(Mystery, Slight Comedy) The Tiger in the Manor

Discussion in 'Interest Checks' started by Gold Dullahan, Jul 18, 2014.

  1. I'm desperate for RPing...
    "Late at night
    doors are closed
    in the dark
    a ruby eye glows
    moonlight shines
    on gold and black-
    I arch my back."
    - Clockwork Tiger,
    By Sunday Driver

It was December 1, 1865 and, as you opened the letter, a gentle snow fell.
Just as you had expected, the letter was from Ms. Hale's Manor.
Years ago, when you had been but a child, you had met Ms. Margaret Hale.

Tucked into its own little corner.
A simple yet large house with warm, welcoming lights.

Despite its name, Pleasant View Road (where you had lived as a child) wasn't all that pretty.
It was… a slum… to put it nicely, you suppose.

Ms.Margaret Hale lived somewhat in the distance, but when large drug chain had been found among the residents of Pleasant View, and the adults had all been arrested-
She was the first, and only, to volunteer to watch the children.

There weren't that many kids, you recalled.
Most had been beaten to death at some point or neglected by their parents.

But for until you all had grown enough to move out, you lived with her-
    The kindly old woman-

    Ms.Margaret Hale.

She lived alone, her own kids had died long ago-
And every year, she would call all of the Pleasant View children back “home” for Christmas.

You smiled gently as you pulled away from your thoughts to the letter at hand.

    “Dear Sir or Madam,”

That was… not how Ms. Hale generally spoke.
It should’ve been ‘Dear Sweetie,’ or something or other.

    “We regret to inform you-”

You knew where this was going, but the memory of that gentle angelic face looking down  at you on the bed sweetly as she tucked you in during the cold nights- you couldn’t bear it.

“Of Ms. Margaret Benedict Hale’s untimely demise.”

The letter requested you come back for December as always, attend the funeral, etc.

Signed by her lawyer, his name unimportant as you slumped back into your chair.

Another letter lay on your table.
Without mentioning a name, this one spoke of another child from Pleasant View. He/she detailed how they were also coming back, how they missed you-
How they were infamous murderer Tiger...

    Why, lord? Why?

But you had to go... for Ms. Hale.
And also because you didn't have this months rent-But primarily for Ms. Hale!

This would be a hectic month.
