Euthora-Roul ~ Kel en Miir

Discussion in 'Statistical Roleplays' started by Keileon, Jun 4, 2015.

  1. There were sounds and... shapes? Hazing, blurring out of focus. She desperately clung to consciousness with all the effectiveness of holding water in her bare claws. With every painfully slow second cohesion slipped through the cracks, blackening her vision. Was this her end? No, she could hardly muster enough power to ponder the thought. It was over for her. Strands cringed and snapped from her life thread. Crimson liquid continued to poor from blackened hide. It was over. Over...

    "They die with me."

Sudden conviction; rage born of the past surged over her like a flame. Light funneled into focal points as she flailed her wings into a reckless charge. Humans were a death plague. She'd been infected, but Ira would strike back at the disease.

Ira moves to C6. Ira casts Piercing Heart on Aytrix and Gautier! [8+1+1] 10 Light Int damage to each!
    -10 MP, 8/38 MP

  2. His worry was for not. The humans fell to the ground before the heaviest of their unit could even join the fray. There was nothing more to say, and finally his anger could hold till later; though he would likely choose not to express it at all.

He snapped his talon to the next started. "Alright, away with you too." With a flash of light, he launched the same seeping spiral into his armor. The hulking and poorly crafted metal stood no chance, and absorbed the currents like a cheap paper towel. "Seli Atiri! Let your last breaths ripple with lightning!"

(Chaneak used Seli Atiri on Gautier)
    (20/30 MP)
(7-2 = 5 Total Int damage!)(Armor causes the effect to double!)(10 Total Int Damage!)

  4. The humans fell; their blood staining the same ground Ira already laid a crimson claim to. But there was no joy; no satisfaction. Only the sensation of slipping away. Bands of light gradually caressed the Coralwing, yet there was too much loss already. Ira felt as though she were sinking deeper into an ocean devoid of water and without bottom. Deeper. Ever further into the abyss. She didn't notice her wings cease, nor her fall, nor even the inevitable collision with the earth. Only blackness...

"Ira! Ira get away from there!"

The voice was commanding yet kind. The kind of voice only a mother could have. She was racing after the young Coralwing who had wandered near the treeline that bordered the eastern ridge of the shore. Ireísed loved to explore and see new things, so she never understand why the eastern ridge was off limits. "Mama why?" Innocent eyes peered up to the much larger dragon with deep curiosity. Lovingly her mother herded the child away from the trees, but never answered. She never did. Reluctantly the youth obeyed.

It was a recurring dream. A memory. One that played endlessly now as Ira succumbed fully to unconsciousness. Deeper machinations of the mind and spirit began to operate, commanding the bands of light to slowly soothe her wounds while she lay silent and unaware of her own self-restoration. Her claws twitched on occasion as the memory grew darker. Of things she wished she could forget...

  5. The Coralwing's dreams take a notable shift from memories of her past. She would not be able to register this shift immediately, let alone be able to tell what it is, what caused it. Without her knowing, something guides her self-healing along, speeding it up with a simultaneous sense of patience and urgency. This presence slowly makes itself known, the dreams sliding from memory into brilliant flame.

You need to wake up, Ireísed.

In the mind's eye of the Coralwing, the presence speeding up her recovery slowly comes into view. A draconic figure, wreathed in flame and six-winged, stands before her in her mind only. Something about it seems old, almost regal, the fire obscuring all details but its shape. It takes a step closer; the flames around it pleasantly warm instead of burning. There is a definite sense of power to the entity, but it is not malicious, almost seeming benevolent.

You are needed further down this path, little one. You will have your chance to rest, but for now you need to continue.

The entity turns away, as if to leave. Its head turns slightly, seeming to look over its shoulder. It spreads its six wings; through the flames, they appear feathered. Ira's own healing, guided by this entity, becomes more noticeable as something gently but firmly pulls the Coralwing out of unconsciousness.

  6. The battle was ended, though the struggle was not. The wounds and injuries the dragonslayers had inflicted on Ira were more urgent than they had originally appeared, and the Coralwing was obviously losing a lot of blood. Akensken felt a tremor pass through him as her cerulean body collapsed to the ground; his heart reverberated with the impact. "Ireísed!" he roared, reaching her side as quickly as his hulking form would allow. He absorbed every overt detail of the dragon's condition with a stricken gaze-- the burn she had bore left entire portions of her scales blackened, and the wound she had suffered was still weeping crimson. Every muscle in the Armored Wyvern's body was energized and urging him to do something to help the younger drake, but his tortured mind knew there was nothing he could do. A concerned, vulnerable crag of a face turned to the other two drakes present. "Do either of you know any healing magic?" he demanded, hurried but not discourteous. Another glance downward at Ira's beaten form, and after a pause he reported solemnly, "She's healing herself." Not that he knew how, of course, but he only cared to accept the occurrence for now. His entire being relaxed as it backed away from a precipice of grief.

He lingered over her glowing body for another few moments, inwardly thanking Shyr in overwhelming relief. Cleansing water felt as if it flowed through his veins after so much dread and apprehension had possessed his muscles and knotted them tense seconds before. Becoming intoxicated with the feeling, he dared to think-- dared to hope, 'There is no mourning to be done on this day.' For this precious time, as short as it may be, Akensken was blissfully numb to the chains which always lined and pierced his heart through with loss.

  7. Rain. Why was it always rain? Ira's perfect memory of the time clearly showed it to be a clear, surprisingly beautiful day. And yet her dreams always overshadowed her haunting past with rain. It was as if her mind were shedding tears into the phantasmal dreamspace to mark the solemnity of the time. It was light, yet unyielding. Droplets would pepper the young Coralwing as she lay next to the larger. The smell of blood and death blurred by unacceptance, the not yet adult Ireísed silently mourned her mother's tragic fate. Days she had laid there; but her dreams would have it be an eternity... forever to be alone.

You need to wake up, Ireísed.

The memories blurred as conscious coherence was slowly regained. That voice... had she heard a voice? Who's voice? No, there was a mingling, a distorted image. A vision of sorts. As if her dreams and taken hold of their own selves, they shifted to a higher stage of realism wherein there was... winged fire? There was a shape?

You are needed further down this path, little one. You will have your chance to rest, but for now you need to continue.

Was it her own thoughts? Was it the dream-fire...?

"Ah...!" Ira roused slowly, feeling as though she had forgotten something important. Had she been asleep? Had she been dreaming? Yes, something... something she had dreamed of? Ah, but what could it have been? She seemed to have forgotten in the instance of waking. Slowly she stretched, only to recoil at the soreness she seemed to feel... everywhere. Then her eyes focused more and she saw a dragon... she recognized him. "Good morning...? I don't-" Her memory caught up in an instant; multiple humans. But they seemed to gone now; only corpses remained. That's good. "Ah we should probably go..."

  8. Once the Coralwing had woken up, the group was quick to move on, a general feeling of restlessness settling into the small flight. As they continued forward, the distant sounds of battle became clearer- the roars of an angry dragon, the shouts of humans crying out in their tongue or taunting their prey in Drakine. It is not long after that that their destination comes into view- the first thing they see is fire, rising above a mountain ridge to scorch the hunters. The fire dissipates, and now that they are close, the four dragons get a good look at what they have found.

The dragon is brilliant red and gold, and enormous. Its wingspan is nearly a hundred feet long, and wreathed in flames that show no sign of fading, and fire trails down the creature's spine. It boasts a lean, sinuous frame, longer even than Ireísed, its tail making up at least two thirds of its length. The dragon's great size rivals Akensken's, and a decorative crown of crests and horns shows that this dragon is very old.

This dragon is a True Firedrake, surely one of the last of a dying breed, and it is being hunted by would-be dragonslayers.

The Firedrake angles its head low to the ground, spewing flame at one of the humans who is promptly scorched to death and flung into the cliffside. But at least eight more of the humans remain, one of which swings his sword at the Firedrake's flank. The dragon's head turns to glare and roar at its attacker, but in the process its amber eyes catch sight of the group of four who had traveled here.

"You have impeccable timing, little ones," the Firedrake calls out in a deep male voice as he repositions himself to better face one of his attackers. The long tail sweeps at the party of humans, knocking them back slightly and forcing them to regain their footing. "Would you mind coming to the aid of an old drake? As you can see, these humans are tenacious." The Firedrake's tone is oddly calm for the situation.

*Culture Note: "Little one" is a phrase used by very old dragons to address individuals much younger than themselves. It can be considered a friendly, almost affectionate phrase, though often gets mildly indignant responses from overly proud dragons.

  9. Stiria starts at K5!

Stiria scoffed. She did not know whether to feel disgusted at the drake's words or pitiful for the foolish humans who dared try to take on surely one of the most powerful dragons in the area. Although she would not admit it outwardly, she knew that this older dragon's power far outmatched her own; she could feel the Firedrake's power radiating. It was for that reason alone she quickly decided to feel sorrow for the human scum that dared try to feel a beast of superior power. "Foolish humans," she declared, rising higher into the sky as ethereal energies wrapped around her. "You fail to realize the impossibility of your toiling. In the fires of this drake are you bathed to feel alive, but by my ether you shall perish!"

  10. Ira was surprised at how quickly she had recovered. With revitalized mental faculties she could distinctly remember the extent of the injuries she had suffered, and yet she had flown with little struggle and bore no scars of the event. And yet she couldn't help shaking the feeling she was forgetting something... ah, but it was probably nothing. With careless resolve she descended, coming short of the brutal earth to hover outside of its reach. Before her was a scene to behold; a great Firedrake with a strange calmness for the situation he was in. Humans abounded. Why was it always humans? Just the sight of the accursed spawn made the Coralwing's blood boil.

Ira starts in K6. Temper set.

    Temper: {//////////}

  11. {Akensken starts in K4.}

    It never lasted long enough.

High emotions and spirits always had to dull, much to the Armored Wyvern's chagrin. Their small group was quick to move on once they were all able to take flight, and Akensken contented in the mere company of the Coralwing-- and, he supposed, the others-- after her close call. It had been a while since he was able to truly enjoy the acquaintanceship of other dragons. Looming in the distance, however, was their destination; the raucous battle cries of both human and dragon, along with the boisterous plumes of fire, made that clear enough. Akensken felt that sense of dread resurface, leveling out his mood once more. More battle, more loss. The ever-present anxiety that one of his kin might fall before him, and he, powerless to stop it. Helpless but to live on with the mounting burden on his heart. Perhaps he was a fool to rehash the same song over and over again, hoping-- too frequently in vain-- that it will someday end on a happier note. Perhaps he was a fool to continue fighting. He wondered it often.

He carried on nevertheless, as he knew he was responsible to. The memories inside him would only grow heavier if he stopped trying. So he landed at the vanguard of their little formation, gazing with a touch of wonder at the dragon they had set out to assist. The drake's demeanor and words set respect in Akensken's own from the start. "Of course we will help you, ancient fire king," the Armored Wyvern responded. "It is an honor to see one of your kind holding out."

With the newcomers clearly preparing to help him, the Firedrake gives an acknowledging nod to the Armored Wyvern's words. The humans surrounding him seem to be cautiously weighing their odds- together, they may have been able to bring down the great beast before them, but facing five dragons at once would be a daunting challenge. One they would most likely face head-on, but nonetheless one that warrants some hesitation.

The old Firedrake takes advantage of this hesitation to vault between two of the humans, getting out of their circle and putting his back to the ridge so that they cannot flank him again. Here he fully unfurls his flaming wings, rises onto his hind legs, and lets loose a proud and powerful roar. The long, whiplike tail lashes at the air around him, knocking a chunk of stone from the ridge and removing an obstacle the dragon's newfound allies would have had to go around should they have tried to come onto the ridge.

The dragon growls as he drops onto his forelegs again, the impact causing the slightest of tremors in the cliffside near him. He looks over his shoulder briefly to address the four younger dragons. "The path to their western flank is open!" The Firedrake's tone has moved from calm to alert; years of experience are almost audible in the undertones of his voice.

  13. Something wasn’t quite right here. The fact that his kin had gotten this surrounded in the first place seemed absurd. This wasn’t just a small scouting squad like the others. This was a whole platoon. Why would so many be here just wandering about, in addition to the ones they had already dealt with nearby?

Clearly the other firedrake had started something; something that was drawing large amounts of unwanted attention.

But Chaneak reflected for a brief moment, maybe he was just projecting. Perhaps there was something else bringing everyone here. Perhaps even pure bad luck. The call that lead them here was clearly fated, after all. This was all too rooted in feelings for Chaneak to act on; however, out of the corner of his eye, he caught glimpse of an ember. Clearly one the humans fallen to the drake’s attacks. Chaneak in his usual awkward scamper ducked around a rock and pounced at the corpse. Surely somewhere in its remains there would be a clue to the human’s mission in the canyons.

Seeing the firedrake maneuver so easily and smash the large boulder urged Stiria forward. An opening such as this was not one to be missed. She parted her maw. A beam of energy flew fast and true as she screeched. It sailed over the head of the firedrake and struck through the battlemage although it tore not his flesh. It was her most basic of attacks and she knew that while it was not as effective against the mystically-garbed man, it would leave him reeling––if his energy depleted enough he would relent. And soon the humans would fall.

  15. Every instinct was pulling her toward defensive action. If her last encounter with these cur was anything to judge by, Ira would be wise to heed the feeling. But alas, the Coralwing was not one for rational thinking while in the moment. With every fiber of her being begging to avoid the pain she had endured earlier this very same day, Ira charged ahead with a roar. Particles of light gathered about her jaws as she bellowed, blasting onward to punctuate the challenging voice. She would kill them all. Every single one of them.

    The battle is on.

Though the eight humans had at first seemed hesitant to fight now that they only outnumbered their prey by three instead of seven, one of the knights raises his shield, gives a battle cry, and jumps down the ledge to the side of the Armored Wyvern. The knight then rams his shield into the dragon, surprisingly knocking it off balance and stumbling into the smaller dragon beside it. Seeing this seems to rally the others, who advance on the ledge and the flight of dragons near it. Having reflected the Coralwing's attack, the female mage continues the assault with a ball of flame; one of the mages heals his comrade who had been injured moments before. The now-healed mage and one of the knights team up to continue to try and kill the Firedrake they had come here to fight, scoring hits that elicit an annoyed roar from the old dragon. Unable to fully get in on the action, the rest of the humans advance forward, at the ready, two of them brandishing studded whips eagerly.

A Mound Cell is created on I5.

The Firedrake roars at the two humans attacking him, swiping a blazing claw at the mage. The fiery talons do a surprising amount of visible damage, with the mage buckling under the assault and struggling back to his feet. The alert watcher would not be able to make sense of what happens next, however- as the human struggles back to a standing position, the dragon makes an odd leap, somehow making it past the enemy, the ledge, and the Stellar Wyvern in one bound. How did he get past? Did he somehow just manage to jump over the human? Did he take flight for a moment?

"Careful not to line up! We might block each other," The dragon calls out to his new allies, almost in a chastising way. He ruffles his wings, checking them for superficial damage, before returning his attention to the battle.

  18. Ireised roared in surprise as her own piercing rays were turned back at her. She'd never imagined ever having to react to her own magic, so of course, had no time so to do. The beams tore into her flesh, but Ira couldn't help but feel somewhat disappointed in how relatively small the amount of damage was. Ah, but maybe she was simply more resilient than she gave herself credit. The Coralwing had little time to recover as a follow-through came in the form of a violent blaze. The heat was nigh-unbearable, but bear it she did. Scorched and wounded, Ira resolved not to repeat her last disaster and retreated somewhat as light coated her injuries. Just a light touch up and she'd be back in business.

Bellowing as the armored human forced him to rear back, Akensken felt himself collide with another dragon. Glancing behind him, he saw the sparkling Stellar Wyvern. "My apologies," he grumbled, turning back to glare at the human. "These are quite a few humans you managed to attract the attention of, fire king," the Armored Wyvern commented to the True Firedrake who had joined their formation. "Were they tracking you?" While speaking, the gem in the mountainous dragon's chest glowed, and a faint rumbling emanated from the side of the ridge nearby. It annoyed the drake to know that his attacks would be virtually nullified by the thick armor these humans wore.[/color]

  20. Damn, nothing. the dragon thought. All he found pawing through the garments of the man were chunks of his seared flesh. Anything identifying was burned away by the flame attacks, if such an item existed at all. It was briefly temping to reveal himself at this point. To speak in a human tongue and try to wean information from the humans. There was no point though; there was nothing to say, no proof the firedrake was malign, and no insurance that the humans would stop aggressing if he was.

It was too late to plot anything now anyway. His allies had already begun a war over the ravine. After not but a few spells were slung around one human managed to fling himself across the gap. An impressive thing, Chaneak mused. More psychologically than physically; if Chaneak didn’t have wings, he wouldn’t be able to bring himself to make such a jump. He wouldn’t be stupid enough, rather.

Chaneak brought out his wings and sharply broke away from the corpse, hopping backwards and landing near Akensken.  Taking the lead of his allies, the “courageous” human had to be kept at bay. He shot another golden spiral of light across the sky. It magnetized past the other drakes on onto the armor of the knight, where it’s spiraling crackle festered the branding left by Stiria’s spell.
