  1. Contemplating the benefits of an additional "Video Game" subforum under the Misc Conjectures section because, after all, we're essentially a big video game community with a sufficiently large pool of interests.

    What say? Yay, or nay?

  2. There's no real need for this, I think... it's worked fine under Misc Conjectures thus far.

  3. You edited my poll out. D=

  4. No, I just edited the "no" option.

  5. Since the topics about video games are diverse, it could be beneficial to gather all of them into a subforum.

  6. This has been suggested before, as I recall... *digs for quote*

My stance on this hasn't really changed. As it stands, I have yet to see a constant enough post-flow into Miscellaneous Conjectures to warrant the activity of the section being splintered off into subsections, as I said in the quote above. I still understand that you want it to be 'organized,' but from an activity standpoint, there just isn't enough to have it separated. Look at Acanthite, for example. The lack of activity shows because of how many forums it has compared to how few are actively posted in (due to a smaller memberbase).

If I were to see more posts of both a video game nature, and other things in Misc. Conjectures - enough so that the active video game threads are getting pushed out of the picture - then I would naturally be okay with making subforums. But for now, I must respectfully disagree with this suggestion. I'll leave the discussion open, and I'd love to have other people weigh in on this, but this is just my stance (and, if I may, the stance of the staff) on the matter.

  7. But the sheer number of Video Games topics in Miscellaneous Conjectures makes the section... not miscellaneous, if I may. It just makes it "video games" and "anything else", which really just makes it look like a mess.

Yes, there aren't many posts that come through the video game topics, but there are a large number of Video Games topics, which would warrant a subforum in my opinion.

(but opinions from us don't really matter, do they? it's all up to the staff.)

  8. While it does seem that a prominent topic in Miscellaneous Conjectures is video games, I fully agree with Eebit that there would have to be more activity, in such that until video game topics are popular and common and have a need to be segregated from the other topics, the subforum would be unnecessary.

And shut your mouth, Gist. Haven't I told you that I have half the admins already under my claw?

  9. But the majority of the MC topics is Video Games.

With that said, why not rename it "Video Games" and give it a MC subforum?

  10. But why give it a subforum at all? There is no need to differentiate the two if only one out of them would actually garner any attention from the members. As it stands, we barely have enough activity on the forums to sustain the section with the two combined. If we were to diverge the two into separate streams of posts, then you're saying one would get posts (Video Games), and as I'm seeing it at this present point in time, the other would taper off into oblivion, much like "Real Talk," which previously was also a subforum to Miscellaneous Conjectures.

I understand that it looks nicer on paper, but I think you're exaggerating how many posts there are for Video Games in contrast to other topics that could be discussed. As it is, the time of the year is very fitting for video games to become the central topic of discussion, as E3 is going on, so naturally people are going to be boarding the hype train. I stand by my statement; we don't need more subforums at this point. I don't see a convincing reason as to why we should split it up apart from 'more organization,' which, while good, only hinders the appearance to the forum, as something is going to end up pushed down, making it tedious to actually visit that section.

And I'm not sure if you were joking with your stricken-out part of your post (I know Cerby wasn't ;x ) but the staff actually really do appreciate the input of you guys. We're all equal here, the staff just have fancy titles. If you guys think that it's worth doing, then we'll definitely take a good, hard look at it, but majority opinion at this point is either apathetic or against.
