow net would, however, not be as fortunate as the first time, as he would feel the effects of paralysis settle in his weapon-holding arms. And even before the miasma of sparks cleared, Grand Drakos would begin another assault.

The segmented tail lashed again, not as a whip, but as lance, sharply pointed end aimed at the Beastmaster's general direction. While the actual piercing pain would be sudden, the true danger lied in the dark, venomously green liquid dripping out into the floor as the immense machine retracted its tail swiftly. With another swiping motion, the same tail's titanium plating made unrestrained contact with Krie's paralyzed self, and an unsuspecting Kaya who happened to be within the attack's enhanced reach.

    ~ Ally Phase IV ~

The Pulse Tapper winced as Kaya and Krie were sent backwards with the sheer force of the draconian construct's attack. Seeing it, however, be drawn away from the actual combatants and towards the Beastmaster's tortoise was a surprise. Checking from her position that the damage inflicted by the Dragomech wasn't lethal, Anima sighed in relief--what else could she do, when her imminent destiny lied among the uncharted corners of the Minerva Complex, the rampaging Grand Drakos, and this mysterious group who had allegedly come to rescue Chiasma as well?

"You okay there?" she launched, more specifically at Kaya, since the scythe-wielding maniac seemed to be faring considerably well, after dodging each and every attempt their common enemy had at hitting him. Until now, of course. Deciding to use this open moment as breathing room amidst the chaos of the ensuing battle, Anima closed her eyes, and her Spirit Energy flickered into life.

  11. At Kaya's distressed shout, Serenity hummed thoughtfully, still a little distracted by the structure in front of her. After a moment or two, she turned her head to look back at the woman, confusion clear on her face. She hadn't realized she had done anything wrong. The structure didn't seem to do anything. Then again, there were several more scattered around the room. Maybe something would happen if they were all activated. Serenity had to admit, she was quite curious as to what would happen.

"I'm not quite sure what I'm doing," the acolyte admitted, seeming oblivious to the fact the giant metal drake had just struck Krie and Kaya quite hard. In truth, she had blinked the moment it happened and so, she now stared at the spot Kaya formerly stood upon. Serenity blinked again. That was strange. Looking around, the blond soon found her and Krie further away than she remembered. Tapping her chin with a slender finger, she decided not to think about it and instead, walked closer toward them in order to assess their injuries.

    [Serenity] moves to [E-3].

"Are you alright?" she inquired, squinting her eyes a little as she tried to figure out what was wrong with the brunet. He had clearly been hurt but he wasn't moving either. From what she could tell, the injury wasn't enough to impair his movement. It must have been something else. A small spark emitted from the man's skin. "Oh!" The exclamation came softly from her lips and Serenity smiled. Now she knew what was wrong. Opening her left hand, the one not holding her staff, she began to emit a strange mist from her palm. Leaning close, Serenity gently blew at it, guiding the mist toward Krie.

[Serenity] casts Warm Glow on [Krie]. [Krie] is free of [Paralysis]!
    MP: 18/40

"Miss Kaya, do you have trust issues?" the acolyte randomly questioned as her magic freed Krie of his ailment. She looked Kaya in the eye and, her own crystalline blue eyes shining, smiled warmly at the brunette. "It's alright. It'll get better."

No sooner had Krie quipped about her lambasting his stupidity that a yellow curtain of sparking energy jolted into his body, seemingly rendering him unable to defend himself. Kaya's eyes widened as a harmless jab at the man in all of his lunacy turned into a quiet jinx, leaving their main method of attacking out of commission for the time being... but that was not where it ended. "LOOK OUT!!" she screamed to Krie and herself more than anyone else as the mechanized dragon blitzed directly towards them, its tail extending into its maximum length to encompass both herself and the Slayer in its range. "Shiiiiit...!" she uttered just moments before bracing herself. She shut her eyes as the lengthy, segmented, titanium tail winded her, knocking her from her feet and sending both herself and Krie flying backwards. She landed with an audible thud, but luckily, she felt as though she were able to continue... for the time being. Thankfully, she had not yet gotten to a point where she could no longer sustain damage. From her new vantage point on the floor, she surveyed the area... her staff had landed just beside her - that was good. Krie seemed to be in decent shape, though he made no immediate signs of getting up... Toiran was looking on at the battle, for the time being... and Serenity? Still absently watching the now-active column in front of her... Just what the hell IS that thing, anyway...? Kaya resisted the urge to yell at her again, though it seemed that her attention had already been drawn.

The girl wandered towards the duo on the floor, as Kaya stood abruptly up. The dragon was far enough away that she could take a moment's reprieve, watching Serenity do her work. She seemed to immediately just know what ailed Krie... and fixed it accordingly. Just who was this girl, anyway, and where was she even going to go, after this? Kaya did not understand her presence in the least. She absently put a finger to her temple and massaged it... closing her eyes pensively. "Miss Kaya..." the girl asked her, as her eyes snapped open, "do you have trust issues?" She stared into the eyes of her opposite, the blonde seeming quite distant from the battle at hand. "I'm... sorry?" she asked, in complete disbelief. What exactly was this girl even asking? "Trust issues...?" she repeated absently, as though the words were not connecting properly with her mind. "I really don't think this is the time for this, Serenity." The girl smiled, an almost hauntingly absent smile, letting her know it will get better. "Gods..." she muttered, "It'd better. Only way for that is to get outta here though."

Anima, meanwhile, was more concerned for her physical well-being. Kaya met her gaze at a distance, and nodded slowly, "Yeah... fine." She cast a final sidelong look at the chilling blue gaze of the acolyte, hoping that Anima might get a bit better understanding of just what she was going through. Her staff in hand, Kaya turned her head again, adjusting her sights to focus on the monstrosity rampaging towards the wider corner of the room... it seemed that it was less distracted now than before, but Toiran's tortoise was certainly doing its job well. "That's long enough a rest..." she muttered to nobody in particular. She phased out of existence for a moment, before opening the rift-portal created by her small wisp that she had released in what had seemed like hours ago, but in all actuality was likely just a couple moments... Everything was adding up; the peculiarity of the situation, the fact that they were caught by this mechanical beast in the first place, and Chiasma's continued unconsciousness... coupled with the new irritation that was Serenity's strange, out-of-place question. Something in Kaya snapped as she stepped out of the wisp-portal... "My bloody turn..." she spoke, most directly to the gargantuan, looming presence of the dragonmech. An energy within her seemed to supercharge her cells, amplifying the Mana within her body. She felt like she was invincible. She felt like she was finally a match for the seemingly fireproof monster before her.

Immediately, she twirled her staff like a baton. Her flaming serpentlike illusions coiled around her body, but did not seem to faze her as she glared, her eyes overcome with a brilliant light that signified the release of some strange energy, different from Mana, but much like the incredible malice that had overtaken Krie at the beginning of this futile battle. It seemed endless. An arduous trial that would hopefully end with positive results... all that mattered was Chiasma stayed out of harm's way. We can't risk compromising the mission... she thought to herself, and Anima. She would destroy us before even the Commander could rip into us. So many extenuating circumstances, so many improvisations... Kaya could not take much more of this shit. The four serpents slithered through the air, removing themselves from the blazing spiral they formed around the illusionist. They slithered and resumed their formation around what would be the body of the dragon; diving through with a more intensive brightness and flame, more akin to what a true flame would be. The venom would likely not do much in this scenario, but each time the snakes scored a hit on the dragon, it seemed to become more and more charred... as though its structural integrity were collapsing.

Kaya slunk back for a moment, trying desperately to stay standing. She was weary from exerting so much Mana so quickly. The red pigment of the elemental spectrum still blazed about the monster, as Anima's spiritual residue continued to blaze on about the mechanical construct. Noting that Toiran was not going to be close enough to the dragon to attack it, Kaya quietly gasped out "Toiran... in your pack... the Solution..." she had distributed the items she found in the nook when the rest of them had been taking out the gunners from afar, and Toiran - coincidentally now the closest one to her - had ended up with the Solution they had obtained. It seemed like some sort of drink that would restore, or at least quicken her Mana Cycle's restoration. Hopefully, at least... she trusted the zoo boy. Hopefully he would be able to heal her wounds so that she could keep fighting... otherwise, she felt her Mana Cycle growing lower and lower to a perhaps critical point...

  13. Toiran spared a smirk for Krie's light reply, but it was short-lived. Not long after the Slayer had approached and attacked the machine did the aforementioned monstrosity release a discharge of energy which would no doubt hinder Krie's ability to fight. The Beastmaster opened his mouth to call a warning to his teammate, but interrupted himself in a futile attempt to block the oncoming, lancing tail. Toirain took a step back from the pain, but he'd been bitten enough times by snakes to recognize the feeling of an unhealthy dose of poison spreading through his veins.

"You have got to be kidding me," The man muttered in tense irritation, ignoring the dizziness setting in as the Dragomech's tail slammed into Kaya and Krie. The assault knocked them away from their attacker, but they seemed to be relatively fine, especially when Serenity appeared to heal Krie of whatever ailment had been the result of the discharge of energy. Good; Krie would definitely keep up the assault. As Toiran turned to look back at the Dragomech, he quickly assessed his own injuries; he'd have to stay away from the core of the battle while the poison worked its way out of his system. Fine with him; he wasn't doing anything significant to the machine and was better off, for the moment, hanging back and helping his allies from the sidelines.

Speaking of which. His gaze shifted over to Kaya, who still seemed to be in good health, if a tad exhausted. The Beastmaster nodded in understanding as she mentioned the solution that had been looted from the gunners. Drawing out said restorative item, Toiran sidled closer to Kaya while keeping an alert eye on the Dragomech. Orichalcum moved further from the beast in an effort to hold out his bait for just a few seconds more, or perhaps to try to draw the Dragomech away from his envenomed master.

  14. Krie's maddened eyes widened and he grinned maniacally as the discharge froze him in place, his muscles tightening to the point where he could no longer move them. He was imprisoned within his own body, incapable of fighting back or even retreating at this point. It was a helpless feeling to a normal person, but Krie remained unfazed. Even as the mechanical dragon construct elongated its tail to the maximum length and swung right into him. He could have swore he laughed as he was tossed clear across the way with Kaya who seemed to be able to stand after such a blow, granted he had long since already been on his feet, scythe at the ready...or at least it would be if he were actually able to command his arms to swing it, and though he tried to overcome his affliction through sheer force of will, it was just not happening for the poor guy...at least for a moment. Sure enough, that creepy ass glowing woman was going to get involved which would normally be bad, but she wound up casting some spell on him that completely removed his paralysis. He took a deep breath as he felt his muscles slowly starting to relax. As much as he hated that Serenity had even deigned to place her attention on him, he had to admit it was great to be able to actually move again. Being stuck in one spot wasn't really his thing. Blinking a couple of times, he realized that he was several yards away from the dragomech at this point, so he had no other choice but to start huffing it.

    Krie moves to G6.

"Thanks for the aid, lady," Krie tried his best to give a moderate thanks without sounding ungrateful or sarcastic. He thought he pulled it off well enough to dash away from the creepy woman. He didn't make it far before his legs started to protest. Acting so fast after just having been completely locked in place turned out not to be the greatest of ideas. Speaking of ideas, regular thoughts were beginning to surge through his mind, for the bloodlust was finally beginning to fade, not to mention the extra power he had evoked which had significantly bolstered his reflexes. Ain't going to be so flexible now, heh heh, he thought to himself, his body practically already bracing itself for some future pain, not that he would mind. He stopped in place and gazed at his target with stoic eyes now, whereas before they had been large and hungering for destruction. Though he certainly hadn't lost his edge. If there was destruction to be wrought, he would exact it upon anything that got in his way. For the moment, however, he took the reprieve in order to focus, speeding up the cycling of his own mana so that the used mana would become refreshed again. It wasn't an instant fix, but at least he could steadily build back up his reserves while he had the time to do so.

Never been one to waste a moment. Heh heh heh.

    ~ Ally Phase V ~

"By the Gods..." Anima blinked in astonishment as the Illusionist, in what could be described as an excess of potential, unleashed a relentless magical assault on the the titan automaton which further accentuated the charred traces of metal her own ethereal flame had left before. "Who... who are you all?" the question left her lips, remaining suspended in the tension that constantly swatted at them all, like the fierce gales of a storm.

The Prototype Dragomech simply sprung to the side, with notoriously less dexterity in its mechanic movements nonetheless, an orange flicker in the corner of her eye glinting in the presence of a flamethrower whooshing from beyond the Grand Drakos' maw. It was to be expected... the thing evidently looked capable of handling much more physical strain than that. Even with moderate space that distanced her from the common enemy, Anima sighed in relief as she glanced at the composite mechanisms that were its wings. Why was it not using them? Furthermore, why was something like this in the middle of Secchu'ra? Was this peaceful land perhaps even far more involved in the chaos of the wars that she had always thought? The implications were disheartening... But Anima made her best effort at clearing her thoughts, and refreshing her energy.

  16. It seemed things were really starting to pick up now. She would no longer have time to examine the strange structures that lit up when touched since the group seemed to be in need of assistance. Especially the one with the ability to summon. Left alone for too long and the poison would only proceed to corrupt his body further. That would be terribly painful and having a weakened member would bring them trouble. Serenity smiled, taking quiet steps forward in order to reach the male.

    [Serenity] moves to [E-4].

Once more, she called forth the strange mist which cured Krie of his ailment. Allowing it to rise up from her palm, she manipulated the mana of orange to swirl and curl. Satisfied, the acolyte brought her palm to her face and blew. It wafted into the air, aimless in its cause, and then drifted along. It was slow, almost too slow, but finally came to a stop above Toiran's head and. . . . fell. The mist seeped into his ears, working its way inside of him to purge him of his plague.

[Serenity] casts Warm Glow on [Toiran]. [Toiran] is free of Severe Poison.

Kaya inhaled sharply as she saw the gigantic mess of gears and metal moving fast towards the centrepiece of the mission. Chiasma's position was in jeopardy as the mecha moved past all of them and towards his corpse... but it was not to be. The flames just narrowly missed the mysterious man by a few feet. Much too close for the comfort of the illusionist, who was already fearing for the safety of the mission. However, she still felt herself supercharged with the phantoms of the primal fuel. She was determined to change the tides of this battle, especially with the spectral flames that still had the metallic drake ignited. The risk of compromising the mission, as she had been thinking moments prior, was now greater than ever. She needed to keep the mechanical monstrosity distracted, somehow. And if it meant risking her own safety, then so be it.

A piece of rhetoric from somewhere behind her could only be traced back to Anima, who had seemed astonished by the dance of flame that she had put on. And 'by the Gods' indeed, she intended to keep that performance up. The sparks of Mana were already dancing on the tip of her staff, as the band of red from the elemental spectrum held the entirety of it alight. She gratefully took the Solution from Toiran, and chugged it back. With a curt nod, she breathed a quiet "Thanks." to the beastmaster. His aid had been quiet, as was his nature, but it was welcome all the same. Kaya felt her Mana Reserves rapidly replenishing themselves as the cool, unidentifiable liquid crept its way down her throat. Its restorative properties would be kicking in shortly after, but what she truly needed was more Mana to expend. The last bout had just about done her in, and she was nowhere near finished with her attempt at burning the metal away from this beast.

She stepped off to the side, intent on dragging the monster away from the still-unconscious body of Chiasma. Silently, she wished she could go over and shake her charge awake. It seemed impossible that he would still be sleeping, and yet... he still slept. The impact of the lasers from the dragonmech must have been quite potent. Her lips tightened into a hard line as the image of Anima and Chiasma wandering directly into the trap replayed itself in her mind. Adrenaline and some other fuel coursed through her veins as she widened her eyes and sprung into action, trying desperately to divert the attention of the dragon from both her team and their charge. "Toiran, make sure your turtle doesn't move too close! Back up!" It was clear that the beastmaster's turtle was going to otherwise lure the dragon right to Chiasma - something that Kaya knew they could not afford. Effortlessly, and without a word more, the tip of her staff ignited itself.

The faces of four serpentine flames once more emerged from the staff's end. They coiled around her outstreched arms, surprisingly not biting into her with their fangs. She was an expert in these illusions. They were not something she would so easily lose her mastery over as a practised illusionist. One after the other, the flame-snakes found their mark - the dragonmech once again. They licked up and down its metal frame, serving to char the metal if nothing else. It seemed to be wearing down, but only barely. Its speed was yet unparalleled, and it would take more than a few flames on the metal to finally get rid of this threat... though her burst of power had been beneficial. If this battle came down to the overexertion of her own Body Mana, so be it. That was the way it had to be. A small sacrifice for the greater good of this world, if this Chiasma is who we think he is. she thought to herself. Though she would never voice that aloud; Anima's mistrust of her would only grow. But that mistrust was a two-way street. The girl was invaluable and had merits of her own, but she was a wildcard. A loose cannon. She could be the roadblock in their plans...

But that was for later. The facts stood at Anima being invaluable. She had, after all, been the one who had given Team Delta-Q a fighting chance in the first place... so for now, it was best to not ruin that team synergy. Focusing the mech and eliminating the threat standing in the way of their escape was paramount. "Give it everything, boys! It's time to get rid of this goddamn scrap metal and go home! All or nothing!"

  18. Toiran blinked as the feeling of poison faded from his system, but quickly enough determined the cause- he glanced back at Serenity and gave a silent nod with a grin. It was enjoyable how the team truly worked as just that; a pack of predators working as one to fend off a threat to their survival. Or perhaps that was coming from his years with Ariyou.

Regardless, there was still a battle to fight. He gave Kaya a glance as she told him to get his tortoise to back up, and didn't respond for a moment as he looked over to where the Dragomech, Orichalcum, and Chiasma were centered. Finally the Beastmaster shook his head. "Orichalcum isn't going to be able to hold that thing's attention for much longer," He replied. "And he's too slow to fully pull it away from Chiasma. We'll just have to be more careful." He moved closer, assessing the scene before him. Orichalcum was trapped behind one of the columns, but he was very close to one of the structures Serenity had bumped into earlier. It didn't appear to do anything, but...

Toiran gave his tortoise a nod as if to indicate where to go, and the reptile moved for the structure. The Beastmaster looked back at Kaya, and then looked over his teammates. "We may as well try drawing it away ourselves... but with a concentrated assault, we should be able to bring it down before too long." As if to punctuate his statement, he lashed out rather ineffectually at the machine with his whip, but it appeared to be either more for show or a signal than a real attack.
